The organizer has given an explanation to us...

It's not a matter of making a joke, just a comment on how strange conspiracy theories are.

I thought it would be cool to get a group together and have some fun in the sun.  That's it, nothing more.

The origin of the idea was in Toronto, Nic Cary and I were talking and it was a great event but rather busy and loud...one of us, I think Nic, said "This is a great event, would be cool if we had an event with more time to just hang out with the speakers."   I said, "Great idea, I could organize that."  We walked over to Dave Carlson who was 10 feet away, he said he was in and then I emailed Roger Ver and he said he was in.  Once we had the 4 of us I knew it would work so I chose a location and invited 50 more people or so.

That's it.  It was never, ever contemplated that it would be a conspiracy of any sort.  Just a fun chance to hang out and talk geek stuff.

The only reason for the exclusivity is due to space retraints.

If they are with bitcoins , they certainly won't do it
PUMP/DUMP is not good for a coin , you must know that
Many people might loose their faith and money through it !

Sorry to see another fiat economy transplant being pasted onto the BTC economy. I am sure they will do to the BTC economy what Bilderberg has done to fiat.

It's not easy pumping Bitcoin
Though yes people do it! But even as you said , if they discuss it and start a pump , most people who don't know about it will get loss
Might be us too

I don't think so.  It seems the company has nothin to do with bitcoin, but its the CEO Raj Mehta, who was also an early adopter.
So the company name is there just as a designation.

Doesn't matter.
First import, then improvise.  :)

I wonder why they did not include Jed McCaleb, one of the most prominent faces in the crypto world. Also, the presence of MK & Josh Garza would have make the meet spicey ;)

A pump and dump likely. Easy money when there are a lot of whales collaborating.

Jed McCaleb is discredited - prize douchebag and borderline scamster
Ripple was a great project to which he caused irreparable damage

I thought it was going to be streamed for the rest of the bitcoin population. Did that ever happen ?
