Title: Best site to do mass day trading of BTC (low fees)?
Post by: gamingneeds on January 17, 2015, 07:35:15 AM
Hey guys,

I want to start trading BTC on a regular basic, possibly buying and then selling and then buying BTC dozens of times per day.

I'm looking for a good solid trading platform meant for this high volume of trading as I have a good amount of capital to trade.

What do you guys recommend and are there any other day traders in here?

Thanks for your suggestions!

Is BTC-e the best site for this?

Fees for BTC/USD trading on BTC-e seem to be decently low @ 0.2%.

Any tips on safe trading and keeping my money secure?
I was thinking of trading about $10,000.00 USD (or about 50 BTC right now) at a time.

Personally I don't trust BTC-e because owners are not transparent. Look into Bitstamp or Bitfinex. Fees are also tiered, so with $10k volume per day, you'll hit the cheapest fee tier pretty quickly.

Have a look at this thread, it's pretty comprehensive:

Keeping large amounts of funds on ANY bitcoin exchange is not safe. But for instant trading, there's just no other way. You have to sacrifice secure funds, or instant trading, but can't have both.

Enable all the security options that are allowed (2 factor authentication and email confirmation).

Beware of BTC-e. I still have a few hundred dollars stuck there (not much, but imagine if it was $10k....). I attempted to change my email address and now it will not let me withdraw. Contacted support over 50 times and just get an automated message. I can login and trade, but cannot withdraw. I chalked it up as a loss after many months.

I'm hoping to hit those 5 figures on an exchange here soon as well.

I have to say that the conduct of Bitstamp in the last few weeks has been wildly impressive on me.
