How about a BFL subforum? This would clearly corral most of the recent traffic with not much loss for everyone else. BFL devices are black boxes, so the actual technology inside is immaterial. I guess it seems tidy enough to me to just put the upgrade posts in the ASIC category since they are switching to ASIC. One potential problem with a BFL subforum is that it might amount to a bit of free publicity/advertising for BFL, but maybe I'm off-base in thinking that. Frankly, I think its OK as-is, but I can understand that people who want to talk about FPGAs find it annoying to see all the BFL/ASIC chatter.
