Title: [REVIEW] Spoondoolies Legendary Offer -jimbit
Post by: jjiimm_64 on December 19, 2014, 04:18:37 AM
First let me Thank spoondoolies for this awesome (and legendary) opportunity!!!

backround:

I have been mining coins since June 2011.  I set up a bunch of linuxcoin miners with 4x5970's and a bunch of 5870's.....  I then upgraded to a bunch of 7970's which are still running mining x11.
My asic experience is BFL singles and an army of antminers.  Also have experience with HashFast :( .

here is a pic of the my current setup and before I upgraded from S1 to S3:

First impression:

The SP20 is a very sexy no frills get it rockin miner!  Came well boxed and was very easy to setup.

My plan for this review is:

day 1:  plug it in, run it stock in the warm office
day 2:  up the max watts to 288, move it to warehouse
day 3: up the max volts to 0.79

DAY 1:
Initial setup

I pulled a couple of old SeaSonic 650 gold X psu's to use for this test  (the second pic has the day 2 settings, killawatt is 1197)

I logged into myminer.io, got my IP and logged in, set up my pools and let it run all stock settings:

after 1 day, we had   1516Gh at 1040 watts

DAY 2:

On the second day, I had some help from sunbreak, and he introduced me to the asicStatus page.  we pushed the max watts on the settings page to 270.. then to 288. I moved the rig out of the office and into the warehouse and after 24 hours this is the result.

1627gh  ~1200watts

The dashboard will show only up for about 1 hour. during the day one of the psu turned off(had to change metal clip) and it was still running when I got back to the shop at half speed.

btw: if your reading my overall power, you have to double it. it is only reading 2 of the 4 legs into shop.

I then bumped the voltage up to .79, after a few minutes captured results

Day 3:

edit:  currently Mining Rate: 1653.05Ghs   1245watts   (1653 not match pic)

after 24 hours, the asic stats look great. a testament to the ability of the spool to self regulate.

pros:
rig appears to be very well built.
  very sexy for a miner
  runs solid and steady.
the asics setting apparently autotune themselves to the environment they are in (VERY kool)
nice density if you dont have alot of room
easy to get mining soon out of the box
transparency of settings and asics setting.  VERY big plus here.
efficient, wether you want to overclock cause of cheap power? or you want to underclock to save power. this rig will do it.

cons:
  authorized_keys not working
does NOT hit the 1700. (at least not for me) they should probably advertise this as a 1500gh miner overclockable.
I am no security expert, but what is up with the keys from spoon in the root dir?
Not likiing the fact that as soon as I turn it on, it reports back to the company who and where I am.

Conclusion

Even though I have only had this miner 3 days, it is fast becoming my favorite.  I plan on making a fairly large purchase soon to fill out the rest of the racks.
Spoondoolies have proven themselves to be a reliable, first rate asic manufacture

Thank you again!!!

Go to settings and turn off "Send device data to Spondoolies-tech.com (enabled by default)."

Only if there's an connection out to the Internet. It could be setup on a local net before connected to the Internet.

i'm still gobsmacked at how straight and stable my meagre 8.686TH/s is
and I can say , 8686GH/s and fluctuates only by the smallest of percentages - even pool stats show a minimal variation on the GUI stats, which is pretty astounding considering i mine on a DGM pool which gives 3%PPS and 97%DGM, the packet data sent has given stats all over the place in the past with other types of miner.

I finally sold my last 2 bitmain miners.  8)
