Cointellect is a ponzi, not a mining pool.

True, their payout are way too high than any other pools. They also ask people to install their own "miner" application.

what is a ponzi and is there a pool like a "ponzi"

From wikipedia
Quote
A Ponzi scheme is a fraudulent investment operation where the operator, an individual or organization, pays returns to its investors from new capital paid to the operators by new investors, rather than from profit earned by the operator. Operators of Ponzi schemes usually entice new investors by offering higher returns than other investments, in the form of short-term returns that are either abnormally high or unusually consistent.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme

It's a fraud. Cointellect is a NOT a mining pool.

It, also, has a virus attached to it. Beware of it!

The last sentence bothered me a lot. Asking people to install their software and showing them crazy rates is a scary thing to take part in.

I don't think it's a pool.

I wouldn't invest my time with them.

Especially by downloading their software.

I keep trying to write up a response but have to stop because I get the giggles. :(

Even mundane pools may be operating mechanically identically to a ponzi. Many have the coins in the pool op's full control, so theoretically, the pool op could be spending all the miners' coins on Just-Dice, and so long as there aren't enough people withdrawing at once, this could continue for a significant while.

You can also avoid installing it. People use also scrypt mining with them ===>>> https://cointellect.com/download/advanced/ (https://cointellect.com/download/advanced/)
Cloudmining 101 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=878387.0) rate it less likely to be a fraud than other cloudmining companies. Nevertheless, It is Always better to not put in more BTC than you're willing to lose.

After scanning the mining software with VirusTotal, deep antivirus malwares scan revealed 4 possibly malicious hacking viruses, including a Trojan horse:

  • Suspicious_GEN.F47V0819
    Hacktool.Win32.BitCoinMiner.bAM
    Artemis!830C7AE47D8D
    a variant of Win32/BitCoinMiner.AM

also including its SSL-certificate belonging to an undetermined user, as well as the excessive amount of backlinks for such a small mining company. Many of these links come from porn, privacy and gambling-related websites.

Yes , they are not mining dogecoin or litecoin .... @OP have you checked bter , and the other exchanges ? 2-3 buy of 25-50 mln of doge (and I'm sure cointellect are buying doge with the proceeds of the "mining contracts" |=| bitcoin).

To be fair, a good number of AV programs label all miners viruses because it's hard to tell whether or not the user actually authorized them to run. SSL cert isn't necessarily worrying unless the company's supposed to be operating within the law (well... I guess most people assume they should be).

I'm not going to write much about cointellect ...

IMHO - cointellect this is the usual pyramid ( ponzi ) , which forces people to buy their crappy contracts and for masking entertains himself and other pseudomining DogeCoin  ;)

A still-functioning ponzi right? It would be good to sell anything you have there and get out while you still can.

This one seems like a regular pool. They clearly using Pay Per Last N Shares (PPLNS) system, and doesn't have any suspicious requirement.
