Title: any interest in silver stocks? - 1 oz shares or smaller
Post by: ccliu on July 14, 2012, 05:39:09 AM
would anyone be interested in buying silver shares that are worth 1 oz? Randomq is selling shares worth a gram, but the premiums associated with 1 gram purchases are very large. I can offer 1 oz shares, or even smaller, such as 1/4 oz. However the silver that I own is all in 1 oz rounds.

There are already a few ongoing and a few in planning stage so the idea has merit. One thing I would fear pegging things at 1oz your share cost is going to be one of the highest on GLBSE.  Your share value is going to be greater affected by changes in BTC price and silver price which could be discouraging to some investors but it could also be attractive to others.

Provide a few more details on your planned model, I started writing a question list but it was just so large it isn't worth asking.

I plan to have Silver ready (mine) to sell. I will only sell as many shares as I have silver in my pocket. This way I cannot end up owing more than I hold. Buyer will pay shipping to anywhere in the world, tracking optional but recommended.

Silver price will always fluctuate, but when it is low and people purchase it would be a good deal to sell it or withdraw and make some profit, without the fees that bullion dealers take when purchasing silver.

How about 1/4oz shares but a minimum of 4 shares to convert out to physical silver.  That way you can stick with 1oz coins but the individual cost per share will be a bit less.

Since you state you've already have the coins, mind if I ask what they are?

I have 2 maples, 5 buffalo rounds, 1 sunshine mint and 1 first majestic.

I suppose I can give the stock holder the choice of what they want when they withdraw.
