Title: Preserving a tooth
Post by: Vod on March 17, 2015, 07:29:32 PM
Less than two years ago I had most of my teeth capped.  (I had acid reflux all my life and most of my teeth were rotted down to the root.)

Now a single tooth has popped off it's cap.  I see my dentist next Monday, but was wondering what should I do to keep the tooth clean until then?

I carry a little kit in my first aid that is for "packing" a tooth. It's sort of a temporary cap or filling. I'll see if I can find a link. BRB.

Ok. This is not the exact one I have, but I see there are a variety of them on the market.

My dentist covered my tooth in quick setting gunk to protect it until he could fix it a few weeks later. The stuff RodeoX linked to sounds like it.

Definitely don't try putting the cap back on or near your mouth. :(

I'm quite certain everyone and their dog knows this one, but I'll just say it anyways. Gargle salt water. I hope you're not in too much pain, although I'm pretty sure you must be.

Actually, no pain at all.  All my teeth had root canals (due to the acid reflux) so it's just a dead stump.  I'm more concerned about keeping my tooth clean.

I think I'm just going to drop it in some milk.  But thank you everyone for your advice!  I appreciate it.
