Title: Spammathon: Brought to you by Candystripes
Post by: PistolPete on October 26, 2014, 10:10:46 AM
Users of this forum who have been active yesterday evening may have seen a name pop up as the last poster in many threads and boards - Pierre11 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=177007

I found it when it had made 29 posts in less than an hour, mostly junk as expected. As I watched it unfold the incredible run ended at 64 posts in a little over 3 hours. Why did Pierre11 suddenly get the post bug?

Turns out Pierre11 was kept as collateral with Candystripes (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=828280.0) 3 days past default he decided to act and went ahead to boost the activity past Sr. member. His calculation seems to have been wrong as it 'only' went to 238, so he stopped posting at 242. Poor Candystripes now have to wait for the next activity upgrade to sell a Sr. Member account.

It would be interesting to see exactly how many times our indefatigable poster has boosted and sold accounts. A few days back I enquired about the availability of an account nor9865 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=59502), which was listed in his loan thread as having defaulted and account taken back.

Wait! There is no mention of nor9865 here, but I could have sworn it was there a few days back. So I looked into his thread and on the second page found nor8965's 'loan request'

All good!

Strange. Funnily enough just scrolling down that page shows Candy giving the loan

Candy, through nor9865, has been posting once every two weeks. I bet the potential activity is still short of that a Sr. Member's one. The account is now being used to collect potential activity points, and when it passes 240, we will see another spammathon! There may have been more in the past, or indeed more waiting to happen through accounts we aren't aware of.

This is a very interesting event happening here, and its due to an unique combination of how activity works, accounts being traded, and different account levels getting different signature and consequently earning privileges. Add trust to the mix and it becomes a complicated mess with various posters finding many ways to game it.

Post this in the 'Scam Accusation' section. It's pretty obvious this problem would arise via account -/+ loan ordeals. Wasn't online at the time.

This has to be the worst possible way to account farm.

I have asked Candystripes to delete all the spam, 70 posts he says he did, so i have the account like before.. i will return my loan when he does this..

If you see spam, just use the Report button below the post on the right end. The successful percentage changes which will indicate to you whether it has been successful or not.

It got sorted so conveniently just after I made the thread :)

In the interest of completeness, I should mention that I received a message from nor9865 that the account has been bought.

If you see spam, just use the Report button below the post on the right end. The successful percentage changes which will indicate to you whether it has been successful or not.

I reported, and it says 100% success. The account is still active I am not sure what happened.

I believe an account won't be banned for making just a few spamming posts.
You found the users making tens of spamming post, but you probably just reported a few of them right? Then the mods won't know how bad the spam was.

It was more then a few. Didn't someone say around 70 posts in a very short period of time? The mods could have checked his recent posts.

Candystripes had made the account get to ~240 posts, and the account has ~175 posts now (although some were made after the spam was deleted) so 70 is about right.

I saw the account on several threads (probably at least 15) with 100% useless posts that added absolutely nothing to the conversation and what I would consider to be spam.

Candystripes posts in the lending section are also very sketchy and I would say there is a good chance he will end up scamming

Very brave of you to post here, considering you are now trying to post 50 times to fill your quota to get signature payout. Already at 37 posts over the past day.

Candystripe is the kind of person that will scam when it makes sense for him to do so.

Trust me on this - I have significant experience in Bitcoin lending.

Also, mods should ban Candystripe for spamming.

It doesn't mean anything if I delete them, the activity and everything goes back down. Also, how are my posts sketchy. I give no-collateral loans and I will never loan for collaterals only.

Being called a scammer, by a big-time scammer means nothing to me. I won't get banned because I never spammed or scammed on this account, and I never will.

Just saw I got a negative trust from Bitcoin-Police saying I am an alt of Candystripes :o ;D

Nobody bother talking back to this guy, he is most likely Bitcoin-Police or someone else that has something against me.

The BTC was sent back to me, I gave him the acc. Deal done, and his account was back to normal and everything is fine now. Whoever claims they are Pierre, really isn't.

Not even going to bother responding to this failure of a scammer anymore. You need to try WAY harder to scam, maybe make an HYIP or something xD. You aren't going to get anywhere with this.

Again, Pierre can actually speak English, unlike what you are showing me right now.

I don't think this is proof.

I think that you should have pierre11 sign a message from 13k3pGFoJG5TWSVnXoUE7mD4QUnYDn5ZBU (which is the address that he requested the loan to be sent to) confirming that he received his account back. If you can get him to do this then you returned the account back to him, if he cannot do this, or if he does not log back into his account, then you most likely stole the account from him

Since you are trustworthy, I will take you on a join.me and show you all PMs sent back and forth. Otherwise, not wasting my time.

@ OP: You forgot another thing before trying to scam. People only get their accounts back if they payback their loan within 5 days of the due date, or if they talk to me. You did not do either, and you're asking for "your" account back? Think again next time, lol. Pierre paid back 2 days after it was due, and he got his account back.

PM's don't prove anything, you could easily have given him a fake password via PM. I think you should get pierre11 to sign a message from the above address. If you are going to quickly dismiss the idea of him signing a message from such address then I think you did not give the account back.

If he replies saying that he cannot sign a message from that address for some reason then we can go from there (most likely we can have someone like VOD log into his coinbase account - or what ever account is receiving the btc at that address - to verify that the account actually receives btc at such address)

I PMed him, he's from France so he is most likely sleeping. I'll update you here and how it goes, but I am 100% sure I gave Pierre11 back to the right owner.

Also, in the tx he paid back 0.095 (was supposed to be 0.096), because he was two days late. 0.08 + 20% (10% late fee each day) = 0.096.

I don't want to waste my night replying here for this stupid guy claiming he is Pierre. Unless he gives us REAL proof, such as owning that address, just ignore the guy.

Pierre doesn't talk like that at all, lol. I can give proof I gave it back.

Nobody bother talking back to this guy, he is most likely Bitcoin-Police or someone else that has something against me.

The BTC was sent back to me, I gave him the acc. Deal done, and his account was back to normal and everything is fine now. Whoever claims they are Pierre, really isn't.

You don't give me back my account ; I tell you put the old password and you don't do it.

Where is the error ???

The verity is I don't pay back but I send you a message for explain than I had late. You don't reply me ! What ?

Because during the loan, you sold my account after post more 70 post spam for sell my account more expensive.

Just after I send you the message, you create a false trade for tell to the other member that I paid you back.

And you ask to the account buyer post a message than he receive back the loan.

But some members found your very suspicious behavior and open this topic.

Also what this different of price ? Just because you sold my account more expensive thant the amount I have to pay back to you.

You have claimed to have given him back his account, so claiming that he did not send you enough is not a valid reason for him to be making a claim against you like this. You can either claim that he did not send enough (so you did not need to give him the account back) or that you did give the account back and that he is lying, but you cannot claim both. If you are going to claim that you did not need to give him his account back then you will lose credibility.

He has already provided a screenshot of PMs from both you and someone else regarding the loan that he was requesting. This is certainly not proof beyond a doubt, but it is something that gives a good indication that he, at one point had access to the account after he requested the loan.

This is also not the first time you have been accused of scamming from someone as a few months ago it was claimed that you were overpaid for an account, but when you were called out you refunded the scamee. (I can't find the specific thread but it was in the beginners and help section)

Your buddy or your alt? Its becoming shadier by the minute.

Off off topic, it may mean that ValueAccounts is actually marcotheminer as pointed out in this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=838915.0

This is the PM I received from nor9865

Hey,
I came across your thread. I'm not candystripes, they sold me the account to "recover their losses from the default". Just letting you know this so that I don't get trouble headed my way. Feel free to monitor my account; I won't be spamming at all and won't post only to get activity. (Yes I am aware there are potential points but I won't spam just to reach that point)
Cheers

It says it was sold to the current owner. Either you are lying or he is. Which one is it?

Yes that was the reason. Nothing to do with you spamming everything here with 70 junk posts in 3 hours.

Nice try going on a personal attack and trying to change the subject away from you lying.

I had already mentioned about my interest, that was the reason I figured it out, and I found it fascinating.

A few days back I enquired about the availability of an account nor9865 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=59502), which was listed in his loan thread as having defaulted and account taken back.

Okay, almost none of the posts that you made with that account were on topic to the threads. They were all more or less useless and were resembling the kinds of posts made by the spammers that caused many people to complain about signature spamming. I am actually surprised the account was not banned (maybe the only reason for the lack of a ban is because you deleted the posts before the mods could look at/see how much spam you were making)

CandyStripes, the question is more what you are not already banned ?

I remember you you don't give me back my account.
You tell in this post you asked to the user who actually use "Pierre11" proove he had the btc adress what is used by the loan and since you don't give us the proove. So you area spammer...

You know you could easily recover this account if you have previous trades with someone or you have posted your bitcoin address. You just need to sign the address with a PGP key to BadBear.

Simple as that.

BadBear has said previously that he will not recover any lost accounts. He seems to think it poses too much risk to recover accounts to the incorrect person.

That leaves him with theymos, who has said that account recovery tends to be a low level priority. Plus the fact that candystripes should have access to the account at one point as it was voluntarily given to candystripes, and the fact that the mods do not moderate against scams (which is what this is by candystripes) would lead me to believe that he is not going to get his account back via the forum

I honestly think most posts were relevant to the topic, they were not spam. And who are you to get into my business about my posts? I deleted them anyways, so this thread should be deleted also.

That is my opinion^

Most? If most were relevant then why did you delete them?

I am actually surprised the account was not banned (maybe the only reason for the lack of a ban is because you deleted the posts before the mods could look at/see how much spam you were making)

Admins can still see deleted posts.
IDK if you saw any of the posts or not, but if so, would you consider them to be spam-like posts? (I don't think that staff can see deleted posts). Prove me you own the address and I will give you 1 BTC or get banned :). Sign a message.

He says he won't recover lost accounts who do not have a bitcoin address previously used to sign for to show previous ownership.

I won't be recovering accounts except in special cases.
I'm still doing pretty much the same stuff I always did (I already did several admin type duties such as ban appeals, fulfilling moderator ban requests, etc), with some more minor stuff. Just easier now that I have more information and tools to work with. Theymos is still in charge.
