I have been running a SATA 16 pin to PCI-e 6 pin for a while and i noticed that the cables near the adpater are getting very hot. So this is just a little warning to any one that are thinking of using this type of adapter for your miners. The SATA connector only provides 9 Amp compared to 11 Amp from the molex or PCI-e connector. That one will support the high wattage. Never use the SATA connector even that is risky. if your PSU doesnt have enough PCIe connectors it probably isnt well-suited to bitcoin mining. almost any molex-pcie or even eps-pcie adapter is made with 18awg or thinner wires, and not suitable for the loads required by modern bitcoin mining hardware. they are designed for running low-end GPUs on systems that didnt even have a PCIe connection. ie: they are built for <100W but bitcoin mining typically draws >150W Title: Re: SATA power adapter to PCI-e x 6 Post by: goxed on March 01, 2015, 09:59:06 PM Hi, I have been running a SATA 16 pin to PCI-e 6 pin for a while and i noticed that the cables near the adpater are getting very hot. You don't need google for that information. It's was obvious from the color, there is only 1 yellow wire there.
