Hm interesting, now many coins use that. And no new coins use that. I guess its harder to make a coin with Neoscrypt then with x11 for example.

Still no new neoscrypt coins ? :)

If they prefer to descend into oblivion rather than join NeoScrypt, so be it :)

Many scrypt coins are not developed any more.

Well maybe its much harder to change/develop a neoscrypt coin. Which is good :)

Still it would be good if some more coins adopt neoscrypt, it will be good for all :)

None of them make profit if the electricity is >$0.05/kWh

I don't think there are any good profits with BTC hitting 180 USD today unless you have free electricity indeed...

Does anyone have AMD cards mining neoscrypt? I read online that a RX 480/580 can do 600+ hashrate but the best I can get is ~310 kh/s using NSGminer.  Sgminer 5.6 won't even connect to pools. If anyone has an example of their .bat file and the miner they're using I'd be very curious to see it as well as your hashrate.

$180 seems like so long ago.  Remember the guy from Back to the Future 2 who wished he could go back and put some money on the Cubbies?  I wish I had put more money on the BeeTeeCees.
Still doing okay.  I got in around $230 in mid-2015.

HD7990 is pulling up to 1MH/s, R9 290X can do over 600KH/s depending on clock speeds. Need to optimise better for the RX series, so they can match and exceed the R9 290X in performance. I have the hardware, just not enough free time.

I have even more distant memories of BTC being worth next to nothing, but no one knew for sure whether the whole cryptocurrency idea was going to succeed or fail miserably.

After playing around some more I get a steady ~450 Kh/s with a stock Rx 480 8GB in one of my personal computers.  It doesn't seem to change much if I lower or raise worksize, intensity etc... I haven't tried adjusting core clocks or memory to see if that has any effect on it.

I did a fair bit of mining back in 2011 when Bitcoin was starting to be heard of in the geekier regions of the internet. My last sale before I quit for a number of years was 70 BTC for $12 each. If only I had a crystal ball back then.... ;)

N=128 for NeoScrypt, N=1024 for Scrypt

No one has bothered yet to increase NeoScrypt N for any production use. It's ASIC resistant by default.

It's possible technically, though unlikely to happen. NeoScrypt will compete with Dagger Hashimoto for memory bandwidth.

So what is the miner of choice? For both AMD and Nvidia? Secondly which is better in your opinion?

NSGminer is for AMD and old NVIDIA, CUDAminer is for new NVIDIA. There are other miners which may do better on specific GPUs.
