I think it is very much not a good law/policy for the EU to implement. According to various WSJ news reports over the past several months, google has only censored search results when people accessed google via EU based domains (like google.de), and when people searched for something that should have been censored via a non-EU based domain (like google.com) the results would still show up. Ironically, several news outlets actually wrote news articles about previous news articles that were sometimes decades old that reflected unfavorably on EU citizens when they received notification that various search engines were removing search results about the sometimes decades old articles. The main problem I see here is that the service in question (this board) does not require any private or personal information to use it. Thus any private or personal information have been given freely and under full understanding that they are published publicly. Additionally this board does not have to business location within european borders (which google has), thus european law would probably not applicable even with the google precedent. 1 get perm ban on it as will never be lifted so its gone forever and never to be returned 2 change all details to random data have a email account and then once changed it all remove email or delete email address. 3 Sell the account on 4 donate the account and give it away to someone. 5 Maybe ask admins to remove it with option to not allow signup of it again. |
