Title: What is everyone using for management of mixed miners at home?
Post by: MCHouston on January 08, 2015, 10:19:46 PM
I am just wondering what everyone is using.  I have a little over 50 miners mostly Bitmain so it easy at the moment to switch pools, identify dead asics and reboot, etc.  Some other stuff like Gridseed, BTCGarden, and Spondoolies have made their way into my home farm.  I was just thinking of what a pain it would be to switch pools manually, or to reboot dead ascis, or monitoring.  Do people just use a different tool for every vendor?  Is there one out there that can do all vendors?

What do you use?

Thanks.

MultiMiner should work with all of them, I've personally tested them with Bitmain and Gridseed and have users with Spondoolies. You can change pools, restart, reboot, start / stop, monitor them remotely from your browser etc.

I will give it a try this week.  I think I tried it 4 months ago, and even if I disabled the video card in multiminer from mining, it woud randomly cause me to loose video and maybe lockup every 8-24 hours.

Took a system hard restart to get things back up and running. This was on Windows 8 x64

Thanks.

First I've heard of anything like that. If it happens feel free to report an issue with details from the Windows Event Viewer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6vUOyxmU1o):

http://issues.multiminerapp.com

I have it running 24/7 as do thousands of others and there are no outstanding issues like this that I am aware of.

I will give it a try tomorrow and run it over the weekend and let you know.

Questions.  I will be approaching over 254 miners in the near future. Does this work across subnets?  Or is there a way to have one per /24 subnet then have a master one connecting them all?

Thanks.

MultiMiner will go through each of your network interfaces and automatically determine the subnet and IP address range and then scan those ranges for ports 4028-4030.

It will only scan Class C subnets automatically. You can optionally scan other classes via the Advanced Application Settings (https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/wiki/Settings#advanced-application-settings).

Though it's not as fully featured as a lot of the other applications out there, CryptoGlance provides you with a "Mining Dashboard".

It that enables you to get information from:
 - Mining rigs
 - Pools you're mining on via API access (Custom pools should be requested via github, link below)
 - Address balances (Currently: BTC, LTC, VTC, RDD, DRK, DOGE, and NEOS. More can be requested via github, link below)

Windows application available for quick-setup. The project is open-source.

GitHub: https://github.com/cryptoGlance/cryptoGlance-web-app
BitcoinTalk Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=569924.0

For the bleeding edge features, change your updating settings in CryptoGlance to Nightly builds.

So I would need to have a PC with multiple NICs?  One in each /24 subnet I want to monitor?

Does it allow for pool changes and reboot if ASICs get XX's?

It's tough to say without knowing your specific network setup. The current code will automatically find any miner that is on the same network your PC is on. You can also manually manage entries in the NetworkDevicesConfiguration.xml file if needed.

Yes, you can switch pools and reboot an asic, however there is no automatic reboot (yet) if a miner dies. Automated processes such as scheduled pool changing, etc will be available in the near future. An updated timeline was posted in the bitcointalk thread.

You could also take a look at Awesome Miner (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=676942.0), that can be used to manage and monitor mining of both Bitcoin and altcoins, no matter if you are using standalone ASIC's or GPU's.

You can switch pool of all miners, or group of miners, at the same time. You also have many powerful features for notifications and rules, and Awesome Miner can detect problems with a miner and restart it automatically if you want.

You also get access to the feature Awesome Profit Switching (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=723820.0), that are using both real-time multi-pool statistics and coin statistics to automatically switch between multiple multi-pools and different algorithms to always ensure highest possible profitability for your miners. For ASIC's you will of course not be able to switch between multiple algorithms, but between mining from  multi-pools and a single coin like Bitcoin.

New kid on the block here!
https://miner.farm is a hosted mining management solution.
Free accounts can monitor up to 6 devices using a direct port.
Paid subscriptions (Only $10!) allow you to use the client, a small bit of software that allows you to monitor AND CONTROL miners in your local network without opening exterior ports.

See the thread Ive started here on the mining subforum: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=935618.0

Thanks!

MultiMiner should work with all of them, I've personally tested them with Bitmain and Gridseed and have users with Spondoolies. You can change pools, restart, reboot, start / stop, monitor them remotely from your browser etc.

I find this to be the most confusing miner management interface out of them all. I would say it is the best looking, with the icons, fonts, text, views, but confusing as all heck. When I started the program up I was presented with entering in pool information. What's that for? I just want to add my rigs manually by IP address, name them what I want to name them and configure the view. I've been using M's Miner Monitor for a while now and it has come a long way.

I'm sorry to hear that. There's an entire help site (https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/wiki#welcome-to-multiminer-help) with a Getting Started (https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/wiki/Getting-Started) guide that details all the steps necessary to get things setup. In your case all you would need to do is click Cancel on the Getting Started Wizard (https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/wiki/Getting-Started#getting-started) and wait for MultiMiner to automatically display all the miners on your network. Maybe it's confusing because there are no additional steps? The link above (https://github.com/nwoolls/MultiMiner/wiki/Network-Devices#network-devices) details how to get Network Device monitoring setup - you just open the app.

If you have any constructive ideas for improving the documentation I'd welcome it.

I'm just not use to it and rushed through the setup. I need to give it another try and spend some time with it.
