Its 1/100 chance to hit 50x and 1/10 chance for 3x. Isnt that a huge house edge?

The chance of matching the full number is of course 1/100. The chance of matching just one of the 2 digits (the first or the second) is 1/10 x 2=1/5  (there are 2 chance of 1/10 as the are 2 digits). When you place a bet on the Lucky Number (an integer between 00 and 99), with a single bet you have 3 different ways of winning and as total winning and as total winning odds the sum of the 3 possibilities: 21/100 (1/10+1/10+1/100).
In simple words when you place a unique bet on a single number you have 21 chance on 100 to win something.

But the real innovation we think we are bringing is the level of transparency and easiness of bets results verification. Nothing is decided o extracted by us.. It's the Bitcoin Blockchain that "produce" the lucky numbers whenever a new block is found by the miners community.

This is pretty much exactly how the original satoshi dice worked. They would have dedicated addresses that corresponded to various bets (based on theoretical win percentage rate), people would send btc to the address and after one confirmation you would either receive a very small amount to show that you lost or the win amount would be returned to you minus the TX fee.

It was so popular that most of the satoshi dice addresses are in the top 100 addresses with the most unique output addresses

And the house edge?

I don't think this is a very fair game :(

Cant see this taking off.

Blocks can take quite a while at times to come through. Be a bit boring placing a bet only to wait 30mins+ for the result. At least with sport you can watch the game etc.

Gambling is about the quick thrill/fix (dice) or putting skill/knowledge to use (poker). This has neither.

We know that having to wait few seconds up to 20+ minutes can be considered by someone as a downside of our game but the mission we are trying to accomplish is to set up a game that is 100% fair and this can be achieved through the amazing Blockchain.

It seems you have calculated the probabilities wrong.
The chance of matching only 1 digit should be 9/100 but not 1/10, as you should excluded the case of matching both digits.

We are currently updating the site increasing the multiplier from 50x to 60x in case you match the 2 digits Lucky Number. We set the multiplier to 2x instead in case you match only 1 of the digits of the Lucky Number.
We've done so because we think that our fans want to give a try to satoshinonce to win big... but if the luck is not coming your way fully, you can still make the double of your bet if you match just 1 digit...

So you've increased the house edge from a very generous -7% -4% to a more normal stingy 2% 4%?

If you want your players to "win big" you should leave the house edge negative and it will happen.  ::)

What do you do if the nonce changes later due to a reorg? It's possible for the bet transaction to be included in multiple blocks which appear in the main chain at some point in time. If you pay out immediately there's a chance you'll pay bets with finish up losing when the winning block gets orphaned and replaced by a different one.

Hi, that's a very important point.

If the Bet Transaction wins in the orphaned Block it will get paid at 1 confirmation, regardless if later on with the new Block it will loose.

If the Bet Transaction loose in the orphaned Block, once it will be placed in the new Block our system will scan it again and if this time the Bet is a winning one we will pay it.

This will assure that players will always be paid in case they win (in both cases, in the orphaned and in the new Block). It is a "risk" we are taking on our shoulder to give a better customer'e experience and also to give consistency to our verification process that we think is our added value, compared to other betting sites.

What are the Blocks?

Blocks are fundamental to the Bitcoin protocol as they contain the Bitcoin transactions.

That's why the miner (or the mining pool) that founds a new valid Block gets a nice reward: currently 25 new Bitcoins + all the fees attached to the transactions included in the Block he found.

How do the Bitcoin protocol and the Blockchain work?

The Bitcoin protocol and the Blockchain ledger have been designed and created by Satoshi Nakamoto in order to permanently record and securely store all the Bitcoin transactions on the Blockchain.
The Blockchain is the public ledger that contains all the Bitcoin transactions. Transactions, in order to be valid and not modifiable by fraudulent double spend attacks, have to be included inside a new valid block that will be attached to old ones in the Blockchain.
In simple words, when you do a Bitcoin payment, your transaction will show a "0" Confirmation status. This means that the Bitcoin network is aware of your transaction but the transaction has not been included and permanently stored in the Blockchain ledger yet. Once the transaction has been included in the next available valid block you will see that your transaction reaches "1" Confirmation. After 6 Confirmations (meaning 5 more blocks have been added to the Blockchain on top of the block that contains your transaction) the transaction can be considered perfectly valid and secured.

2 18's and 60 sum to 96% - that's the RTP if the blocks are never orphaned.

If you can find an orphan, your RTP is huge. :)

Imho, u need to tweak the payout to make the more probable win more profitable. Maybe 3x-33?  Or maybe you can make us choose a 3 digit number and give more options?
