The truth about the monetary system. Take a beer and watch at least the first.

Yep, "Money as Debt", I've seen it before. Highly recommended, must see!

Sad but true, the existing monetary system is flawed by design, rotten by nature. This is why it's falling down, and upcoming alternatives like Bitcoin will have the future.

Banks are still struggling and pretending, but I don't see even a remotely realistic way out of this mess for them. Even the most optimistic predictions show no scenario where the current financial system can ever overcome the gigantic, colossal, ever growing debts that everything and everyone managed to get themselves into.

The government is the biggest scam ever. The Fed and banking system is just the hairiest roach in the building.

I think it is important to inform people about this system to fully get rid of it. Only the truth spread to the majority will prevail.

I'm so glad the bitcoin is there to make an alternative to this crappy banking system.

the question would be when is it all going to collapse past the point of being able to recover? or has it already?

did you just now discover this "greatest theft of all times"?

Welcome to the club!

That shit is part of why we're all here and it's no coincidence satoshi put the following into the code that generates the genesis block:

Quote
const char* pszTimestamp = "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks";

Yeah I just learn about this and I didn't know that most of people here already know. We must find a way to reach a massive amount of people to learn them about this and the bitcoin alternative.

Unfortunately, Bitcoin is still too complicated to grasp for most people, and too dangerous. They're not security experts, they're mostly dumb fucks (pardon the french) when it comes to securing their data. We can't blame them, the Average Joe is just not into this kind of stuff.

I think Bitcoin has to evolve a bit more (in terms of client usability, and ease of securing your money) before it's suitable to be picked up by the masses.

how many years did it take the internet to become mainstream? it wasent all that long ago connecting to the internet was too complicated for most people.

maybe not perfectly analogous but i think there are some parallels

I'm with you, knight22.

We must talk to Joe Average, otherwise we're doomed. Bitcoin easy or hard to use doesn't matter (I agree we should make it easier and more secure to use, of course).

Rick Falkvinge (founder of the swedish Pirate Party) has stated that "it takes 10 years for a disruptive technology to go from inception to becoming so easy to use that it reaches mainline adoption". That would mean 2019 for the concept of distributed cryptocurreny.

I recommend watching his enlightening talk at the Bitcoin Conference in Prague: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjmuPqkVwWc where he explains this.

I agree with this.As an inexperienced user of bitcoin myself,it needs to come across as an approachable alternative that any person from any age can use (from gran to the kids for example).Bitcoin should be given a chance to evolve into a more user friendly product (some people would prefer a 'one touch' style form of payment via NFC but we're just not there yet at the moment).

Just watched the first one and it was pretty awesome.

That said, it seems like Keynesian economics have been pretty successful over the past century. I'm not sure how all this macroeconomic policy really plays out on the national level....

Title: Re: Biggest Scam Ever!!
Post by: knight22 on June 12, 2012, 02:12:10 PM
Macroeconomic is something pretty complex because the root scam of this system makes it unstable by nature and a lot is done trying to stabilize it in vain. The power of creating money out of thin air is not something we should have gave to a group of people staying in shadow and this is the worst error of mankind. If you now read on the matter (macroeconomic) with this new information in mind, you will surely understand a lot more than before.

BTW, don’t hesitate to show these videos to all your friend, family, coworker, etc.  When all people will be aware of this hoax, then we will stop being screw up.

If people don’t want to believe, show them the “Modern Money Mechanics” written by the Federal Reserve Bank itself (free of copyrights on Google). It describes in detail the mechanics of money creation. It’s not a mater of believe or not, it’s a mater of facts.

Title: Re: Biggest Scam Ever!!
Post by: circuitloss on June 12, 2012, 04:39:45 PM
It's not a matter of belief at all. Fractional Reserve Banking works more or less exactly as described in the first video. The question is whether or not FRB is inherently "bad" or not. Advocates of the Gold Standard should remember that there are disadvantages to that model as well and there were some sound reasons it was given up. (Such as artificially capping economic growth based solely on the supply of currency.)

A FRB model coupled with Keynesian policies has been successful at minimizing the effects of major recessions and depressions. I find the Fractional Reserve system to be quite disconcerting, but I'm not certain that it's necessarily doomed for collapse.

Bitcoin is interesting precisely because it's neither a fiat currency nor a commodity. It's something new...

A system that steal population money like the FED is nothing else than a parasite that must be ripped off. This is obviously bad and nothing good can come out of if for the society. Money shouldn't represent any dept at all.

I believe it's a perfect analogy, for look where we are now--the smartphone has replaced more often than not: the watch; the laptop; the iPod; the day-runner; the physical wallet (to some); etc. I'm sure I've left some items off the list, but you get the gist. About a dozen years ago, guys were jacking-off while viewing their computers via dial-ups. Now they can do it while donning trenchcoats riding the train home via a Samsung Galaxy II. Got to go. My stop is fast approaching and I need to...EXCUSE ME LADY! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU LOOKING AT!

That's a myth. Any amount of money can support any size economy. Prices will simply adjust (downwards, in a "non-bad" deflation). Detlev Schlichter describes this very well in his book "The paper money collapse"

it is up to each one of us to do what we can today and every day to make manifest our deep desires like having a sound, supportive and productive economic system in favour of the individual human being.
the fraud of money as debt has brought us together around Bitcoin, to some degree at least, and for that I am deeply grateful.

Yeah, but more like the way stimulant drugs help you get things done. Takes more and more each time just to stay level, and the public sure doesn't want to hear that the economy is not growing. Hard to say whether they've been successful, the long run has not been played out. I've come to more of an Austrian bent over the past few years, so less believing that aggregate behavior manipulation of macro policies are possible.

I would like to mention that at least the Woodrow Wilson quote starting "I am a most unhappy man" is a cut and paste reworking of several of his quotes unrelated to the Fed. Someone did the dirty deed of making the fake quote, and then a lot of non-fact-checking libertarians and goldbugs have spread it around widely. On the whole though I agree with most of the video.

As to "I don't think most of newbies are aware of this", I think far more people than we realise are aware of the situation, they just have absolutely no idea about how to do anything about it.

Whilst I agree that this is all true, the talk in this thread about replacing the current system is slightly nieve.  The entire economic system is build on credit.  You wont replace that because a new form of Gold has been discovered (which is basically what BTC is).  There will be a lot of pain before the curent system can evolve into something fit for purpose, and unless you are paid in BTC, spend olnly BTC and have all investments n BTC, you should be careful what you wish for.

In my view, Bitcoin is the giant rabbit hole where fiat currencies go to die, as you all buy Bitcoin with fiat, but generally don't sell Bitcoin back for fiat (unless you need the money, like, now).

In other words: Bitcoin might be the first instance of good money driving out bad money.

so true, just wish more site`s where willing to implement btc as payment. tryed emailing the few norwegian online computer stores about it.
they think its not "safe" enough.

not sure if they ment it`s not safe cause of the price fluctuation or that they are just worried they will get hacked or sommn...

I'm so pissed off!

I can recommend www.moneyfix.org which has a good documentary about how money works; i.e. money = debt.

A book written by G.E Griffin titled "The creatures of Jekyll Island". He also appears in Fiat Empire which is another documentary that explains why the money created is unconstitutional.

Money is a scam. Get over it. It always has been a scam since humans figured they would start using otherwise worthless things (paper, nickel, gold) to "pay" for things that are actually needed to live. Money, whether fiat or based on something "tangible", is only worth as much as people who use it think it's worth.

Modern fiat currencies may be considered more "scammy" than historical currencies. They are essentially based on a complex network of debt instruments that does not collapse on itself for as long as the end user -- me, you and every other Average Joe -- use the currency to buy food, pay our rent and (yes) exchange for BTC.

I don't agree.

Limited supply is key.

The rest of your argument is valid ("is worth what people who use it think it's worth"), but that doesn't make money a scam.

Fiat money with elastic supply however, is a scam (OPs point)

It all started from Rockefeller family and similar to them. All they want is to enslave us by creating central goverement all over the world. We have now European Union, then they plan to create American and Asian unions. Next step: connecting all the unions into one with central world currency and central goverement. Fooling around with debt and it's issues is a great instrument for them to manipulate people. Seriously.

FIAT currency makes no sense. Based on growth, doesn't even nearly reflect the world GDP.  :'(  When will we learn  ???
