Title: [GLBSE] Seeking Trade Data
Post by: mollison on June 24, 2012, 07:55:00 AM
I am working on a very simple GLBSE analysis tool. I want to get the entire trade history.

Fortunately, the entire trade history is archived on GLBSE's Twitter feed.

Unfortunately, Twitter only allows you to pull the 3,200 most recent tweets from a feed. (In this case, back to July 17.)

Does anybody have an archive of trade data? If so, I'd love to get a hold of it. (I'd be happy to share my analysis tool with you in return!)

If nobody has an archive: Does anybody know how I can get an archive? I have already tried the following things.

(1) Inquired at the Library of Congress (they supposedly archive all public tweets). They should reply in 5 business days. However, I am guessing that this data is not easily publicly available.

(2) Briefly looked into 2 pay services that provide social media data. One of them does not seem to offer this kind of information. I sent an inquiry to the other, but I am doubtful. Also, since that service is designed for "enterprise" use, the price looks like it would be more than I want to pay.

(3) I thought about trying to scrape the IRC logs of the #bitcoin-assets channel, but it does not appear to be logged (anywhere that I am aware of).

Any advice would be apprciated.

Given the long list of outstand feature requests for GLBSE, I think it's probably too much to ask Nefario to provide this information, but that would (of course) be the best solution.  ;D

I think stochastic offers on his dropbox account a CSV of all trade data since GLBSE 2.0 started... check out his statistics threads in this forum section.

Thank you, Sukrim.

For future reference, the referenced thread is here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74711.0).

It also seems to be trivial to just parse the javascript that goes into generating the charts on each asset page, to get data going back to where GLBSE 2.0 started.

There does not seem to be any currently available source for data before that point until GLBSE releases it. (In case Nefario reads this - I have decided I don't really need that old data right now anyway, so no biggie.)
