Title: Bitcoin Trilogy
Post by: Phinnaeus Gage on July 06, 2012, 07:04:26 AM
Have you ever wanted to be part of something? Something big? Perhaps that's why you, like I, am part of this Bitcoin thingy. Each of us, in our own ways, continuously bringing something new to the table, no matter how miniscule or brainfartish an idea may seem (on the surface).

The other day, I started a thread about Bitcoin as a movie idea. A few days later, somebody at Reddit got the same ball of wax a rollin'. Today, now, I will one-up their/our/mine(?) idea.

Bitcoin is unique! Bitcoin is different! (damn! I'm starting to sound like Atlas) And if a movie(s) were to ever be produced about Bitcoin, it too must be unique. So unique, that the resulting buzz would resonate longer than most short-lived blockbusters (keep that word in mind, for I'm going somewhere with it/this).

The title of this thread is Bitcoin Trilogy. You've probably figured out where I'm going with this by now, but please continue reading, for I'm hoping to surprise you with a twist.

Every single movie produced in the past, then later came out with a Part II, III, etc., didn't go into producing the sequels until the studios were sure they had a "blockbuster" on their hands, knowing beforehand that the audience was primed for a sequel. That's the way it's always been done. But now, I believe, it's time to break that mold.

I present to you a new paradigm in releasing movies and their sequels, starting with the Bitcoin Trilogy. Three movies. Three different titles. Three completely different set of actors. Three different directors. Three different time frames of which the movies take place--pass, present and future, in that order. Three different film genres. And, if that wasn't enough to wrap your head around, all three released within a 31.41592... day period (close enough to a month or 30 days), thus no waiting for the sequel(s)--the story(s) still fresh in the viewer's minds.

The following should be their titles along with their suggested genres:

  • Genesis Block (Docudrama)
  • Block Chain (Comedy Drama)
  • Block Explorer (Adventure)

Primitive synopsis of each:

Genesis Block: A docudrama (taking a few/many liberties), follows in the footsteps of Satoshi Nakamoto, from his boyhood (might as well be his birth--in fact, that's now an important premise) all the way up to him publishing the Bitcoin Genesis Block. This is the only movie of the trilogy where we see, and get to know, Satoshi Nakamoto in person. Genesis Block could easily have the fictitious Satoshi Nakamoto narrating the movie during certain intervals. At the same time Satoshi secretly develops Bitcoin, shadowy figures start showing up in the movie.

Block Chain: A subtle comedic drama, set in the present day that starts exactly where Genesis Block ended. Just prior to Bitcoin taking off, Satoshi Nakamoto, who only communicates via encrypted emails in this film, leaves the nest he helped built, passing the baton to fellow coder, Gavin Andresen. Bruce and Atlas bring the comedy relief to this drama. The shadowy figures introduced in Genesis Block become more prominent in Block Chain.

Block Explorer: An adventure film, set in the not too distant future after Bitcoin has become an unstoppable force to be reckon with, starting to disrupt banking systems worldwide. We learn who the shadowy figures are as they start confronting the major players of the Bitcoin community. But their main goal is to hunt down and arrest Satoshi Nakamoto, but he's is always one step ahead of them, and the shadowy figures can't figure out--for the life of them--how. At one point, the shadowy figures claim that they have one of SN's family members and will kill her unless he turns himself in. SN's reply (we see being typed on the screen in large print), "So!" (or "Just do it!" or "That's nice!"), calling their bluff.

That's it for starters, enough to get, once again, the creative juices a flowin'

Fade In!

You should post it on project development forum and lunch a website where people would write the movie script and get crowd founding for making the movie(may be glbes ipo for the first anonymous bitcoin movie studio)
All the movie production process will be public open and free (donations will be accepted as well as direct investments through share purchase on glbes)

Make sure it is all in Japanese and then subtitled in Shakespearean English. This could start a whole new genre of art films that only the most elite artistes and auteurs would appreciate. Truly a masterpiece even before a word is written.

As long as there is full nudity I'm good with it.

Already on it!

Genesis Block: Satoshi Nakamoto's grandmother shower scene.
Block Chain: Maria--shower scene like in Psycho.
Block Explorer: Hillary Clinton shower scene.
