Up for auction is a Cryptolator 1oz silver ‘unchained’ series physical Bitcoin #61 in the denomination of 1BTC (unfunded) http://cryptolator.com/ (http://cryptolator.com/). You will need to add your own bitcoin to the coin. It has been graded by ICG and received a rating of MS-69. This is an excellent rating for a physical bitcoin. ICG is one of only two of the top tier professional coin grading services that accept physical Bitcoins for grading. This coin comes with a certificate from the manufacturer. It has a multi-signature private key under the hologram that adds an additional layer of security for the buyer. You will receive a card with one of the two signatures required to unlock the private key. The second signature required to unlock the private key is secured under the hologram on the coin itself by the manufacturer. So, not even the manufacturer has had access to the private key. The highest grade I am aware of is a MS-70.

Depends on who grades them...ICG hands out higher grades than ANACS would for these. So a MS-69 ICG is probably an MS-67 ANACS wise. Also ANACS is a more respected company #3 of the big four. ICG being #4, but the top 2 will not grade physical cryptos  :-\

I am not convinced that ANACS hands out lower grades on Cryptolator silver series coins. The only ANACS one I have seen is a MS-68, which is also the lowest grade ICG gave any of the ones I sent in.

This has come up before without a good resolution as many collectors have their preference on which grader is best for cryptos. Do you want to do a test to see what grade ANACS would give? I'll send you two Cryptolator silver series graded by ICG at MS-68 or MS-69 that you submit to ANACS for regrading (you cover the cost for submitting to ANACS). If they score more than one grade in either direction, you can to keep them. If they score the same grade or +/- 1 grade, you mail them back. The worst case is you are out $28 plus shipping for the regrade. The best case is you get two coins for a good price.

I'll include them with the other two coins you won in the auction. No need to break open the slab, just submit them as crossovers. Let's avoid the chance of damaging the coin by cracking them open. If either of the coins are off by more than 1 grade (either direction), then you get to keep that coin. The coins I am sending are #68 and #59 both graded at MS-68 by ICG.

I am not so sure about sending them an already slabbed coin..seems that would possibly sway their grading? I think you should yank them from slabs and go that route.

I don't know, it could just as easily sway the grading in the opposite direction. If you are confident that you can break open the slab without damaging the coin, then we can go that route.

I would just use a dremel and cut the bottom part of the slab off. No chance of hurting the coin that way then peel it open. If you are good with me doing it, and will not hold me responsible I will yank them. I am 99% sure I can remove them damage free. Let me know!

It took all of 5 minutes to free those coins from the slabs...was easier than I would have guessed.

I've since received the coin from Pistachio and have been very happy with it. It looks amazing.

Nothing yet..I use economy service so will take a bit. Also with it being the holidays I expect a few are probably off work on vacation.

Status updated on ANACS website to "Shipping" so I will have grades tomorrow before they leave to me. I can not wait to see some MS-67/68's and score a free Silver!

Well I am working with ANACS right now on a guide for grading physical crypto coins. I will have a "how to" guide with a template form supplied by them and some other info soon.

It's not a complete lose on my side either. Keep in mind these were originally MS68 from ICG. So, the MS67 is still with in +/-1 grade. So, I still get one of them back  :D.

I do concede that ICG looks to be one to two grades higher than ANACS on these coins.

It's time to update this comparison between ICG and ANACS. I just got back 8 Cryptolator silver 1btc coins as crossovers from ICG to ANACS. They ALL received the same grade within one grade (all MS68 or MS69).

I left them in their slabs. I read on their site that they cover up the previous grade when grading crossovers, so the grader does not know the old grade. I see no reason to believe they would lie. I sent in an ANACS slabbed Casascius coin and it was regraded two points higher, so I think they really do cover up the old grades when grading them. It would have been easier for them to just say it's the right grade and send it back. I would have had to pay the same anyway.

Wait ... I did crack open one graded Cryptolator. It was that **** ANACS slabbed Cryptolator that I got back from Blazedout419. I sent it in naked and it received the exact same grade as before, MS66  :-\. So, ANACS does seem to maintain some consistency.
