Title: Having issues with my Radeon 5850
Post by: declensions on July 20, 2012, 05:31:53 PM
Hey guys, I'm totally new to this.

I'm wanted to try this for fun and installed GUI miner. However, I found that my radeon 5850 only produces 150 mhash/s or less. Any idea how to fix this?
Any useful guides for a first-timer?

Running ati sdk stream v2.7
catalyst vers 12.6

computer specs:

i2600k
16gb ram
win 7 64 bit
ati radeon 5850
650w xfx psu

Have you added "-v -w128" to the flags?
are you using OpenCL miner?

It sounds like you haven't added the flags as Rlx160 pointed out.  You can also use the "-f#" (ex: -f1) to indicate how much GPU power will be used.  The default is 30.

sweet, 280 mhash now. xD yea adding the flag worked. thanks!

btw, removing the flag doesn't do anything after adding it, how does this work? Do I have to press enter everytime i type something in the gui?

is radeon 5830/5850 still the best bang for the buck?

You have to stop the miner and start it again if you type a new flag.

Downclock the GPU memory to 300 or less

Popular mining cards :

Look at MH/$ and MH/J. The higher, the better.

Also you may want to OC and OV to obtain that hashrate, I'm currently running at 935MHz core and 305MHz memory, 1.175Vcore, temps 70ºC. Sapphire Extreme HD5850.
