Post by: AwesomeTRADER on December 25, 2014, 07:15:30 AM
Hey there guys,
Off late I've taken a lot of intetrest in Bitcoin arbitrage and i feel that it is not much profitable now compared to what it was.
Do you think that arbitrage bots are useful? how many of you have used it and how much profit have you made?
Post your opinion, eperiences or whatever you'd like to add on this discussion

You need to wait for a good time, there are still a lot of arbitrage opportunities for now, for example last week

Bitcoin arbitrage is quite inconvenient. Altcoins, on the other hand, makes for good profits through this. Pick one which is having a rally and you can easily make a few BTCs.

Bitcoin can be very profitable.

The most important thing is to stick to one main currency which let you avoid high bitcoin daily movements.

For example my Fiat currency which i use for arbitrage is USD. That means at end of every transactions circle i'm trying to collect all funds at USD account.

Much more profitable is arbitrage with use of two different currencies. Most difficult thing is to avoid high deposit/withdrawal fees. You need to remember that arbitrage usually gives you around 0.5-1.5% if done right way. So you can't pay 1% deposit or withdrawal fees.

Also other thing which you have to look at is Volume. Don't get tricked by medium price. Usually there are many crappy buy/sell orders made by scalping robots.  Remember always buy as many bitcoins as you can sell at same time.

Anyway... that were basics, I don't want to post details here.

If the price of the bitcoin changes suddenly you will not get good results and trading fees also to be considered.

But earlier the main was quite a lot,  like when Mt. Gox was online. Those days were really good.

That's why You should consider using one of FIAT currencies as base for arbitrage. Daily low/high difference of BTC is something like 10% (if you take a wider look even on smaller local markets).

If You want constant profit, without carrying about BTC price, that is good option. Arbitrage trades are fast, and profit is secured almost at same time when order is made.

In my opinion BTC is still not stable, so i won't put my savings in it. Prefer to stay with USD at the moment.

There are a lot of people doing Bitcoin arbitrages with hundreds of thousands of Dollar each so the possibility to have a huge profit from Bitcoin arbitrage should be small.

picolo, you're right, but not exactly in 100%.

Problem of arbitrage is market depth. There are probably much more better ways to invest for example 200-300BTC, but i think for capital around 100BTC, arbitrage is still very profitable.

Now my capital is something like 10BTC, and i can easily make at least one arbitrage circle daily and get profit around 1% after fees.

For me most important is safe and stable profit and i can easily achieve that with arbitrage.

I can believe it's possible to find a way to have a circle of profit.

Arbitrage works well when there are balances on both side in more than one exchange. Sometimes, during a rally I may have to transfer once or twice during a day at the most, and it usually doesn't hinder the trading.

I'm not sure what You mean. If 15-20% monthly profit isn't good enough for You, that means You must be a really good trader from top league, or just don't know what are You talking about.

You need the cash and the skills to do it. Your profit will end up disappearing when the exchange disappears  ;D

Does that mean you earn 3 BTC a month from arbitrage?

Actually i made 2.3BTC in last 40 days.

1% profit everyday would be even more than 3BTC/month but maybe he can't get a good arbitrage trade every day.

IMO the only time worth Arbing is when China is up to shenanigans while the Western world is sleeping.  BTC-e is a good place to buy below market average, then Bitstamp (also known as bullstamp) to sell above.

Two main problems with Arb trading on BTC or any other alt-coin.

1) profit margins are very thin (~ 1% max) and BTC price movements cannot be hedged. Yes you can generate profitable trades with a 100 BTC worth of trades but if the BTC price declines by 15% during that time period your profits are more than offset

2) lack of viable hedging tools to lock in prices and do real arb trading

You got good ideas how such a tool should look and work?

1-Yes but sometimes you will profit if the price goes up or declines 15% depending on if you are in cash or bitcoins at the time.
2-You can create your system.

Real profit from arbitrage lays in currencies different that USD/EUR/RUB/CNY.

Those markets are just too big, it is similar to arbitrage on forex, but on bitcoins arbitrage opportunities are sometimes even for 10% gain. And it is possible even 24/7 without keeping funds in BTC for long.

You just need to do it right way bros.
