Title: Liteco.in domain Post by: terrytibbs on July 13, 2012, 09:55:14 PM Post your bids in this thread. Bids are in USD but are to be paid in bitcoins at the Mt.Gox bid rate at the time of the auction ending. Bidding starts at $10 and is to be made in increments of at least $1. There will be no private bids.
The auction ends on July 28 2012 16:00 GMT+0000. The domain will be transferred no sooner than October 14 in order to give the current users time to migrate. Title: Re: Liteco.in domain Post by: RandomQ on July 13, 2012, 10:45:05 PM $10

Title: Re: Liteco.in domain Post by: someguy123 on July 14, 2012, 10:46:59 AM It would be great if people would mention what they would do with the domain if they get it. Yeah, I'm wondering this too, not sure what others would do with it, I'm the current "maintainer" of liteco.in, so I'd hate to see the domain get neglected if it goes into the wrong hands.Title: Re: Liteco.in domain Post by: Luceo on July 14, 2012, 02:33:01 PM If I win the domain, my intention is to do the following, as discussed on IRC with Someguy123:
- I will hold the domain on my registrar account, and leave the current DNS's active. - Someguy123 will pay my USD cost for the domain + transfer to me + transfer to him, in LTC or BTC (i.e. if BTC rises in value, he will pay less BTC than I did, if BTC decreases in value, he will pay more). - After this, I will transfer the domain to him. Ergo, my intention is to change nothing re: the function of liteco.in. I intend merely to hold it in trust for the person who is currently operating it effectively, but cannot afford to bid on it at the moment. Title: Re: Liteco.in domain Post by: Luceo on July 14, 2012, 02:41:05 PM Terry, please implement a no-snipe rule so someone doesn't just bid at 15:59.55 or something and win a still open auction.
Say, an extension of 20 mins after the last bid? I'll post a hashed string containing the number in advance. It should prevent auction sniping, while not allowing the auction to continue indefinitely.
If most current bidders agree, I'll implement this, and allow any other bidders to withdraw from the auction. How does this sound? Title: Re: Liteco.in domain Post by: smoothie on July 15, 2012, 11:39:17 PM $31

And people likely won't have time to respond before the auction is over. I think extending the auction by 5 mins after every bid seems like the right solution. But obviously, you can do it however you like. Title: Re: Liteco.in domain Post by: terrytibbs on July 16, 2012, 05:36:10 PM I actually don't think this will change much. But the range needs to be much larger than 2 minutes. I'd recommend at least an hour. Have the auction end anytime between July 28 2012 16:00 GMT+0000 and July 28 2012 17:00 GMT+0000. I would like to use this domain for promotional purposes. I would be quite willing to sub-let subdomains if people were interested in them. Why would you encourage people not to push up the price in your own auction? I plan to use the domain to promote LiteCoins. I myself hold LTC in the 6 digit range and am adding. I will use the site to host the now being developed LiteCoin stock exchange and a BTC/LTC exchange. I will also be hosting a Litecoin forum and will be open to hosting other related LTC sites. I'm happy to keep the block explore running here as well. I'm more than happy to work with members in the LTC community who have a large state and want to see it develop. Thanks.
