Beautiful. If every Bitcoin site looked that good, we'd have already taken over half the world.

Cam girls especially need to make use of this!!

Very nice indeed!

Would you consider the option to add other currencies besides dollars in raised and goal ?

It seems to already have BTC, USD, EUR, GBP, CNY, and CAD.

I guess people should make a new address, but there might be circumstances where they don't want to or can't do that. For example a July fundraiser by a site that wants to use the same address as always for transparency. Maybe have a checkbox for "disregard previous payments to this address"?

Great idea!
I will check with the programmers to see about implementing this.

I made a widget already, but I am not showing it yet. First, I need to get out a bitcoin related extension for chrome, then I can start raising money. Need to pay rent.

Does this site, hold on to the btcs then when the goal or time is up, it releases or does it just give the address and count the amount from a certain time?

No. It doesn't hold any bitcoin, so trust is not required. It only track addresses for you.

This is SO STINKING COOL!!

Feature request: List active widgets, especially those that have received contributions!

Are you going to integrate with bitstarter? (http://bitstarter.weebly.com/ (http://bitstarter.weebly.com/))

For those of us using previously existing addresses could we perhaps also have the option to display the balance rather than the sum of all donations? I generated a sample widget for an address I played a little SatoshiDice with and holy cow it thinks I've got a lot of money there  ;D

Well, that's another idea I had that I now have to cross off of my list (at least I know I have my finger on the pulse of the market). Seriously, though, I'm glad you built this instead of me, because even the version in my head looked really poorly compared to your slick widget. Best wishes.

One recommendation: Instead of "Title of Widget" (which at first I thought just meant you had neglected to finish the site design), maybe something like "Your Name Here" to make it more personal to the prospective user.

Also, consider adding the tag line "Avoid PayPal fees!" as PayPal Business and Premier accounts are charged fees for regular Chipin (http://blog.chipin.com/fees/) as well as debit/credit card use, sending from outside U.S. etc.

This can go a looooong way toward expanding Bitcoin awareness  ;D

Hello! Why of course ...just got to think how. Let me brainstorm a little bit and see how we integrate this into our system as we have our own system but obviously the more exposure to projects the better. I'll PM you or respond here  ;D

Some clue as to what format you want the end date field would be useful.

I guessed, and got to a page that says:
  {"msg":" The following fields are invalid: date"}

Does it want mm/dd/yy?  dd/mm/yy/  ddmmyy?

I tried "111212", "3rd Dec 2012", "3/12/12" (which got me to a page saying just "{"id":80}"), "12/'12/12", "3/12/12" again (which got me: '{"msg":"Widget for this Bitcoin address already generated"}', so I guess the id:80 message was a success message...

[later] Ah, it turns out I have to have javascript enabled - then clicking the date field pops up a calendar.  It would be useful if the site told me it needed javascript to work properly.

Also, clicking the "create a free widget" link at the top of the page seems to do nothing but take me back to the page I'm already on.

I enabled Javascript, reloaded the page, and created a widget.

It says "raised so far: 2.43 BTC (0 BTC)" - surely some mistake?

I tried again with a different address, leaving the currency selection at the default value of 'BTC', and again it puts two different BTC amounts - the true one, and "0 BTC" under it:

https://i.imgur.com/DhvOH.png

Also, is there any way to modify an existing widget, if I wanted to switch the target, or the end date or currency say?  It won't let me make a 2nd widget for the same address.

To make sure I fully understand this, when you contribute, the fund-raising entity gets the money. If the goal is not reached, is there any support for refunds?

I understand the desire to make a Kickstarter style system, and this is a really nice start. The next step is to upgrade the core Bitcoin software so true assurance contracts become possible - I should be able to "chip in" funds that are not taken from my wallet until the goal is reached. The protocol for this is described here:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Contracts#Example_3:_Assurance_contracts

It can be combined with multi-signature outputs to produce dispute-mediated fundraisers.

The programming is a little tricky, but I'd feel much safer chipping in to something where the money would only be taken from my wallet on successful completion of the goal.

It doesn't seems to be a kickstarter system to me because it's more than just a fancy widget that show much money are raised.

Love it & I've got one now. Title font seems a bit too big (not like your site's display model); pushes the rest of the widget contents down:

http://bitcoingamelist.com/about.php

I can adjust the font with my own CSS, but wanted to show this to you as a (very minor) failure case. Maybe consider white-space:nowrap (but only if font is guaranteed to fit horizontally, of course). Best wishes!

UPDATE: I've tweaked the widget code (on the site above) to fit better. Very easy to adjust, thank you!

Hah, just realized this is a year old... I've really been needing something like this. My plan, in case anyone is interested, is to use this to fundraise for my scientific research projects. I recently accepted position as a university professor at research university and I think it would  be interesting to see if people would be willing to contribute to research on molecular machines and such.

Hmm... I can't seem to make nice widgets like other people have posted here. There's no theme selection either... am I missing something?

While I am providing feedback, I created a fundraising goal of $100 K USD and it saved the widget with a $99999.9999 goal, which is a little annoying.

Do you want feedback here or elsewhere?

OK, some quick thoughts:

1) Please have three buttons: Next step, previous step, and save widget (instead of one button). It's annoying when I just want to edit the title of the widget but not change anything else.

2) More customization options? I assume this must be coming.

3) The "about" text is currently unreadable. I can post a screenshot if necessary.

4) Can the deadline for the fundraising goal be optional? I don't need to have deadlines for my purposes (whenever the money is raised, the project begins).

If by themes you mean widget styles, yes... In fact, it sounds like we're going to scrap the current (1990s-themed) ones altogether.

I meant the "about" text that goes on the widget itself, not on the about page of the website. Looking forward to updates!
