Title: Low efficiency issue.
Post by: Lectoid on May 19, 2011, 08:30:02 PM
Newb here, but I've done some reading. I have already started pricing AMD cards . I tried a google search for my issues below, but got nothing. And this site says I can't use the search function here. So I apologize if the solution has been posted.

I started with the poclbm-mod then shortly after saw that phoenix was supposedly better. I have an older Nvidia 9600 GSO 512 card that phoenix seems to get about 9.75Mh/s (poclbm-mod gets about 6.5). When I was running poclbm using:

poclbm-mod.exe -v -w 128 --user=user --pass=pass -d 0 -o site.com -p 8332

my DOS screen was full of "long poll: new block".

When I switch to phoenix using:
phoenix.exe -u http://user:pass@site.com:8334/ -k poclbm AGGRESSION=9 WORKSIZE=128 -v

I mostly get a lot of "New block (workqueue) and "server gave new work; passing to workqueue".
Code:
[19/05/2011 16:20:47] Server gave new work; passing to WorkQueue
[19/05/2011 16:20:57] Server gave new work; passing to WorkQueue

Also the occasional result accepted and a few rejected.

I've adjusted settings and can't seem to make a difference. I am not expecting faster Mhash/sec. My issue is efficiency. Is there something I can do to increase that? I was banned from bitcoinpool because of crappy efficiency. Now I am using slush pool or whatever because they don't ban for low efficiency. On bitcoinpool's forums, they would tell me it should be better, but not how to make it better.

are you overclocking that card by chance?  that's an awful lot of rejected shares.
