Title: satoshis' private keys lost ?
Post by: J3VVL on November 29, 2014, 12:00:24 AM
I think this may be the case either the private keys are lost or he/she/them no longer have access?

Maybe satoshis' computers were lost , damaged, destroyed or hacked ?

Maybe he wasn't even expecting bitcoins to take off like this and he simply cleared his harddrive!

Question is could they ever be hacked or spent somehow?

How many years could it take to crack them?

Imagine what the community would be like if those coins were somehow redistributed?

:)

comments and free speech welcome!

Can we stop asking this question over and over again?

yes he might have tried to do it so many different times it was just another project to him ?

Or he is some insane genius with so many different projects going on at once that even 300million dollars is meaningless to him!? lol :) that would be epic

Why does it even matter? Threads like these are always useless.

It's a legitimate concern to the square community, but most Bitcoiners don't give a shit. And this is clearly just paid trollery. True story

Satoshi got very sick and was in the hospital for several months.  While in the hospital his mother sold his computer and a bunch of other stuff.  But she didn't sell the toy trains.  Satoshi is better now and still has his toy trains.

Which is more important? The fact that Satochi was Doréan Nâkamoto or that he lost his private keys?

Probably not. If you take into account the average age of the average person who would have the skills and experience required to to create Bitcoi then on an average level he will have an age of less then the average life expectancy of the average "world citizen"

Who cares if he lost his keys? Will he care if one of us got the same issue?

Actually its a good thing for the price if he lost his private keys. I doubt that he did but still it would be good.

Less supply = Higher Price.

Somehow I can't see him just losing them. He's either consciously abandoned them or just biding his time.

Yeh, could be very bad if they were dumped suddenly.

It's not important any more, just like central banks hold 20% of world's gold reserve, do you worry about that they would dump all of that gold into the market and crash the gold price to single digits?

The speculation in never end. Nobody will ever know so its a pointless discussion.
All we can see is that the coins doesn't seem to be moving so or all purposes we can assume they are out of circulation.

It is impossible to tell if anyone's private keys were lost until a transaction is actually broadcast moving coins from such addresses, but even then the transaction could have potentially been pre-signed prior to someone loosing such private keys.

This is why he would never have just 'deleted' his keys.
There's no way a guy like him would delete his own keys to make sure he didn't spend the coins.
It's also unlikely that a guy like him would 'lose' them either, though maybe he wasn't too careful with backups and lost a few, back when it was all 'pie in the sky' stuff.
So, imho, he still has most of them, doesn't need to spend any urgently, won't move any of the old  coins yet because of the effect it will have, etc.

In future he gets to spend some and at the same time provably burn/donate many of the coins in a way that does the least damage and has most beneficial effect.
