Title: Antminer C1 liquid cooled by chevrolet :)
Post by: bbxx on November 10, 2014, 12:01:11 PM
Hi

I just finished my project, big home heater.

2x antminer C1 (2.31 btc + 120$ fees ~ 870$)
6 meters pipe 10mm (6$)
circulation pump 28W 0.7m3/h (70$)
chevrolet cooler with fan (from scrap, 20$)
cooper joints, spliters (50$)
2 PSU, 1200gold from dragon and 1300W rosewill platinum (from scrapped miners)

I connected fan from PSU using 5V molex. Fan is not loud :)

This setup allows to heat whole floor (50m2) with 24 celsius.
Great for winter.

I am very happy :)

The cooler looks like it could need some cleaning... I would certainly not operate it in a living area.
Apart from that, it's a "cool" project!

With any water cooling kits, make sure you added stuff to the fluid to keep algae down. Also, I hope you didn't mix metals. Aluminium + copper = bad in a loop.

Aside from that, that looks awesome! How cool are the miners running? No doubt that radiator can handle the heat :D

Okay that is pretty darn cool.

I noticed you left some air in the loop, that's bad for the pump. You need a reservoir to trap the air. The fastest way to make one would be to take a jar, punch 2 holes in the lid and add to the loop before the pump.

bad in loop ? can you explain what can happen ?

miners are running about 39-42 degrees
29 celsius is air near fan
27 celsius at this small attic room
25 celsius at room near and kitchen

thank you for this
i will try to get rid of air and put more water in it :)

Yeah, it will be fine as a heater, but i dont think that you will ever be able to get your invested money back from mining.

Believe it or not, thermal dynamic says that rad only being used half of the channels.

Not that you need it.

Yeah, it will be fine as a heater, but i dont think that you will ever be able to get your invested money back from mining.

i do save 300$ per month on gas bill.

got other miners distributed at home too :)

2.4 th at basement
2 th at attic
0.8 th at second floor

and house is at 23 celsius only from miners :)

well thats freaking nice!
Imma suggest some of my friends to buy miners instead of room heaters! They'll mine for me!
Thanks for the idea

really nice work, well done!

so right now i am sitting with a 1kw fan heater and i am paying 0.25euro cent per kw/hr for this.

what miner will make a good cost effective heater...... nothing too loud :) main purpose is foot warming while at desk.

grab a btc garden v1/v2, they are very quiet, due to extreme low chip density per heatsink
you can dismantle it into sole boards and put silent fans on them

The radiator could use some cleaning and it doesn't look stable on that chair. Good job anyway!

Don't know on efficiency but cool level is a 10!  Nicely done.

Maybe make it variable speed and use a car gas pedal :)

Miner furnace FTW - just brought my Dragon home to keep the living room warm last night. I need to put up pics of my radiator loop (HashFast + Habanero) sometime when I get it back to working; it's a cheap eBay radiator, nothing legit with actual road grime. Smexy setup, sir.

You don't want a Prisma for a footwarmer. They're pretty loud and also ever so slightly a fire hazard. I can attest that the Gardens are pretty quiet.
