Title: 6990's, Best flags with Poclbm/Guiminer?
Post by: Fiyasko on May 25, 2011, 04:23:01 AM
So i've got two MSI 6990's and thier pulling 320mhashes per core,
-v -w128 -f0
win7 32bit
I was hoping to get 350 each.... seeing ashow people with 6970's are hitting that high...

try without vectorization use["-v" part] and play with working set from 64 to 256
majority reported that -w256 better for 69x0's - on phoenix they reach about 400MH/s with OC.

flipping around with -v/on/off and -w's of 64-128-256 all showed simmilar results, Some, a little faster, but more unsteady, some slower, but wouldnt budge

try lower GPU saturation a bit, then to help GPU/drivers breathe a bit.
set "-f10' or something like.

First long while had them running at -f2 to "break them in" then pushed them to f0 aside from GPU0 wich has -f1

My 6990 is -v -w 256, 350mh/s each core.
Yeah thats what im gettin@best when overvolting etc, Wich i cant do because at stock clocks it's hot as hell, Yes i can cool it more, But i dont want to overvolt the thing. Im at the point of selling my 6990 for 4 5830's and some btc's

You do realize, and this is why i always recommend 6970's in pairs or trips, that a 6990 doesn't run the cores at full 6970 speeds.. so in essence you get something closer to crossfired 6950s... cause you're getting per core what i get on my 6950. and my 2 6950's cost me under $600...

However, if you need the density... then running dual 6990's in a mobo with only 2 PCIE slots is better.. but then heat, power, etc concerns come to rear their heads...

Either way, long story short. You'll have to OC the 6990 to get on par with 2 stock 6970s

GUIMiner with phoenix, kernel phatk i'm getting stable ~333,3 Mhashs/s per miner with stock gpu @ 830 Mhz and memory @ 730 Mhz.

GUIMiner with phoenix and kernel poclbm i'm getting stable ~340,8 Mhashs/s per miner with stock gpu @ 830 Mhz and memory @ 730 Mhz.

My current setting for each miner:
phoenix.exe -k poclbm AGGRESSION=12 BFI_INT WORKSIZE=128

Maybe you can tweak a little bit, but i think that's the maximum i get out of my 2 Gigabyte ATI 6990's ~1363,2 Mhashs/s.
