Title: [Dig free CLAMS] How to mine Clamcoin. Proof of Stake based on Proof of Work.

Proof of Stake based on Proof of Work

One of the most asked question I've had lately since Just-dice reopened with Clamcoin is "How can I mine Clamcoin?"  Well you can't... you have to dig them!

CLAM was Proof of Work when it was first made.  The developers then gave every Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin address 4.6 CLAMS and burnt the left over.

Right now you have serveral options as far as digging your CLAMS.

If you do have CLAM be sure to empty off the other coins and never use that address again once you dig CLAMS (better safe than sorry.)

Now you have two options here:

EASIEST:

1. https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/dig/ (manual)
2. https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/dig_wallet/ (automated digging)
2. Check any address for free in order to see if it has Clamcoins.
3. Follow the digging options for your payment in Bitcoin directly or Clamcoin.

HARDEST:

1. www.ClamCoin.org
2. Download CLAM wallet.
3. Download the boostrap (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.msg9772191#msg9772191) for the wallet that Dooglus has created.
4. Click magic button in the CLAM wallet and it sniffs out your CLAMS for you.  This finds switch address and all that in between!

Once you have the CLAM you can stake them against the network in order to mine.  The coins have to be online and it is easy to do on your own from your own wallet.

There are several pool websites that allow you to have a wallet instantly + stake coins.

STAKING POOLS:

www.Just-Dice.com (most trusted)
www.bustaclam.com

I think
Proof of Stake based on Proof of Work

HARDEST:

Hardest seems easier for me, s much easier to clam for jd than downloading the wallet and the chain.

True, but you could miss "change addresses" that you didn't even know you had!

The CLAM client covers these for you.

You can get to them manually, but it is a pain in the ass from what I hear :P

The distribution and the testing of PoS is what got me as well.

Much more eco friendly.

Just cruising around.

Lots of people still don't know about their Clamcoins and haven't dug them yet.

We've recently launched our wallet digging feature! It works a lot like regular digging, but instead of giving us your address, you upload your BTC, LTC, or DOGE wallet and we scan it for eligible keys. If we find any, we dig them for you. After we dig all your eligible keys - or find out that you have none - we delete your wallet file from our server. You can view the progress of this entire process on your wallet's page, which you'll see after uploading your wallet. Check it out at https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/dig_wallet/. Or look at the wallets that users have uploaded here: https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/wallets/.

Has anyone figured out how to claim coins from mobile wallets. The doge, litecoin and bitcoin wallets i have will only export an encrypted backup that's not compatible with any desktop wallet and now access to view the the private keys.

Try exporting your addresses to your computer if possible.

https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/dig_wallet/ (automated digging) I uploaded my wallet on this site. However it says "wallet has been uploaded"and in the step it says we have not begun scanning wallet for eligable keys. How long does it take to start scanning and digging?

It's pretty quick.  There shouldn't be much delay.

Not sure bud.

There has to be a way if you own the private key.

I just got a way to convert my bitcoinj backup walled to a .key format but is it possible to import to my wallet (clam) in .dat format anyway?

Yes all you need is the .dat I believe... I really am not 100% sure because I don't handle the technical stuff.

I know my service only requires a .dat to be uploaded and then our wizard code takes over and digs.  https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/dig_wallet/

If our service can do it... the Clamcoin wallet can as well.  I don't know if it requires further wizarding or if it is as simple as what FreeBitcoins makes it.

You should absolutely make sure that the coins are moved from the address before claiming any type of additional value off your Bitcoin address... CLAM, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold or anything else.

If your address has zero coins then it can be relatively trustless... you should never trust that address again, but save it none the less... just in case you accidentally send coins there or what not.

Hi Bay Area,

I have an address which can be dug by your service but I don't know the private key. I was given a mnemonic with it and that's all I have but I have no clue what to do with the mnemonic. Is there any way to get a private key or find it? I only have like $0.80 worth of Bitcoin on it but I want to dig for the clams or BCC and transfer the bitcoin to my online account. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
