Title: Best Hardware to buy right now?
Post by: charles99 on February 14, 2015, 09:27:05 AM
Hi,

I'm looking to find some Miners that can Mount on a Server rack.  I don't like the Neptunes and the S20s because they require so many pieces and make my place look like a mess.  I want something that will mount nicely on a server and is reliable.

Can someone recommend a few miners that would do this?

Thanks,
Charles

Spondoolies-Tech make 2U rackmount units that do 4.5-5.5TH you can check the thread on the forum here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.0

The SP31 is currently in stock which is their most power efficient unit. There is a higher speed SP35 but its just gone out of stock.

The SP3x range are fully integrated with built in server grade PSU's

Bitmain did make the S4 as well which is a 3U 2TH unit, but they are out of stock so getting one second hand might be an option

Otherwise there were 1.6TH Cointerra 4U units but they are no longer in business, but you might be able to pick them up second hand, but their power efficiency is low and their TH/U rating is much lower.

IMO its hands-down the SP31. The Sp35 ran at extreme speeds where it fought to squeeze the last 200-300GH at a cost of about 1GH/w.

the Sp31 is a better balance, and can operate at about 3600GH/1900W (wall) in efficiency mode or ramp to about 4750GH/3000W (wall). The volume at <4000GH is reasonable for use in a smaller building, but oing past 4000GH gets noisy enough that a shed or datacenter is suggested

Check out the used market - new the SP31 is $2075, but used you can get them for $1700-1850  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=951608.0

I still prefer the SP35, even if you run it at SP31 speeds. Those improved PSUs pay for the increased costs themselves.

Yes, but the SP35 requires a 220-240 V input, right? Whereas you can get away with 110-120 with the SP31, no?
I ask because I'm not going to be able to use 220 for a while... thus, it makes a difference for me, and I'm pretty sure other folks considering this investment.

I want the 35 but it's not available. Any other reliable vendor?
