Title: Bruteforcing an encrypted wallet
Post by: x0Jakeyboy0x on August 02, 2012, 06:04:12 PM
Unfortunately, I encrypted my wallet and forgot my password. I wrote it down and threw out the paper i had it on. There happens to be 5 BTC in it and i don't exactly want to walk away from it yet. I vaguely remember the password and have a good idea of what it is. However I am curious as to if there is a way to bruteforce my wallet so i don't have to try to manually type all these passwords in.

Any help is much appreciated.

Yes, I have a brute forcing script.  It takes your best guess at a key and then cracks one mistaken character within an hour, or two mistakes within a few weeks.
