Title: Certificate authority recommendations?
Post by: theymos on July 10, 2012, 09:33:04 PM
StartSSL's OCSP server has been down recently, which has been making the forum slow to load. I'm going to move the forum to a different CA. Any recommendations?

COMODO has had several security breaches. These security breaches don't affect COMODO customers any more than other HTTPS sites (due to the way CA authentication works), but I'm worried that COMODO will be removed from browsers at some point. I won't give any money to GoDaddy. So I was thinking of choosing Network Solutions, which seems to be the cheapest remaining option.

I just noticed that NameCheap offers RapidSSL certs for $11 per year, which seems even better.

Yeah as much as I like StartSSL usually, the OCSP issue has been reoccurring and annoying, especially since I strictly validate OCSP in my browser.
