Title: A takeaway from an iGoogle news article.

"Can you sell advertisements in an intimate, private environment?" asks Mini. "Would you have a billboard in your living room? I don't think so." (http://www.informationweek.com/news/software/productivity_apps/240003296)

I read the above quote in the linked article and asked myself, "Why the hell not?" Of all the bright minds sitting around a multi-$K conference table espousing to 'think outside the box', you telling me that not a one of them thought of this?

The first thing you would do is to make it cool for having such an electronic billboard in you home. In fact, start by making it look like a conventional billboard, scaled down and even having a center pole looking thingy making it seem that's what's holding it up, although it's flush with the wall, affixed there.

Have it 100% programmable, only displaying billboard type ads you like or want others to see, secretly hoping that a certain product in the queue gets noticed, then purchased for you.

THIS IS NOT A TV or computer, but a hybrid that skims out the unneeded elements. It can be a radio, playing all your favorite tunes without a single commercial break or DJ, unless you want to play the part of the DJ.

Imagine a scrolling ticket tape of some stock market with a big enough ad in the upper corner.

Sound crazy? Not as crazy as watching all those loonies trying to fly like a bird over 100 years ago. Not as crazy as creating money out of thin air and calling a true currency and in the same breath calling any alternative, computer created currency fake money.
