Title: The Legendary Status

Here in bitcointalk a lot of members attain the Legendary status.

Yes there a lot of them who is a great help to a certain site.

But should we trust them in every thing they say?

Obviously not, but those with high green trust like Dooglus generally know what they're talking about. Don't trust anyone with green or a certain usertitle just because they have it. Trust them because everyone else trusts them and YOU trust them. Following the crowd is USUALLY the right move. USUALLY. Not always. Just use your own judgment basically.

Legendary just means your post count is over like 840-950 or something.

It doesn't mean anything else besides that.

How about someone like you?

Hmmmm.. Im just curious, if you are asked by someone, should we trust you? What is your answer?

No, it deals with your activity.
My post count exceeds 1,000 and I am still a full member.

Isn't activity related to quality posts?

Maybe not! I'm not sure.

No you shouldn't trust us.

Do your own due diligence on things you hear or read.

Nope, you get 14 activity every 2 weeks if you make 14 posts. Even if your posts are nonsense, you still get the activity if you make 14 posts. And to OP, it's up to you who to trust. For example, tradefortress spend a lot of time building trust only to scam over 4100 btc with inputs.io

The max is 14 activity ever 2 weeks, yes. It is given out every 2 weeks once you hit 14 more posts.

No. You can literally spam / troll your way to legendary over time.. same with hero. You can also buy these accounts. No idea why people put so much trust in some of those members when there is no reason to.

Trust is a serious question, maybe somebody buys or hacks some legendary accounts, do you trust him/her?

I know some full members and senior members, even hero members are scammers.

Yeah, I think there was one suggestion where 3 legendarys could vote ban you, no way! That would mean 3 danks could ban us all! Rank is not an indication of trust, dank is legendary yet I don't think you would be willing to give him a 50 BTC loan.

if i have to choose to lend / deposit my coins between: (a) newbie (b) legendary with + status, i'd choose the latter

My choice would be whoever demonstrated better trustworthiness (that doesn't automatically mean the legendary account) and always with the understanding that anyone can turn scammer given sufficient motivation.

There are actually only 301 legendary members, out of roughly 385,000, therefore legendary members make up less then 1% of the population.

No you should not trust what they say or factor in the fact that they are a legendary member when making a determination if they should be trusted.

Hell no, why would you trust anybody with everything they say? Bit of a weird comment lol

Accounts can be bought and feedback can be padded, rank status shouldn't be a measure of trustworthiness.

The important thing is not posts count but your activity. You need to have at least activity 775 to become Legendary. That means your forum age should be at least 775 days.

But legendary membergroup has no universal activity requirement. You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity, but the exact point in this range at which you become Legendary is random per user.

Legendary accounts can be sold too, for example, you can see a legendary account with positive trust being sold here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=884060.0

Also you can see some legendary members with negative trust.

So no, never trust legendary people only because they are legendary, ever when they have positive trust

Title: Re: The Legendary Status

You shouldn't blindly trust anyone here just because of their rank or trust score but you can use them when weighing up your judgment. For instance, a Legendary member is unlikely to scam you out of 0.05btc because he could sell the account for far more and his reputation is likely worth something to him, but you also have to take into account the possibility that the account may be compromised so check other things like if their password has been reset and if their language or behaviour has changed recently etc. If in doubt insist on using a trusted escrow (but apply the same rules and logic to them also).

Go to a persons trust page and it will tell you there at the top if it has been reset recently.

Do not trust based on forum status...I did that and got scammed pretty good. The guy that scammed me was a donor and had a good amount of green trust. I learned that lesson the hard way, and hope others do not have to get screwed to also learn it. I trust a few people here, but only due to trades and there feedback.

I believe this will only tell you if the password was reset within the last 30 days or changed within the last 3 days.

A better indication would be to check the security log @ bitcointalk.org/seclog.php

No, activity is a very poor indicator of a person's ability to be trusted. The activity is only an indication of how much time they have spent here. If a person who was going to scam has spent a long time here then he will have had a lot of time to study the market and what people will and will not believe and what they will and will not invest in.

If you are referring to quality of posts then it will only be an indicator of intelligence, and there are plenty of smart people who are scammers
