USA had good start with Taylor on crease but once he gone, it's downhill from there, right now 71-4 (10 ov), I have some hope on Gous but other than that it seems that USA has already lost this game.
United state of America did a great performance today even they are going to lose this message because in the last over they need 26 run they have enough wicket but I don't think there can able to reach this run at the end of the day. But hats of their batsman they played against one of the stronger team South Africa
South Africa set USA a target of 195 runs which was a huge target for USA. South Africa Quinton de Kock and Markram put on a 110-run stand in 60 balls for the second wicket which saw South Africa go for a big total. USA started well in the second innings but fell under run rate pressure due to middle order failure. The sixth-wicket partnership of Harmeet Singh and Andries Gous put on a 43-ball 91-run partnership almost to take the team to victory, but Rabada broke the sixth-wicket partnership in the 19th over. In the end, the United States lost by 18 runs.

They needed 28 runs from 12 balls. When Andries Gous and Harmeet Singh managed to score a massive 22 runs from the 18th over which was bowled by Tabraiz Shamsi, I thought for a few seconds that there was actually a chance that USA would win this match. Shamsi ended up with figures of 4-0-50-1. But in the first ball of the next over bowled by Kagiso Rabada, Harmeet Singh got out and that effectively ended the US chase. Andries Gous stayed till the end, but he ran out of support from the other end.

Yes , you are right that decision of ICC is wrong. ICC should choose UAE for the World Cup hosting. USA have no professional staff to take care of pitch and in USA there is no trend of cricket. But that is politics and USA want to earn money by this World Cup and ICC collaborated with USA government and that is bad decision for big teams. New Zealand and Pakistan are out of  the World Cup while USA and Scotland are in the World Cup.Mist Probably USA and Scotland will lose in super 8 and they will not qualify for Semi final. When I think that , Pakistan and New Zealand should be in the super 8. Tournament will be more interesting and enjoyable.Pakistani team played bad but Pakistani team has potential to win against any team ,so Pakistani team is more dangerous than USA and Scotland.

The problem with USA was that the weather conditions were not good, and the preparations were not done properly. If they can work on these aspects, then USA can become the cash cow for ICC. The India vs Pakistan match alone $15 million in the form of gate collection. If the same match is hosted in UAE, then the most we can expect is $2 million. On top of that, I don't have a good impression about the UAE. It is known as the global hub of match fixing, and criminals like Dawood Ibrahim are often spotted during international matches.

Disappointed with the matches in Group A so far. I expected Scotland and Hungary to put up tougher fights, but so far they have gone down meekly in all the matches. Scotland's match against Switzerland is next and will start in around an hour from now. But the Swiss are in great form and Scots suffered a huge defeat against Germany. If the match gets drawn, then Scots still can keep their hopes alive. They just need to get full 3 points from their last group stage match (vs Hungary).

Why South Africa is constantly struggling against the associate nations? Back in group stage, they had a close match against Nepal and just scrape through by a margin of 1 run. And then they had a close match against the Netherlands. And today, they setup a massive target of 195 against the USA, but then the Americans really fought hard and lost the match only by a small margin of 18 runs. Given this, I am not sure whether we can consider them as one of the favorites, although they have remained unbeaten so far.

LOL.. you are talking about chasing down a target of 195, and that too against world class bowlers such as Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi and Keshav Maharaj. As long as Andries Gous is there, they would fancy their chances, but now the required run rate has climbed to 13.5 runs per over. And a win for the Proteas would also mean that they would remain unbeaten so far in this competition. And along with India and Australia, they are among the favorites to lift the trophy.

This match was very tight, after the first half ended, i thought the result would be Albania as the winner or maybe Croatia being able to equalize with a score of 1-1, but unfortunately this second match was full of threats from both teams, resulting in a score that was far from anyone's predictions i think. This result was also ruined my bet, i chose Albania as the Winner, but unfortunately it didn't happened.

After the Qatar world cup, Croatia has been in poor form. They performed well below the mark during the Euro qualifiers (In Group D, they finished at 2nd place behind Turkey). And now the draw against a weak Albania was quite unexpected. To their credit, they did well to come back from a scoreline of 0-1 in the 11th minute (that was when Qazim Laci scored for Albania). I am a bit worried for them, because they are in one of the toughest groups, along with Italy and Spain. And they have just 1 point from 2 matches so far.

Estonia team won today's match by 31 runs.Estonia team came to bat and set a target of 186 runs in 20 overs. The run target given by Estonia team was the right run for Estonia team to win for which Estonia team won the match by 31 runs.Cyprus team 19.4  155 runs in the over and left the field all out. The batting line and bowling line of the Cyprus team were weak.

LOL.. they are Estonia and Cyprus in name only. I checked the list of players, and "Estonia" squad only had two native players (Marko Vaik and Kalle Vislapuu). A few years ago, more than half of their players were native, but then the expats took over the team. Cyprus was even worse. They just had one native player (James Chialoufas). But then Cyprus squad was always like that. It was always dominated by expats. BTW, I noticed that Estonia women's squad was almost entirely comprised of natives.

First half is done and as expected Hungary is trailing by 0-1. Jamal Musiala scored the goal for Germany in the 22nd minute. I don't think that Hungary has any chance of qualifying for the next phase now. They lost their first match, and if they lose today's match as well, then they are out of the tournament. And they had only 29% ball possession in the first half. As of now, it looks as if both Germany and Switzerland will qualify for the next round, with Hungary and Scotland losing out.

Idk what to make out of such stories.

He was good enough to represent one of the toughest test sides in the world and when retirement time came, he switched. Good for Italy, they might learn a thing or two from him and hope in the process they improve their ranking.

Had Scotland qualified for Super8 in this year's T20 world cup (they came really close in doing that), then there was a good chance that Italy could have qualified for the next ICC T20 World Cup. But now they need to compete with both Netherlands and Scotland for the 2 spots from Europe region and there is only a small chance that they will be able to finish at top-2. Anyway, one thing that I liked about Italy is that 80% of the squad is comprised of native Italians, unlike the case with most of the other European associates.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 19, 2024, 04:22:06 PM
The second ODI match between India women and South Africa women team was full of excitement and even this match turned out to be a high voltage match. Indian women batted first in today's match. Smriti Mandana completed her century in the second ODI match like the first ODI match today too i.e. she scored back to back centuries. Along with Smriti Mandano, another of her teammates, Harmanprit Kaur, also scored a century, mainly due to the excellent batting performance of both of them, the Indian women were able to score 325 runs.

Batting at a target of 326 runs, South Africa women also batted very well. Just as two batsmen of Indian women's team scored centuries today, two batsmen of South Africa women's team also scored centuries. But unfortunately the South African women's team lost dramatically in today's match by just four runs. South Africa women ended their innings with a single run off two balls when they needed six runs off two balls.

Totals of 300 plus are very rare in women's ODI cricket. But today South Africa came really close in chasing the target of 326 that was set by India. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur both scored centuries for India, while South African opening bowlers (Masabata Klaas and Ayabonga Khaka) leaked tons of runs in all directions. But in return, South African women almost chased down the target, with Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp scoring hundreds. Indian opening bowlers were expensive, but the spinners pulled back the match for them.

Fair point but the record is there to stay. Yeah, we can argue about ranking but similarly, it could also be said about Ferguson'r record as well that he stat padded against the weaker associate (which I don't endorse).

Well, I don't mind ICC handing over T-20 status to every associate but they should up their ante by supporting them more by providing some game time with Top 10 or Top 20 teams.

I don't have a problem if teams like India or Australia refuse to play against the associate nations. But then, when teams like Ireland or Zimbabwe, or for that matter Bangladesh or Sri Lanka does the same, it doesn't set a good precedent. The bottom ranking full members should play more often against top-ranked associates (such as Scotland, Netherlands, Nepal and Namibia), at least in the T20I format. Why Zimbabwe is treated as a priority member, when better teams like Nepal are given only 1/50th of the funds in comparison?
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: June 19, 2024, 04:02:20 PM
The ICC may have created the groups in such a way that the strongest teams secure the semi-finals. According to ICC predictions, India and Australia will secure the semi-finals from this group and South Africa and England from another group will secure the semi-finals. If the eight teams played one match each in the quarter finals, the competition would have been tight and from there the top four teams in the points table would have qualified for the next round. If this was done, the tournament would have been a little longer, but there would not have been so much criticism of the ICC for making this schedule.

Not sure about the other group. Instead of England, I would say that West Indies are the favorites to enter semi-finals. England pacers went for plenty whenever they faced quality batsmen. And their team as a whole looks unbalanced. On the other hand, West Indies has the home advantage and their players seems to be in great form. In Group 1, the other two teams apart from India and Australia are too weak and they don't stand any chance of qualification to the next round.

The match between Germany and Hungary will start in a few minutes from now. Germany will be the solid favorites, after their demolition of Scotland earlier. Hungary is also not in very good form, as they went down by a heavy margin against Switzerland in their first match. And in around 3 hours from now, Scotland will take on Switzerland. In case Germany and Switzerland win their respective matches today, then they are assured of a spot in the next phase with 6 points from two matches.

Read more into it and found out Canada's Saad Bin Zafar (Originally from Pakistan) was the first cricketer to achieve this sort of feat, which was against Panama in t-20 WC America's Region Qualifier and his stat reads 4-4-0-2.

Well, in this WC, many bowlers got some juicy stats so anything is possible.

I really doubt whether Panama even ranks among the top-50 T20I teams. But then the ICC made all the matches between associate nations as T20Is. Now the problem is that a stronger associate nation (such as Scotland or Nepal) can invite a really weak team like Falkland Islands or Mongolia for a T20I series, and then get themselves into the record books. I am a big supporter of associate teams, but the decision to grant T20I status to all the associate matches was a short-sighted one.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC Men's T20 World Cup - 2024 #Cricket Prediction and Discussion on: June 18, 2024, 05:00:49 PM
That spell by Lockie Ferguson was simply unbelievable (4-4-0-3).
I don't think we will witness anyone beating this record in T-20 anytime soon if I dare to say then, at least not in our lifetime. It could be possible in associate cricket but not in the internationals.

Even 6 sixes in an over looks doable and simple task when comparing 24 dots balls spell with 3 timber in a batting dominated format.

Technically no one can "beat" this record, as he conceded 0 runs from 4 overs. Others will be able to equalize, but doing better than this is theoretically impossible. With the ICC expanding the tournament to 20 teams, we may find incidents like this happening more often. Still, it is hard to believe that this Ferguson guy, who got whacked all around the park in the IPL a few months back is now performing so well for his national team. PNG still made a somewhat decent total of 78.

The score has become 1-1.

LOL.. Georgia has to be one of the weakest teams in this tournament. The fact that Turkey is struggling against them shows how weak are they right now. Mert Muldur got the lead for Turkey in 25th minute, but a few minutes after that Mikautadze made it 1-1. In terms of stats (possession, shots and passes), Turkey is far ahead, but they are failing to convert this advantage into goals. BTW, I am quite excited for the next match (Portugal vs Czechia). We will see Cristiano Ronaldo in action!

The official fixtures for the quarter finals have been made. Group A has India Australia Bangladesh Afghanistan and Group B has England South Africa West Indies and USA.  Every match in the quarter finals is sure to be interesting as the top 8 teams from all the teams qualify for the quarter finals. As the game hasn't started yet I'll put the four teams in the best position for the semi-finals. According to my prediction India, West Indies, Australia and South Africa will be among the four teams.

LOL.. India and Australia are in the same group. This means that things will get difficult for India. Defeating Bangladesh and Afghanistan maybe easy, but in order to finish at the top of the group they need to defeat the Aussies as well. The other group is relatively easier, with USA among the participants. From that group West Indies and South Africa are likely to qualify for the semi-finals. The pitches will be more supportive for batting, as from now onwards all the matches will be scheduled in West Indies.

Does any one remember Joe Burns? He played a total of 23 test matches for Australia, with the last match occurring in 2020. Now he has decided to represent Italy (Burns recently became an Italian citizen, as his grandfather was born in that country). In the final of European Qualifier A, he managed to hit 108 not out from just 55 balls, as Italy made a massive total of 244/4. They won the match by 160 runs against Romania. It needs to be seen whether Italy will qualify or not, as they need to finish among top-2 in the regional final.

Namibia has only one good player in their team and that is David Wiese.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/cricketers/david-wiese-221140

Another good player is near to retiring from cricket and after that, he will just likely to see us in the leagues especially, in PSL to play for Lahore Qalandars and now he is likely to retire according to the sources and also Cricinfo too, He is David Wiese who is a South African player and also played a World Cup for them but after dropping from the team for too much time he decided to play for another country and came to Namibia but now he is gonna be retire from cricket. It maybe his last World Cup after this we will not see him in international matches.

Well, David Wiese is a quality player. But then I would disagree when you claim that he is the only quality player for Namibia. They have Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz and Gerhard Erasmus in their squad, and all of them are quality players. Then they have exciting young talent such as Jack Brassell and Nikolaas Davin. The problem with Namibia is that unlike the case with India or Australia, they are not a British colony. So there cricket is not very popular in that country. It is mostly played by the German (Wiese, Trumpelmann, Scholtz.etc) and Dutch speaking minority, and hardly anyone among the native African community is interested in the sport.

NZ Team gave an excellent performance after losing two consecutive match in previous match they dominated on Uganda just 40 runs while today match news Zealand restricted Papua new Guinea on 78 runs excellent bowling by new Zealand bowlers. Lockie Ferguson created history in t20 world cup by taking 3 wickets and 4 overs doing maiden this is the second time in t20 international any bowlers do his spell maiden trent boult and tim southee spell was also brilliant they took 2, 2 wickets and new Zealand team easily chased the target. PNG lost their all matches and New Zealand finished number 3 in the points table with four points if they manage to beat West Indies they will be in the Super Eight in recent few years New Zealand team performance has been outstanding black caps is giving their hundred percent but unluckily they could not deliver in knockout stages.

That spell by Lockie Ferguson was simply unbelievable (4-4-0-3). He bowled 24 deliveries in T20I cricket, and didn't conceded a single run. But even then, Papua New Guinea managed to reach a total of 78. And make no mistakes here. 78 is a decent total for an associate nation, against a team like New Zealand, given the pitch conditions. Anyway, it was the end of tournament for PNG. They lost all of the matches they played, but every time they gave a good fight to their opponents. And despite winning yesterday's match, New Zealand could not qualify for the Super8 phase.
