Title: Looking to start a pool, where should I start?
Post by: darbsllim on May 23, 2011, 10:37:08 AM
Hey there, I'm looking to start my own pool, and I'm wondering where should I start with this adventure. I have money to spend.

I just spent the last 8 hours reading the forum, so my brain's a little mushy...input is appreciated!

First of all, you need some pretty sweet hardware, CPU, RAM and Bandwidth wise (not exactly hardware but still), if I was going to start one I would probably have an i7, 8 gigs of ram, and a fast internet. Then download pushpool and set it up with a backend bitcoind, then portforward (if need be) and start advertisiing :)

If this helps please donate ;)

I want this pool to be very secure and DDOS protected. I'd like a pro setup so that we have no downtime or worry about hacking.

Is there someone out there who builds the pool software and architecture for the other major pools who could help us out?

We've got a decent budget for the development and hosting for this project, we plan on spending money on marketing and advertising as well. We're hoping to find a technical lead who will be able to manage the technical issues as a partner in the project, but if that person needs money instead we could work a deal like that out.
