Title: Blockchain.info Wallet Encryption/Backup issues
Post by: mrflibblehat on December 29, 2014, 02:55:03 AM
Hi All,

I have tried to login to my wallet tonight which works but when I try to enter the second password it says "error decrypting wallet". I know this password is correct however due to me being extremely OCD about password keeping and safety.

Check the Mnemonic and this shows the password I was expecting. The only conclusion I have come to is that the wallet has become corrupted.

So I have downloaded my latest backup from email which I received when I last logged into the wallet which is a wallet.aes.json file. I have imported this into an old version of multibit which supports blockchain.info files. Typed in both passwords and it decypts it, Tells me there is 3 keys but errors at "Missing Dates, Have to go back to genesis block", I have tried earlier backups but same issues. How to I get multibit to read from beginning of blockchain? I assume that is what the error message is saying?

Is there any way I can decrypt this using linux tools, I know my passwords and multibit can obviously see my keys (as it can tell there are 3) but is not showing me, im just unable to get to my BTC. I have contacted support quite a while ago but no response as of yet.

Thanks for any help you may provide!

MrF

For future reference, I managed to get my private keys and restore my service with this software here.
