Title: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: lucidlepidoptera on July 04, 2012, 08:09:11 PM
Hi, all!

I'm planning to start a new business which will accept bitcoin as a payment method for my homemade items.  I'd really like some good ideas/suggestions for a name, and if i get some really good ones, I'll make a poll later on and use them as options!  Here's a partial list of items that will potentially be offered on my site, to give you a feel for what I'll be doing:

puppy chow
candied bacon
chex mix
seasoned nuts/mixes
     (cajun, sweet, candied, bbq, chocolate?)
chai tea bags
herbal teas
breads
     (zucchini, chocolate, herb, lemon-poppy seed)
espresso cookies
peanut butter cookies
     (almond, peanut, cashew)
chocolate mint cookies
oatmeal cookies
     (apple, raisin, strawberry, fig, pear)
gingerbread cookies
cinnamon cookies
chocolate cookies
caramel
fudge
toffee
brittle
brownies
popcorn seasonings
(cajun, cheesy, garlic/onion, chili, curry, cinnamon/sugar)
spice blends
     (bbq, cajun, italian, sweet/spicy)
cat treats (catnip cookies)
catnip toys

You get the general idea here. ;-)  At any rate, please feel free also to suggest other items that might fit in well, remember though that they have to be mail-friendly.  Thanks in advance for your ideas!

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH FATIGUE, EVER FOR ANY REASON!!

Just thought I'd let anyone who's interested know, Fatigue scooped up the bitpantry.com site out from under me before I could even get set up, then offered to sell it to me for 'cheap'.  I caved and bought the damn thing, and now months later, it comes to light that when he registered it to begin with he used false information.  Now, the site is shut down because of the fraudulent information HE used to register the domain out from under us in the first place,  we can't even get the information changed to our correct info and pay for it properly, it's all just gone.

So to anyone considering doing ANY business with Fatigue, especially buying domain names from him, all I can say is DON'T.  He is a dishonest, unscrupulous, opportunistic person and you should run VERY VERY FAST in the opposite direction from him.

Well I really would have appreciated you talking to me about this, it was well mentioned in my thread that if you wanted your information used all you had to do was give it to me... I didn't pressure you in to anything if I do remember correctly. If you feel like you deserve your money back you can pm me and I will be happy to oblige you. I was really only offering that service to give the availability of reasonably priced domains to the community. The money was really only to stop every new guy from wasting my time and instead sort out people who actually needed them.

Like I said, if you feel it is warranted, please just shoot me a pm, ill have no problem sorting it out.

You know, it's funny that you mention how your forum post says you'll use our information, etc.  I seem to recall (and have the pm's to prove it) that YOU contacted me saying you had ALREADY REGISTERED the domain name I was going to be using and that you'd sell it to me for cheap.  At NO point in time did I have ANY opportunity to have my own info used for anything, so if you'd like to continue to pretend as if I did, by all means, do so.  I have my proof at hand, ready to be viewed by your customer base.

There's never been much of a customer base for starts, and yes I did pre register, but at any time you could have asked your information used. My thread does state that incorrect information will be used unless you ask me. I truly am sorry this happened, like I said, reimbursement will be no issue if you choose to ask.

Ok, I'd appreciate a reimbursement, you can send it here: 1BMTaEn4ftF7H4A3vApSfKiSpTHUg4LSkC .  Just a thought, next time you offer to sell someone a domain, especially one you "bought" out from under them, and you PM the person, who likely has never seen or heard of your domain thread...you might actually bother to offer all that information that you just trotted out to defend yourself with.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business

Sent. And I do believe I sent enough extra that you can visit coindomains(don't remember if its a .com or .net) and get one while keeping your reimbursement.

We've received payment and are currently working with the domain registrar to see if we can get it released to us.  We'll keep you updated on how that's going.

My suggestion: BitMart

Edit: my bad, must read whole thread

Also

Sell toilet paper. It's cheap, doesn't perish long term, and EVERYONE needs it (or at least I hope so!)

Perhaps a separate bulk toilet-paper site? BitRolls.com? Maybe special editions with Greenbacks or Euros printed on the sheets? (bet Gavin Andressen would buy...)

Yes, and it doesn't look promising for trying to get it back.  So during the interim, the entire site is down, till we move it to an alternate domain.  Yay.

i dont see a problem with this. he thought of the business name. he registered the domain. people register domains to sell all the time. its called capitalism.

The problem is this:  it would have been irksome, but otherwise no big deal if reg'ing it out from under me was ALL he did.  The very fact that he did so with blatantly false information, which has caused all the trouble now, is what is the problem.

i also use false information for everything i do online. i doubt he knew of the complications that would cause when transferring ownership. why not be mad at the domain provider? they seem to be the ones who isnt allowing you to take control of the domain. i understand your frustration but telling everybody to beware of him isnt fair. he did refund you.

Do you use false information including false payment information.  The domain was free to begin with but required him to input credit card information for when it began billing, and according to them it was invalid/false information, which is why months down the road this is happening.  Oh, and the cute little fact that when he sold it to us he never bothered to mention that.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BTC guy on August 16, 2012, 01:18:53 AM
i would have used a virtual CC. this way i can give them legitimate billing information without giving up my personal information. i would be pissed too if i paid for something and then had it taken away months later. especially if i was trying to run a business. im not really defending him i was just saying i dont think he did this on purpose. he just wanted to make a buck and i can relate to that. why wont the domain provider let you update the payment and ownership information?

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BitPantry on August 16, 2012, 01:34:04 AM
We did update the owner information.  The domain registrar reverted the information to the original owner and refuses to allow us to pay for it or switch it back over into our names because the original owners information was fraudulent.  Basically it seems like they've just locked it down and there's not much we can do about it.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BTC guy on August 16, 2012, 01:39:13 AM
that does suck. i would think all they care about is getting paid. does fatigue still technically own the domain? did he try to contact them and explain the situation?

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BitPantry on August 16, 2012, 01:42:39 AM
Fatigue never contacted them in the first place, as far as I can tell.  He obtained the domain originally (for the purpose of selling it immediately to me) through a Google small business promotion for free.  Even though he got it for free, he apparently used false/bad credit card information and didn't bother to tell me when he sold it to me literally the next day.  So, I apologize if it seems a bit harsh, but I just don't see how any of it could be 'accidental'.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BTC guy on August 16, 2012, 01:54:31 AM
did he use fake name or just fake CC information? if he used his real name he might still own it. maybe they will deal with him if he calls. if he used a fake name wouldnt that mean the domain becomes available for sale again?

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BitPantry on August 16, 2012, 01:56:10 AM
Haha, he used a fake name.  Unless of course, Fatigue really *is* Jackie Chan.  They've told us the domain is not for sale, at least not at this point.

at least you got your coins back. alot of people would have burned you. i wish you luck with your new business.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: TheButterZone on August 16, 2012, 02:06:25 AM
If they are refusing to unlock it and sell it to you (doesn't make sense for them to keep it if it was fraudulently registered), might want to look into filing a domain name dispute if it's cheap enough, or tell the registrar that you're ready to file if they continue being assholes.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BTC guy on August 16, 2012, 02:07:51 AM
if you really want it fight for it. if nobody owns it you should be able to purchase it.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BitPantry on August 16, 2012, 02:13:22 AM
We're still going to try to get it back.  It's just frustrating because there was zero reason for any of it to happen in the first place.  Fatigue *could* have just been a decent human being and said up front that he had done this and given us a chance to fix/change it before all this happened.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BTC guy on August 16, 2012, 02:21:13 AM
it sounds like you had control of the site for a few months before billing became an issue. why didnt you update all the billing information the day you bought it from him?

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BitPantry on August 16, 2012, 02:23:25 AM
We did.  All the info was reverted back by the domain registrar when they discovered it was originally registered fraudulently.  We had control of the site for exactly 40 days.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business

We paid .5 btc to Fatigue for it but we have had a lot more than that in lost revenue because of all this.

Title: Re: Name ideas for my new business
Post by: BTC guy on August 16, 2012, 02:41:48 AM
i believe you. lost revenue sucks. i can respect fatigues hussle but seeing all the stress this caused for 0.5 BTC seems silly. he should of been cool about it and let you have it without trying to scoop it up and tax you for it.
