1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will ecommerce websites start accepting Bitcoin as payment soon? on: June 14, 2024, 08:40:25 AM
Have you been living under a rock all these years? What you're stating is more of a reality than something to think about.
There are already sites that accept payment in bitcoin for goods and services provided. A quick Google search would have provided you with some websites that already do so.

2  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do you think it's best to consistently use the same exchange? on: June 05, 2024, 11:32:00 AM
I think most people, when they get familiar then comfortable with one option would find it difficult to explore other options. Probably having thoughts like “why risk anything and try other alternatives when the one you're currently using is working fine”. I think being familiar and comfortable which in turn brings about a sense of “safety” makes people prefer to consistently use the same exchange over time mostly ignoring other and sometimes better options out there.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you understand entertainment? on: June 04, 2024, 12:25:13 PM
It is only rich people can use gambling as entertainment because for them the result of losing is only entertainment. But many people gamble with the dream of becoming rich, but when they lose, they lose their money. Gambling is difficult to lose, so there is no entertainment. I was sitting in a shop eating and next to me a man was placing bets repeatedly in gambling. I see his wallet he has lost a lot of money yet he is betting but this was not enough entertainment for me. Because I know that it is difficult to earn that money if you lose by gambling.

Only rich folks use gambling as a form of entertainment… That’s simply not true. Average and low income earners also see and use gambling as a form of entertainment.
Agreed, having consistent winnings during gambling would definitely help and add to one’s excitement level and entertainment derived from the activity. I think if one has the sole interest of winning some money or making an income from the activity, that takes away most or all of the entertainment to be had.

Chasing one’s losses is never advised. There’ll definitely be no entertainment to be had and you’ll end up losing money as well.
4  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you prefer getting a loan for a startup or getting an investor? on: May 27, 2024, 06:00:12 PM
It would surely seem better on getting someone to invest in your startup than looking to the bank for a loan to startup. Loans require a collateral in equivalent to the sum being borrowed and asides all that, you startup has to look and feel promising to the bank in order for your loan to be approved. No bank would invest money in a business that they feel is bound to fail.

Same goes with an investor. I personally think while it’s better to source for an investor, it would be quite easier to acquire a loan from the bank for your startup. Like banks, investors aren’t necessarily going to put their monies into just any project especially a startup that is just coming off.
I would think they’re more likely to put their monies into something that has already started and is looking promising.

6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 14, 2024, 04:10:59 PM

In the end, Manchester United managed to draw the match. But I would have been very happy if Bournemotuh could have won the match. They deserve all 3 points from this match. Well played by the Bournemouth players and they worked very hard.

Even though it was an away match, we considered Manchester United as the favorite in this match. But we didn't expect to see such a bad performance from United's players. While Bournemouth's players made a total of 20 shots in the entire match, United's players made only 8 shots. Throughout the match we saw the dominance of Bournemouth players.

Bournemouth might have well won the game. One could say they deserved the win as they did try in playing against a supposedly stronger opponent. They worked hard and I think they might have come out with the win if not for the penalty.
I’m glad Manchester United didn’t lose the game, although I’m so disappointed in their performance as I had been expecting a win. They were considered favorites but couldn’t pull of a win. Bournemouth showed persistence as they actually made attempts to score goals.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: The benefits of risk taking on: April 14, 2024, 03:39:56 PM
It is only a naive person will start up or join a business without knowing what they are in for "profits or loss"
Risk is entering into something that is not properly studied or Understood. A wise man will say it is better to take a calculated risk before starting up something.

Some people start up a business, project, and so on without knowing the necessary things that need to be studied and understood from the business. That makes it funny that some people didn't learn how to take a calculated risk before opening a business for themselves. Which makes them forget to weigh the risk of the kind of business they want to start whether it will favor them or not.

Risks is taking a chance knowing fully well of the looming possibility of failure. Starting a business or investing in a project without knowing or properly having a good understanding of what it entails is stupid. You’ll be merely throwing your money away.
A calculated risk on the other hand shows the risk taker is aware of the chances and possibilities of failure before he goes ahead to do whatever.

People starting out a small business without first knowing relevant information can be said to be taking risks that could bring certain failure.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: April 14, 2024, 03:17:50 PM

Exactly, it ends up being more hype than a fight. In the end, it will be an exchange of weak punches where both know each other's next move, an arranged dance. Where it's not worth watching or betting on. At least with the given rules.

It may not exactly be a real fight, I think it could still be enjoyable to watch. Perhaps the outcome of the fight has already been predetermined as the fight is merely for show. It’s obviously not your regular fight.
I would say it’s definitely not worth betting your money on as the outcome might not necessarily be determined by skills or strength and while the differences in age, speed and strength between both fighters is obvious, the outcome is still highly speculated.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 14, 2024, 01:48:59 PM

In my opinion I will say Marcus Rashford has overstayed in the Premier League club Manchester United and needs to explore some more other clubs before his career crumbles in his own eyes right at Manchester United. I am glad Anthony Martial will be leaving soon because all his years he has spent in Manchester United cannot be something he’ll be boastful of. I don’t mean he didn’t do well or wasn’t attracted to bigger teams but I’ll say he misused some earlier opportunities that he would have gone to explore to other places and maybe be on top of his performance now. Fate happens and it already decides for most of them. They should try and move on and get a better place to continue or retire their careers when the time comes.

I’m thinking along the same lines as well. Rashford has been in the team for quite a while and in my opinion, doesn’t seem to be doing any better. I’ve always thought of him to be a really good player and I know he can do much better.
He may actually perform much better playing for another club and under a new management. It’s about time he looks somewhere else. That is, if he doesn’t want to end his career at Manchester United.
As for Anthony Martial, I’m glad he’s leaving to share his skills with another club. He’s not old and still has some fight left in him.

10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: April 14, 2024, 01:30:24 PM
Currently, all teams are trying to perform as well as possible in order to get points in the remaining matches, but sometimes this is very unfortunate for a team like Manchester United, which should be in the top six if they can win at home to Bournemouth. And the current position for the Manchester United team is still not very safe because Chelsea still has two less matches than other teams so Chelsea has the opportunity to take Manchester United's position if Chelsea can win the next two matches for them.

Everyone is trying to get as much points as they can get as the season is coming to an end. And it’s obviously expected all teams to put in their best in a bid to claim all the points as they can. Not entirely the case with Manchester United. I had expected them to have the win going in with the game with Bournemouth. They had underperformed in my opinion as I don’t think they made enough attempts to score goals. Good for them on getting a penalty that gave them their second goal. Perhaps Bournemouth would have gone on to win the game if not for the penalty.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 14, 2024, 10:32:07 AM
You can never take gambling as a hobby because hobbies are those things where no income comes into play. But people get addicted to gambling mainly for income. People can garden as a hobby, collect physical coins, some like to fish or some like to travel. But gambling people become addicted for pleasure but later it is not limited to pleasure but is considered as a significant means of income.
Again many use it as a means of passing time and that is fine but if one considers it as a hobby then I would say it is completely absurd.

Gambling could very well be considered a hobby and it isn’t absurd. It’s very possible to earn some money from your hobbies. That way, you would enjoy doing what you ordinarily do and make some money off it as well. A hobby is any activity that you enjoy doing at your leisure and just because you earn from doing it doesn’t mean it isn’t a hobby.
Not everyone who perhaps initially plays for pleasure ends up using gambling as a significant means of making some money. There are still some people who enjoy gambling, takes it as a hobby and still don’t see nor use it as a significant means of earning some money.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online casino gambling is more of profit chasers while land base is more of fun on: April 14, 2024, 09:47:00 AM
What is your opinion towards my research that online casino gambling has more of possesed players who stakes to make profits while the land base gambling is more of players who stakes for funs?

I beg to differ. I don’t think people who visit the land based casinos to gamble are merely looking for the thrill and fun while people who gamble on an online platform are looking to get profit.
People who visit land based casinos are very serious as well about making some money off their bets. You’ll find more people who play with substantial sums of money in the land based casinos. I would go a step further to say that the money that flows or are sunk in gambling are mostly from land based casinos.

I would have loved to see whatever data and research you did that had you come to this conclusion.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: April 13, 2024, 11:22:38 PM
As a professional gambler and they understanding gambler you are not supposed to discuss anything that relate with gambling in the presence of your children because that's motivate your children or give your children the insight of gambling when they have nothing understand the advantages and the disadvantages of gambling probably gambling is meant for rich people and it is also called entertainment for them but we we massively engage in gambling due to we needed a quick money and we think that the gambling is the shortest way of making money so that is why we don't need to discuss anything that relates to the gambling in the presence of our children

I don’t think just talking about gambling in front of minors would motivate them to take a liking to gambling and start right away. If even, they understand what is being said, I doubt they’ll be motivated to go into gambling just from what someone says.
Gambling isn’t necessarily for the rich people and it’s entertainment for all and not just for the rich. Instead of shying away from the topic, I would think it’s best to be open and clear with minors, telling them what they need to know and understand before they get to the age of being influenced into doing what they should not be doing.
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: April 12, 2024, 11:46:54 PM
Even if Manchester United has plans of sacking him, they can't introduce a failed manager like Graham Potter as replacement for Erik Ten Hag. That would be ridiculous!

It actually would be ridiculous if Man United decides to do away with Ten Hag and goes ahead and selects Graham Potter to be his replacement. I wouldn’t exactly call him a failed manager although his time at Chelsea haven’t been rosy either.
He definitely wouldn’t be a good pick in my opinion. He would probably be more clueless and probably struggle a great deal more than Ten Hag has. His services as a manager would not be able to give Man United a much needed face lift.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you believe in savings or investment on: April 12, 2024, 11:21:05 PM
Although it makes sense, I think it all depends on the individual. With an income of $150-$200 you can still invest and save if you can really manage it well and put aside personal needs that are not too important or minimize them, which in my opinion you can still save and also invest with an amount of $15 -$20 every month.
.

Only in developing countries where the exchange rate of the local currency compared to the dollar is much. Folks in the US surely won’t be able to comfortably invest some after putting aside some for savings. All on an income of  $150 to $200.
In developing nations having a high exchange rate to the dollar, one could likely live comfortable and modestly and perhaps put a little bit away for saving. I think if you’re earning a modest amount, it’s best to save leaving investments when you’ve accumulated enough.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think merit is by chance or lengthy article? on: April 12, 2024, 10:46:54 PM
You have said it all, a post that's very lenghty and contains no knowledge or be of any help to someone is of no use. Moreover we don't comment on every posts we come across on the form. Look for threads you know you have adequate knowledge about and dedicate yourself there. Some people comments on every posts they come across on the forum, which is not very good. You already know that without quality posts nothing for you.

You’re right on the point you made; people in a bid to get merits go on to write on threads and boards that they have little to no knowledge of what the discussions are about. In a bid to look knowledgeable and perhaps to earn merits, they end up being put on peoples ignore list cause of the misleading or outright false information they keep spewing out.
There’s an active thread aiming to call such users out for posting false and misleading information on the technical board. It’s much better to stick to and contribute your knowledge to the boards and topics you are actually versed  in. You’ll still be recognized and merited
17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Gambling A Hobby? on: April 12, 2024, 09:39:52 PM
For some people maybe they will say that gambling is their hobby, and others will say that it is their career, and others will say that it is where they build their network, etc. There are several reasons people gamble and why they gamble and usually it is not limited to just one reason. But whatever the reason, a person must gamble for fun, because after all gambling cannot be used as a place for someone to get rich quickly.

I do try to think of how people who see gambling as a career path think. Do they actually think they could make a real career out of gambling? Despite having series of losses and perhaps some few wins here and there, how can one remain convinced that you could actually make a career out of gambling. Do they actually plan to grow using gambling as a career?
It cannot be used as a medium to get rich quickly because that’s an unrealistic expectation from gambling. People unfortunately, still seem to think and see gambling as a means of making money.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: If being a graduate is the key to being wealthy, why are there poor graduates? on: April 12, 2024, 04:29:53 PM
For me graduates are not the key to becoming rich, because currently there are so many graduates who are unemployed because they don't develop skills in their respective fields, and the ones who become entrepreneurs nowadays are mostly people who don't have a university diploma, so everyone it depends on convincing each of us and being willing to try to find change.

Having a college education isn’t necessarily the key to becoming wealthy in life but then, you won’t deny that having a college degree gives you an edge over a high school diploma in the job market. It shows having a college degree is important nevertheless.
No doubt, there are people who have managed to start up and successfully manage a business without having a college education. Those businesses would be small businesses and later on, you’ll fine the owner of the business going back to college to learn a thing or two to earn a degree.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Debt Management. on: April 11, 2024, 11:54:24 PM

It is important for people to go for loan thst they can afford to pay back because taking so much amount of money as loan without any consideration on how to pay back is just putting more debt and financial burden on one's self.

It’s not just about the ability of the individual to pay back the loan on or before it’s due date. In my opinion, you must put the money taken out as a loan to good use. The ability to pay back is important no doubt, but the loan ought to be put to good use as well.
Note that loans that are being given out either from either loan sharks or  financial institutions(banks) would require a collateral that matches the value of the loan as well as an interest rate attached. If you don’t pay up when it’s time, your collateral would be then possessed and used to settle the loan.
Now imagine one taking out a loan of about $10k while using his home as collateral. Squanders it at the casino, finds it difficult to repay and loses his home.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: April 11, 2024, 11:32:03 PM

Lastly  , gambling is not a career and I have never seen any portfolio that bears gambling as an occupation or a means for livelihood.

This sums it all up. Gambling isn’t a job. On occasion, one can win some some money here and there but as it doesn’t come regularly and at a certain time and no one literally employed you, it just cannot be said to be employment.
And then talking about starting a career is out of the question. A job is supposed to pay you for your time or/and services rendered without you requiring you to part with your money. With gambling, you part with some money hoping to win and can still end up losing. Gambling simply isn’t a job.
