It will lock your funds till it gets 1 confirmation. You have to send from the address which you have to lock.

You will get it unlocked in a few days. (Don't blame me if it takes forever.)

Ah, I see. Nice way to stop gambling, but if I want to spend it, and it is locked for more time than I expect, then that might be trouble. I think, holding the funds at an escrow might also be a good option.

You can also send it to a family member to hold the private keys, for a month or a later time. Or make a paper wallet and ask someone to lock it away.

I got a even better idea. Send all your bitcoin to me, and then you won't have any bitcoin to gamble.
The great point is that it will work for a longer period time, until you get more bitcoin later and send it to me as well.

This is by far the best way. The other methods involves risk. And the paper wallet method is better in case your family member or friend is not too good with computers and might end up losing the private key.

stupid, bet your own one sat, once you reach 2 sat, keep 1 in safety and continue with the second one... but you need to be a successful gambler for this ingenious plan to work, but it's infallible what ever the outcome, because if you lose you would be stopped too.  ;D

Just cold storage it, and put it in a case with spikes :D

You can never know when such a transaction will get confirmed. Once, its picked up by a miner which is random, only then it gets confirmed.

That is gambling till you lose. The idea is not to lose.  ;)

Another way is to be encrypt your bitcoin wallet using a long password from the random generator and write down on a piece of paper and put it in your bank safe. This way you won't be tempted to gamble when it is too troublesome to unlock your wallet.

Hardly foolproof. Most people have more than one address so they might have to send many satoshis, but this wont really stop a gambler anyway as the desperate ones will just buy more or find a way around it.

Just go somewhere where theres no internet or slow internet connection. Go to the Philippines it has the lowest internet speed all over the world.

You probably have more than one output at your address too. Sending a single satoshi will only tie up one of your outputs.

A better way of doing it is to send your whole wallet balance except for 1 satoshi to yourself. That will use up all your inputs, and take a long time to confirm, because the miners see the 1 satoshi change as being different than any other 1 satoshi output.

You may need to try a few times to get the fee right - try (balance - 1 sat), then (balance - 0.0001 - 1 sat), etc. until you've left enough for fees.

Play money might be an option to get over with that addiction, but I think its the money which is what the addiction is, and not just playing.

Just have to try and be rational (which is hard) and realize that the short terms wins are actually a kind of delusion.  If you can accept you are paying a fee with all bets to be entertained rather then playing a gambling game to beat it and make money then it can be fun.

Yes, but sometimes the fee for that is a lot. You could do it the cheaper way as well. But thats not really the whole reason for the addiction behind gambling. Well the fee is pretty cheap for something like dice, 1% on average.  I should imagine exact reasons for addction are very unique from person to person.

Yes you can , with the online wallet (blockchain.info) you can send TX with zero fee. Can I ask you what wallet do you use ?

Nope. You will lock up your own address. The address you sent other than the one to which you sent 1 satoshi, will receive the balance. You will not be able to use the funds, till it is confirmed.

If you think you can invest some amount of btc's and will make more bitcoins by gambling . Then you are 100% wrong. While Playing , you will loose you all bitcoin funds slowly slowly. At last , not a single satoshi will remains in ur BTC wallet and it will be totally NIL.

Its my Own Experience. So Guys, If you earn these bitcoins by doing hard work , Then why you are wasting your hardly earned money by using them in gambling. Just keep them with you and spend then in some useful stuffs or invest them in your own project which can get you Monthly Steady Income without any issue.

You're right , "free" money  doesn't exist. If you want earn , you've to invest your time and do something ( and with the gamble it is not simple).

I have been trying to quit gambling, and the only way I have learnt doing it is the hard way. I got around 5 losses in a row at 97%,  and thats when I realized, if you don't stop while you are ahead, you will eventually have a bad day and lose most of your winning and even more.

This is the first time, when someone got agree with my suggestions. I am really feeling happy.  As everyone knows it very well, There is nothing free in this world. Then also Peoples got too much greedy and because of their greed , they loose out their all the money while gambling.

True Story of some gamblers i have experienced :

1) I have one friend who is living near by my home. He is studying Bachlor in Pharmacy. He is a totally addicted Gambler. Whenever he got some 2000INR to 5000INR cash in his pocket, Instead of using that money in some good things like shopping, or purchasing useful items for household use, He always went to Casino to gambler them on slot machines. Last Time , he got some 6000INR cash. and he ask me to come with him to go on casino. Thanks God, That time i didn;t have a single rupee in my pocket. We both went to casino and he started playing . First he told me that he will only wager with 100INR, If it will be lose , then we will stop it , If we won some cash we will spend on a restaurant.

After some 5-10 minutes , he won some 250INR extra profit for wagering 100INR. I asked him to stop , but he ignores , bcoz he had some 6000INR in his pocket. he both stay their for only one hour. I am just sitting on the chair and he is busy in gambling. After 1 hour , i have noticed his faced , he looses his all 6000INR cash. My friend got fully depressed.

That 6000INR cash is for paying his college fees. But because of too much greedyness , he loose his all cash Instead of paying college fees.

Note : This is the effect of gambling , when we lose our money.

This is the total symptoms of getting millionare overnight because his greed. WHo will make this people understand. If u have made 10 btc using just 2-3 btc , its much more . At this time you must stop and enjoy your extra profit . But these guys don't know , at last they will loose their all btc fund.

Put everything in coldwallet, with a multisig and give a key to a trusted family member... that should do it ! It worked for me

Some people just enjoy gambling and don't care if they win or lose. That guy road actually talked about consulting a psychiatrist after he lost 250btc the first time. But came back again 2 times, and ended up building a huge bankroll and losing it.

How to stop gambling? Simply, go out and turn off your connection and your pc. If you meet some game in your real life, avoid them and go next. It is difficult, but if you want to stop gambling you have to do this.

Its better to spend that money in any stuffs you like to purchase than loosing them all in gambling. When you gamble your money , at last you will get nothing bcoz of your greed. But if you spend that all money in purchasing any stuffs like gifts for your friends on their birthday or clothes for yourself and your family, eating stuff, any electronic devices like mobile phone,etc. These all things will remains with you only.

Up vote! I think this is the second best strategy I have read so far.

As long as you see gambling as a way of entertainment that actually costs money, i don't see any reason to stop betting at all. If you're addicted, sending yourself bitcoins will just make you wait but eventually you are going to bet again.

Gambling is not just an action but its the mentality of gambler.
Gambling will only stop when the Gambler runs out of money and everything which can be set aside for money.

Just see gambling as a service industry.
Service fee is what the gambler are investing in return of getting the gambling feel.
If getting any profit intermediate, see it as lottery or bonus.

Sorry but I disagree, and I was proposing it out of experience with friends and partners. try it and it will work because You will soon understand that the HE is earning you coins while you are gambling and losing at your own casino.
