I think the bigger question is when will merchants accept BTC as BTC without converting it immediately via the likes of bitpay.
That is what we need to be aiming for.

That is a biproduct of more merchants accepting it.

Frankly speaking, there is no way to predict without any data or information so basically everything will be purely from wild guess. We have seen microsoft going into it just last month. Paypal next, which they have clearly indicated their interest, but I haven't seen the implementation just yet. If those two corporations become successful when it comes to bitcoin integration and the response from buyers are overwhelming, well from there it will be a chain effect that includes Amazon joining the party. My guess would be by end of this year or early next year

Depends on the general population using bitcoin, as long as they see increase in sales if they do accept, they will.

Well If It's dosen't matter "If" then I would say it would be in June 2015 mate ;D I'am saying that they are giving it a shot on Twitch.tv since they added it there (and Amazon bought twitch) maybe they are considering adding it to Amazon but just seeing how Popular it is by using it on Twitch first , that's what I think

I asked customer support once I don't think they have plans to integrate it.  Stick with purse??

I think it would be more like the result of businesses that tend to do business with other businesses accepting bitcoin. I do agree that this will likely result in the price of bitcoin to increase as well as the overall chances of bitcoin succeeding

I switched to Amazon from eBay when I began to detest PayPal. So I hope they will take BTC soon. They are a supercompany, and they are reliable, I think they will wait until they see bitcoin as reliable (for themselves) before the adopt it.

My guesstimate is August. Middle of the summer in the US.

After 2015. I don't think it will be done this year. In terms of mass-adoption, Bitcoin still is in its infancy and more of an experiment. Amazon puts their effort in being easy to use and understand. As of now they don't care that much about Bitcoin, I believe. Although I guess they are watching it in to at least some amount!

What merchants are you talking about?
Most big merchants which accept bitcoin, actually sell it instantly, so they don't really get hit by the drops in prices.

2015 is going to be the year, man! I've got a feeling that a ton of "mainstream" merchants are going to jump on the train this year. Amazon may also be one of them. They are now realizing this is the way to go and probably already are preparing the integration as we speak!!!

Summer already? Man that would really be fast! I can't wait to wake up and read the latest news on Coindesk stating that Amazon now accepts Bitcoin. I'll then look at the price and see it has double in mere minutes  ;D

They have to decided to accept BTC first, otherwise your question will never be relevant. However, I agree that your point is critical for merchant acceptance of BTC to affect the movement positively.

Even if they sell their BTC immediately it helps to further and spread BTC's adoption. It is free advertisement and fosters the peoples' believe in BTC. They see it is a legitimate currency they can use to buy goods at the biggest retailer in the world(!!!). There's no better way of proving Bitcoins legitimacy!

Let's pray it's a ways down the road. An Amazon integration in the current lopsided state of integration would cut the price of bitcoin in half.

Technically, they don't accept paycoin. It's just a plugin used to purchase with it.

You could do the same thing with a plugin that will also accept bitcoin in the same way.

But I voted for after 2015. Amazon seems to be careful for new currencys.

I would consider that an argument in favor of bitcoin. That if they have their own coin, they would be open to bitcoin as well

I guess this is still going to take some time. They only like to incorporate more or less mature systems. And a lot of people still have problems of 'getting' Bitcoin to begin with. Why would they want to meddle with another currency? Don't get me wrong, I'd love them accept BTC, but most people just don't get/want the advantages of Bitcoin.
