Do we assemble our own coins? That would affect the resale value. How do we know that any particular coin actually has a private key, or that the original owner no longer has a copy of the private key?

If you want to resell them, either include a hologram so that the buyer can generate a new private key or just don't assemble the coin. Trust is always an issue with physical Bitcoins. How do I know that Max (creator of the Kialara) doesn't have a copy of the private key in my Kialara? I don't. I just trust Max to not fuck me. With DIY coins you can always generate your own keys if you don't trust the manufacturer.

Exactly! It's is full trust between both parties. You can always print your own keys for max security.

But we can assemble the coins for an extra fee and we can provide buyer with a list of coin number/address pairs too.

I trust bhCoins somewhat, but with DIY coins I also need to trust all the previous owners.

Why? You can remove the existing hologram, generate a new address and use that for your coin. Just slap a new hologram on it and you are done.

Why is shipping so expensive?

It appears they are being sent via USPS Registered mail.

It can get pricey. I charge $30 for US shipments as I insure it for the value paid also.

In that case, a DIY physical bitcoin is just a holder for a paper wallet. You don't really need the hologram -- any tape will do. I know that is sufficient for many people, but I was hoping for more. That's all.

You can pay less for shipping if you make a group buy  :D

These look great, I just ordered a couple of the shinier ones. I was very happy with bhCoin's series 1 and 2.

I want 4, all types, mirror golden, antique golden, mirror silver and antique silver, the first numbers that are still available. Maybe a stupid question, but where can I find pictures of the coins? Can you let me know how to order and what the costs are?

They did, but somewhere along the line decided to use a new account just for this purpose. I bought their bhCoins Serie 3 from this account and all went well.

So escrow is not possible? If not, I do want you to give me positive trust after the deal :) I pm'd you with questions, which numbers do I get?

No for this time. Of course. Numbers are picked randomly from #500 and upper as we used same hologram as previous series.

Is the hologram a sticker or a scratch off label?
Could the private keys be replaced afterwards?

This holograms are tamper evident. If you remove it , it will leave glue and aluminum residue.
Yes you can replace the PK with another printed by you o just use the extra keys and holograms we provide.

Well, I just received my package of bhCoins V4. and I like them, but V3. was a better in my opinion. I really miss the certificate of authenticity that was included in that version. This version has a nice envelop, but what's inside is very plain. It's just a piece of paper with two QR codes, the addresses and the private keys.

EDIT: I just checked and the addresses on the piece of paper matches none of my four coins. Why?

Not necessarily, they're DIY coins and come with extra holograms, correct? So you could generate and place new addresses, or just sell them with the extra holos for the buyer to do that.

First buyers received an envelope with two bitcoin address/private keys different from the assembled coins.

I ordered four coins and have four envelopes accordingly. Are all of them filled with Bitcoin address that aren't related to my coins? And if so, why? What's the point?

We sent private keys this way until we can release a template label that you can print on it yourself..

So, they are backup addresses, correct? Sorry for asking so many questions.

they aren't copies of coin private key if you mean backup. You can use them with another hologram when you peel off the actual hologram.

Wait, so ordering 10+ coins is paid per coin or as a package?

if you order 10+ you pay 0.03 per coin
if you order 25+ you pay 0.025 per coin

Is there a site or a post that explains how the coin works after you receive it?

I got my coins today, thanks and I really dig them. Bhcoins definitely has a cool & unique style of making coins. I like them all but I think my favorite style of the 4 is the antique silver. I got lucky and caught a deal, but even at full price they are def. worth it and still one of the cheapest physical Bitcoins out there. They are a great value for the price for someone to start collecting physical BTC. Looking forward to a Series 5.


It is similar to a Casascius physical Bitcoin, where a tamper-evident hologram covers a small printed private key to a BTC wallet. You can store funds on it and keep it intact forever or you can peel the hologram and spend the funds. Bhcoins has already printed and placed a private key within each coin, but it is a DIY coin and comes with extra holos if you want to generate one of your own addresses or peel & spend it a few times.

OP has offered for me to purchase a discounted "Set" of the coins through their store on OpenBazaar but I am not familiar with it and feel it is overkill since I don't utilize OB as of now.

Has anyone here conducted their transaction through there, is OpenBazaar trustworthy, and isn't OpenBazaar still in beta/possibly buggy?  

Sorry to be bumping this up but I've only just opened up my package as I've been away for a while.
I received the 4 coins I ordered together with the 4 envelopes containing the other keys for assembly.
The coins look nice and shiny but aren't perfect. They've all got some marks/scuffs on that takes away from the overall appearance. The holograms are nice and simple but are quite small. I can't imagine what is must have been like putting them on...
I was also wondering what capsules you use. The coins feel like they want to burst out the capsules at any minute...
Anyway, overall very nice coins. Thank you :)

Have a free bump with this question: Is there anyone willing to part with their bhCoins v1 and v2 coins? I have v3 and v4, but I need the previous two to complete my collection!

Funny that you mention the capsules...AT101ET...one of my coins was loose when I received them.

We have reserved the first 10 coins of each series for future auctions. But in the meantime we will publish them in our website (in development) with a premium buy now price..

If you had some problem with the package shipped please let me now so we can work it out.

The coin was loose in the mailing package, but I had put it in a new capsule anyway a while back.  No worries.
