Sad to hear that, do not want to cause death. The reason of the price is because you get the script unencrypted and therefore I have no way of making sure you do not resell it.

Also you get 15 years of PHP development experience put into the script.

I can arrange an encrypted version of the script with http://www.ioncube.com/ for only $350

hi. Kris

1. if i build a 100G---500G pool or 500--1000G pool what about server require?

2.the script looks like simple , does the price include script update?

Title: Re: bitcoin mining pool script for sale
Post by: Kris on May 23, 2011, 07:59:49 PM
1. The script doesn't take much, if you want to build a big pool you need to check out the requirements for bitcoind and pushpool.

2. Yes the price includes script updates, if I find security bugs etc.

I could rehire some Russian from oDesk for less than half the price to make a similar script. lol

Do you have any sort of demo or even performance statistics? I might consider buying pool software from Tycho or Slush but I see no reason to pay that much for an unproven pool system. What advantages does it offer over PushPool (http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=3493.0 (http://forum.bitcoin.org/?topic=3493.0)), a free and open source pool system?

Well pushpool is used as a proxy for bidcoind. It has no frontend.

So what should I set the price at for the non encrypted version and encrypted? Give me suggestions.

Thanks

Kris

It has a web front-end.

Thanks for releasing this Kris, though I think you could get a lot more sales/interest at a lower price (suggesting $99 or $199)!  I agree that it sucks that people can/will distribute and steal your code, but if you do find someone doing so, you could always sue them for copyright infringement.  :P

I'm just glad that there is finally an option for people who don't know how to program their own pool.  Even the open source pool software didn't have a web front-end, which is pretty much a requirement for anyone who wants to run a pool that will have more than a handful of users.

Tempting...

Encrypted basically means un-editable, right?  I guess my question is, if you have the option to encrypt it, why sell a de-encrypted version at all?  What benefit does the unencrypted version give to the buyer?

Yes encrypted means un-editable. You can only edit the templates files, stylesheet etc.

Because some people don't trust encrypted code, and they want to be able to change things themselves.

Cool, thanks.  Some companies/developers have stipulations that the buyer cannot edit the code, even if it is in plaintext, to avoid support issues.  It's good you are supporting it if people want to pay the extra though.

maybe they want to know what things actually do.

pool-users need to trust pool-admins.
how could you trust someone, who doesn't even know what his scripts do?

The idea of gbyte.dk was to have a place where I could see starts from my miners. But then I though hey wouldnt it be cool to have it work as a real pool, so I went the extra mile and programmed all in.

So buyers of this script will mainly be people who solo mine with a few friends, as least I think that's the clientel.

Kind regards
Kris

no offense, but the price for this is way too high. You might want to lower your prices, or else you're gonna get little to no sales. Even worse, someone is probably going to come along, and make a open source version that is better than yours, and you're gonna be out of business.

Don't believe me? This is exactly what happened with hdminer.

Hey, don't knock him for trying to make a buck!

I think for someone looking to start up a public and reliable pool, $199 is a relatively small amount to pay.  I think a good anti-DDOS server costs in the neighborhood of $1000-$1500 monthly.  $199, or even $99, opens it up to even the average enthusiast who might think "hey, I'd like to start up my own pool and see what happens."  The big issue is in the code being untested in a large pool.  I would encourage Kris to start his own pool based off of this code set to prove the concept out and show everyone that it does, in fact, work.

Sure, he could go lower than that, but at that point, you would have too many people buying, and he would lose his source code to piraters/copyright infringers.  With only a handful of buyers, it is less likely to get out "into the wild".

Thanks for the advice guys.

If anyone is interested I am now selling the unencrypted version of the script for only $199 in regards to your advice, just remember where you got it and tell your friends.

It is probably going to get copied in 2 seconds and sold for $29.99 with backdoors in it etc...

Hey great work Kris!

I sure hope you get some buyers.. I thought of an idea you could work at.. making a very very basic model that you open up. Then make a sort of plug and play system that you sell.
For example different type of stats or miners or total pool stats of graphs and stuff like that. All in different plug and play packages that you buy for some $$$..

Then incorporate the poker game (https://betco.in/) in to the pool system as example one type of plug and play.. then other games could be put in as well. Letting you take a piece of the cake at the same time.

also making the free open source version take a % from any minded pool as fee.. if the person is savvy enough they can edit it on there own. But if not then you get a extra bitbuck or two ;P

allowing some sort of api of the making of plugins others could also share and sell other own versions for bitcoins to you or others..

See it as a very customizable pool system. Almost being at a candy store and picking out what you like and want.

Cheers PG!

Graph's over what?

Such as a graph that displays the pool's total hashrate and/or the number of workers over a given timeframe (both could be on one graph)...24-48 hours, week, month, etc.

Kris, you are doing great job.

I'm really considering buying your pool script...

However I'm waiting for a few more important features to be implemented:

- More detailed solved blocks statistics such as the one here for example: http://www.btcguild.com/blocks.php
- Stats for the average bock size and current difficulty information such as the ones available here: https://deepbit.net/stats
- Having an option for direct donations from members of the pool would be nice, like a percentage of the earnings of each block for example set by the user, this may be a good alternative to having fixed fee for the pool.
- Adding Pay Per Share option and not only offering Proportional mode is good to have as an option.

I'm interested in the script also and I think "Adding Pay Per Share option" is also important.

Besides that, I saw your web site it not very professional, e.g., after signed in, the "singup" link is still display in top right. I'm wondering whether your script is including this web site interface?

If you wish to purchase the pool script, the time is now. I have optimize everything I can, and its running real smooth.

Also I added more statistics as you can see at gbyte.dk/statistics (http://gbyte.dk/statistics)

The software has been send out to all that purchased, and also I was nice and send the new optimized version to people without support.

In the stats I don't see the size of the solved blocks so far, it will be good to have the number of shares as well as the time it has taken for the pool to solve these blocks...

Added.

Also I converted the shares table timestamp to unix timestamp. Made it one second quicker for every select statement in the shares table with total shares of over one million.

Anyone else had trouble making the script work, I've had some issues with it, and although I've managed to resolve most of them the last thing remaining that I'm still having trouble with is the statistics for the blocks. When I start a worker it gets shares and solves them, but I still get 0 for the stats for the current block (stats for the submitted shares is also Ok). Other things like the pool's speed etc are working fine. Am I missing something here, or there is something with the script?

I'm using a dedicated server with Ubuntu 11.04 Server 64-bit OS and everything is installed and compiled correctly, all the requirements for bitcoind, pushpoold and this script are met and still the block stats does not get updated and the script does not run as it should.

I'm currently preparing a second server with completely new installation to test it on in order to confirm it is not something outside of the pool script...

You can now purchase my pool script encrypted with ionCube for the low price of only $49.95, A perfect deal if you are just getting into bitcoin and want to solo mine and keep track of your miners. Or if you want to be a pool operator and have the best script on the market.

Encrypted with ionCube means that you will not be able to alter any PHP code and the script will run as is. You can however change the template files, along with css stylesheet and languages.

If you have any questions or other inquiries, you can write them here or use my Support Center (http://support.maxivote.com)

Questions:

1. How big of a pool has this been tested on? I want to know its scalability.
2. Can this be modified to mine namecoins? If so, do I need you to custom build it?
3. Maybe I read this wrong but this comes with a front-end too?

Hi smoothie,

1. Up to 300 Ghash/s
2. I'm sure it can, don't know much about namecoins though, but I'm sure we can figure something out if you need me to modify it for namecoin.
3. This is a front-end, with everything included, SQL scheme compatible with pushpoold, a small design easily modified by template files and so on.
4. If you purchase With Support, I setup everything for you if you want, this includes bitcoind, pushpoold, apache or nginx, php 5.3+, mysql server, make the SQL scheme and install the script with rewrite rules.

Also it features support for BitmonMe (http://bitmon.me) a monitoring service for your miners and pool API's and support for WalletBit (https://walletbit.com) a flexible, digital wallet for your bitcoins.

Title: Re: bitcoin mining pool script for sale

So i have purchased the $399 product and most of my fear was my lack of Linux experiance.  It turns out my fear was quite justified.

So first thing I did was try to log in the user name was not forth coming but reading through it the readme I found it to be:
bitcoinpool

The password was long and hard so you need to change it so I searched for that command and its...

Code:
passwd

My next issue was how do I change my wallet.dat file need to find it located in
~/.bitcoin/wallet.dat

No problem right I will start searching through folders one by one...
Ops!

The slash KEY does not work neither does the backslash key!  Euro keyboard settings!  So I do some searching on the web so one says use the command:

Code:
setxkbmap us

but I get

The program 'setxkbmap' is currently not installed!

So I installed it (the instructions where there I just forgot what they where sorry)

Then I ran setxkbmap us again and got...

Code:
Cannot open display "default display"

Now I am googling this issue and there is a HUGE list of possibles and solutions.

The one of point of this post is...

WINDOWS DEVELOPERS OR USERS RUN! :o

Also any help on fixing this would be appreciated.

The blow by blow is to show other windows users/developers what they must endure and how much help they will receive or have the ability to look stuff up.  The learning curve for linux should have a rate of return or forget it.

My objective is to convert this bitcoin pool script into a namecoin pool and allow people to observe my progress.  HERE

So I tried one of the many solutions like calling

loadkeys us

That produced an error with a lot of text but the end result was operation not permitted.

This made me think that like in windows 7 or Vista I'm not the Administrator user even though I am the Admin.  LOL  :D
Thus there has to be a way to run this command with elevated privileges!  I remember seeing it before when I installed the keyboard package.

Searching the web helped me find it and it's  sudo stands for "Super User Do"

So run...
Code:
sudo loadkeys US
That worked perfectly!

Yeah Keyboard works properly now back to original task finding the wallet.dat file!  See my next post!

Hey there, here are some random thoughts and questions that would be nice to have answered...

Is there a command to output the screen to file like in windows...

dir > myfolder.txt

I would like to do this to keep and post the errors I find along the way.

Then my next question is how to copy it from my linux box to my windows box?  :)

My next question is why is this OS 3 gigs with no GUI?  LOL you would think a command line OS that loads in 2 seconds would be 1 gig if that.  LOL

I feel useless in linux can't do anything heck don't even know how to copy a file.  In windows it would copy myfolder.txt \\server\share
unlikely it will be that easy.

FYI A linux guru bitched at me for creating a free windows package using HyperV, a free windows OS I converted for mining! There is no way I would be up to 10 GHashs using linux.

The ability to look stuff up / self-help is essential to any development endeavor.  If someone has trouble doing that, they aren't really a developer, just an average user.

It's my understanding that with the merged mining, there should be no changes required.

There are many ways to do this.  It depends on your setup.

You are using a large distro.  You can install a basic CLI linux OS in under 400MB.  If you really want to strip things down, you can fit it on a floppy disk.

cp myfolder.txt /where/you/want/to/copy/it

No way?  You'd likely have a better hashrate than in Windows with a properly setup Linux miner.

Hey man thanks for all your help the information you provided is very helpful.
[Sent you 0.1875 bitcoins to your address]

Glad all the things I know about dos are the same in Linux.   :-[ Little embarrassed that I did not try the same thing I do in DOS.

Man, I thought edlin was bad but vi, OH MY GOD!  I am not sure how to get to the colon ":" command prompt I pressed ran it pressed q then the command prompt showed up I thought it was escape?  My guess is if I am in edit mode (don't know how to do that yet) then hit escape then q I will get to the colon ":" command prompt?

Anyhow...

The distro I have was purchased from the vendor on of this topic he should answer the question of why this VM is so large.

Key word "properly setup miner" its easier to do when you know your OS.  Besides I have seen more crazy Hash rates from people using windows than linux.

Thought so, but I am sure I can look it up it's a common task that if I cared enough about linux I would have developed a simplified solution like I don't know...

WinCopy source \\dest_server\dest_share\dest_folder -user:username -pass:password

But thats me be being crazy thinking someone would want make it easy so that people can make the switch from windows. :)

Well I am off to learn...
1.  VI
2.  How to access a windows share
3.  Find my wallet.dat file

Any help in those endeavours will be appreciated.

DavinciJ, I feel your pain.  I've had to learn linux on a VPS, and it's been a HUGE undertaking so far.  At least I am comfortable doing the basics at this point now though.  I still have a long ways to go before I could be considered even a user of linux though.

Also, I'd recommend pico for editing files.  I find it a lot more user-friendly than VI or VIM.  The downside is, it doesn't have a search feature, so if you're editing a large config file, it can sometimes take a while to find the line you are looking for.

You and me are shining examples of why people avoid linux like the plague up until we absolutely had no choice.  If linux is the best the open source community can do for a UI we can expect the same kind of success for bitcoins if people like me and you don't do something about it.

I have paid $400 for this script and I have to get it to work first so I can make more bitcoins to spend on improving bitcoins usability.  Man if my overhead wasn't so high I would quit my job and work on this full time I have already quit my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/davincij15 (http://www.youtube.com/user/davincij15) talking about gold and silver and I WAS wishing I could develop a monetary software product that would end the banksters!

Bitcoin is it and I am glad to be a part of bitcoin developer community.

I am trying to setup your site script here http://66.154.118.241 (http://66.154.118.241) All I receive is this blank page, no error messages. I am not sure whats wrong? I have setup ioncube loader, mysql and the schema, php 5.3, apache2, curl, I am using poolserverj instead of pushpoold. I have edited config.php with the correct settings. the /tmp folder has write permissions. Is there any way to get debug info? Thanks.

EDIT: nevermind figured it out. Was a pain though without error messages.
