Title: Re: [WTB] Portable GPS Post by: rjk on June 08, 2012, 01:12:35 AM come on you bums. someone has a gps they want to part with! Hmm I didn't notice this til now. My car has a GPS in it so my Garmin is now defunct. However, the maps are over a year old and probably deserve an update - but the update isn't cheap. Also the device has been registered with Garmin's website, so I would have to see whether it can be easily transferred. It is a Nuvi 1390t with free ad-supported traffic info. I'm not sure of the state of the battery, last I checked it was dead but it should hold a charge for at least a few hours I would think. It has an SD card slot for expansion, but no card right now. I also have a huge repository of Pigtones.com (weird, site seems to have a compromised script installed right now? Must be a recent problem...) voices installed, so you can have George Bush, Clint Eastwood, GLaDOS, Beevis and Butthead, or any number of other characters guide you around. I have no idea what it is worth, make an offer. Title: Re: [WTB] Portable GPS Post by: lolwut on June 08, 2012, 01:47:00 AM come on you bums. someone has a gps they want to part with! Title: Re: [WTB] Portable GPS Post by: rjk on June 08, 2012, 01:54:28 AM How expensive are the maps? Do people pirate them on the interwebz? I dunno if they can be pirated, never looked into it. They are expensive; starting at $50 probably more, or you can buy a "lifetime" pack for $90 that does perpetual updates, or until they decide to stop supporting it, as far as I can tell from the ToS. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=33379This is the device itself: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=32700 Title: Re: [WTB] Portable GPS Post by: lolwut on June 08, 2012, 03:03:38 AM How expensive are the maps? OK I had a look - seems like closer to 9 BTC with shipping is market price. I think I might even still have the box and manuals somewhere.Title: Re: [WTB] Portable GPS Post by: lolwut on June 08, 2012, 04:03:30 AM If you look at the completed listings on ebay, they are going for $30-$60 depending on condition and accessories.
