Title: Trading bitcoins in China
Post by: blazing on August 06, 2012, 03:26:41 AM
I'm an Australian expat living in Shanghai.
Buying and selling bitcoins here is very convenient. I use btcchina.com and can have money transfered from my Chinese bank account into the exchange within 10 minutes. Cashing out usually takes 24 hours.
In a few months I will be returning to Australia and I'm wondering how easy it is to get money on and off an exchange there? Also whats it like in other countries?

Also if anyone needs to buy or sell bitcoin anywhere in Asia I can provide assistance/advice as I have been doing it for the last 5 months.

Not sure what your best option overall is, but Jeremy West is in AU (I believe)
One of the most trustworthy guys to deal with in our community.

10% fee? That's a bit steep. I pay 0.5% using btcchina in China. I guess I will just have to stay here then  ;)

For larger amounts, of course, wire transfer is the fastest / least expensive.  Mt. Gox or other exchanges offer this.

In addition to Spend Bitcoins there is BitPiggy (though they've had problems with their bank on and off).   CryptoXChange is based in Australia, though I don't know if they offer an AUD withdrawal method.  They do take AUD cash deposits.

The 10% fee is for buying BTC. You asked about cashing out - that's very close to spot price. It's called spendBTC for a reason. ;)

Better than spot price, actually, by about 2%. :)
