Title: HOW much is electricity cost in your country?
Post by: PRCman on May 25, 2011, 03:19:27 PM
down here is about 0.1 USD per 1kwh
mean well a rig with 3 video cards need 700W,
calculates a block in 12 days will need 20USD, then got 50BTS, could be sell for around 300USD?

great deal!

Well it seems like electricity is cheap in China.

This ( "get rich quick" ) is not as simple as it sounds by the way.

usually in PR.China electricity cost about 0.1 USD (based on currency rate may a little different)
but electricity gard company will charge 25% more when measure how much electricity you've used

because they don't have the right to decide the price, and if they don't do that, they will loose money

so power cost is 20USD to 30USD I think.

Would you like to explain the major risk to this business, now I am worried about after I put money in the business of mining bitcoin, I am not able to sell these bitcoin, I am worried If there is enough people willing to pay USD for bitcoin.

Whey they are doing that?

similar in P.R.China, when you used 1kwh, they measure 1.25 kwh and charge 0.125 USD, while they will announce 0.1 USD

Really depends where you live in the US and the season.  My electric rate is as low as $0.06, and maxes out at $0.10, but some people in California pay up to $0.40/kwr in the summer.  :o  Gotta pay for all those green initiatives somehow I guess...

0.40/kWh in Fresno, California (top tier usage, which any decent mining operation will be in).

I'm paying just over £0.12 kWh on average (averaged between my two rates based on my usage) out in the middle of Wales; whats that about $0.20.

But taking a look I could drop that to just under £0.11 ($0.18) on average if I switched provider; either way the UK gets the short end of the stick  :-X

I was just looking around Texas $0.05 kwh in deregulated areas.  which just makes me sick, California we had deregulated power but we had a semi-retarded governor at the time Gray Davis who didn't understand how it works so shut it down.   Then the unions took over and now we have $0.15 electricity.  Guess there is always solar.

stable @ ~$.07/KWh in PA, US. State regulators have utility companies by the balls, here, to my advantage (nominally, anyway).

$0.06 CAD off peak and $0.07 on peak for me...I think during the winter the rate is a fixed $0.06.

Either way this is super cheap.

Wow.. $0.40 / kWh is quite expensive. At this rate even the not-so-cheaper nvidia cards (like mine) will fail.

Yeah that is just plain rip-off! Whatever country has such high electricity costs seriously needs to invest in more capacity and to increase competition among the providers.

Blame all the environmentalists... apparently, generating sufficient energy for your populace is considered a bad thing in California now.

Well.. not exactly the environmentalists, but the people who use them to make a lot of money :D

Most countries do invest in more capacity by having a price floor on the "green" energy and that's driving the prices up.

It has nothing to do with environmentalists.  The reason for high electricity prices in California are unions, teachers, and firefighters.  These are the greedy sobs that want everything.   They are all like City of Bell employees raping the average citizen with taxes.  All these utilities want control of the system, and they will install some solar panels at 10 times the market cost as long as they control the system and can rape us.  As long as the profits go to their pensions.

All the environmentalist asks is be given the right to hook up to the grid without a permit, without union labor, and force the utility to accept net-metering and install the necessary meter to do so on their dime.  Also allow us to sell to the grid.  PG&E, SC&E should have been taken over by state long ago and the grid 100% owned by the state using private firms to maintain the grid. We don't need a 8.5% sales tax we need to end the sales tax.

I would install a solar system tomorrow if I could do it myself.

$0.028/kWh  ;D

Well, not yet. That's where I'm moving the rigs when it's financially worth it (friend's house in Chelan county, Washington State). It's cheap because of the hydro power in the county. It's so cheap that, in the winter, people run crappy baseboard electric heaters rather than wood stoves or furnaces.

lol fo sh0 dawg....but umm  yeah I think US and Canada needs more nuclear power plants - as unpopular and "scary" as that idea seems.

I'd move right next to one and ask the company operating the plant to run a 230,000V 3 phase power feed to the house lol!

I'd be sippin them jiggawatts twenty'fo'seven..fo sho!

Nah.. I tend to prefer the "green" power plants. Not because they are "greener" than nuclear ones. They have the great advantage of being a renewable power sources.
However there is something fishy about the way of government support for green energy. And not only in the post soviet countries..

Anyway this is what I see/hope/believe for a future and better world: we stop using oil -> the pollution of the oceans is diminished -> the green algae return to their normal population -> the nature then will have enough resources to process the little extra CO2 from our bio plants.

$0.186/kwh (first 200 kwh)
$0.217/kwh (201-500 kwh)
$0.235/kwh (501-750 kwh)
$0.310/kwh (751 kwh and more)

since my rigs are at 950 watts/h, they do make up for 690 kw/h of the monthly bill.
my normal usage is around 300 kwh, 690+300 is 990, a month's bill will be around $235. :o
