1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you put money together with friends to bet on sports games? on: Today at 06:07:29 PM
Well if it is just for fun, we could bet together, even putting money together. Aside from thus being for recreation only, I might not be willing to join funds with friends to place serious and business-minded bet. Why should I do that when I have my personal account to gamble in private and my friends also have theirs? Besides, I wouldn't want issue of money to bring problem between me and my friends because money is one of the know thing that separate friends. The person whose account the money will enter might be tempted to do something funny. So to avoid this situation, it's better we gamble separately unless it is just for fun just like I stated before.
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY on: Today at 03:08:39 PM
I know this is common sense to the majority of people on this forum but I can't stress how important it is to gamble responsibly.

There was a recent case in Australia where a man lost his entire life savings of $400,000+ in a 48 hour gambling spree.

The gambler lost $12,000 in a single bet and then tried to chase that initial amount but ended up losing his life savings.

I am a seasoned and experienced gambler and my one piece of advice to people is to only bet what you can afford to lose otherwise you are setting yourself up for failure.
This advice is right on time because we cannot stress it enough. Even though casinos always put this statement in their websites, gamblers rarely pay attention to it. The above example is a good emphasis on the need to gamble responsibly and if gamblers see what damage irresponsible gambling can do, I'm sure some people will learn and gamble better.

I have paid my own dues as regards to irresponsible gambling and I learnt the hard way. Such experience is not sweet and not many people will remain normal after passing through it. The most important aspect of gambling is managing the bank roll.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What you need to do if you want to suceed in bitcointalk. on: Today at 02:50:58 PM
Don't open a thread asking what you have to do, that's what you have to do. If you do that what you are indicating is that you are a lazy person who has no initiative and is waiting for everything to be served on a platter to make money here. Because that's the end, no need to dissemble. In this forum you can earn money, and that's why people open threads asking what they have to do to "succeed" "earn merits" or whatever it is that leads to earn money, which is the purpose. Something that seems to me very well if you do it in an honest way and put effort and commitment, because the money you earn in an honest way is a measure of the success you have, of the value you bring to society.
Most of this questions and threads are done by newbies and it gets me surprised how someone will create account in a forum like this but will not spend few hours going through the forum to see if what he wanted are there, rather will create thread asking to be spoon-fed.  To me it is a sign of laxity and nothing else. The right thing to do is go through the forum boards to take a glance and see what is available and what is not because the answers to most of their questions are already pinned at the top of most of the boards.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is performing just fine currently on: Today at 12:44:25 PM
Recently, I have seen often talking about how Bitcoin is not going up fast enough, I usually see this mostly on social media. I haven't really seen it on this forum but I'm bringing it here just in case there are people here who have similar views

Almost exactly a year ago, the Bitcoin price was $30,534 on the 27th of June 2023. This was a year ago and at the time, this was a pretty impressive price because Bitcoin just hit $30k. A year from that time bitcoin is at $61, 423 (at the time of writing), that's a 100% increase in price and a 100% profit if you invested at the time.
A few months ago, we were celebrating Bitcoin at $40k, so how come now that Bitcoin is at $61k we're unimpressed? How is $60k looking ordinary when the previous ATH before this year was $69k?
Maybe it is because of me that the price of Bitcoin has not gone to the moon just yet because I have not met my objectives, so BTC is waiting for me to reach my accumulation target before moving Cheesy. Indeed Bitcoin have done so well within a space of one year and it is worth celebrating.  I remever when price lingered in the "don't wake me up region" after which it broke out and we were so excited that price finally moved and that was even sub $40k. Today Bitcoin is sitting comfortably at $60k yet there is serious dissatisfaction in the Bitcoin community. Well, don't blame people because the expectations were high that the combined force of the ETF and the Bitcoin halving will send the price above $100k. This was the expectations of many Bitcoiner but as that didn't happen just yet, many have become frustrated with the waiting.

But we must understand that the market will do what it wants and that no one can completely decide what path it will follow. Our best approach should be to think long term for therin lies the peace of mind needed by every investor. I have the feeling that the price will surge just when no one is expecting
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if There's a Bug No One Has Seen in Bitcoin? on: Today at 06:32:24 AM
I believe that nothing is perfect, that is why there is room for improvement. If a bug is found in Bitcoin, it will just be like the Ordinal attack which impacted Bitcoin but gradually or should I day have been resolved. People are constantly looking for loopholes in Bitcoin and other great innovations and that is normal because without those loopholes being identified, there will not be room for improvement. We just hope there will be no bug that is beyond redemption or that will cause serious damage to the Bitcoin protocol.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 24, 2024, 06:45:28 PM
Croatia is really in a difficult position that tonight it has to beat Italy if it wants to continue with the competition, and on the other hand, a draw is enough for Italy. It is interesting that Italy never managed to beat Croatia in official matches.
~

Bookmakers are currently quoting the Croatia - Italy game as:

3.15 - 3.15 - 2.44

and I must say that in this tournament Croatia looks much worse than 3.15. Italy is also not perfect, but I like 2.44 better. It seems to me that this game will end with Italy winning 1-0 or 2-0 since they have an advantage (a draw is enough for them) and they know how to defend.
I am in agreement with the rating of the bookmakers because Italy is definitely the favourite to win tonight. Croatia have not been the best of the team we watch in 2022 world Cup. Deep doing I'm actually expecting a draw so rhe best option to go for will be Italy to win or draw. Although, the odd is very small but it is more conservative and when c1wombined with Spain to win will give something significant. Spain will not have a gard time winning Albania who are already out of the competition.
7  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: For spot traders. You can start accumulating BTC here.. on: June 24, 2024, 05:29:34 PM

Based on TA, I think we this daily ORDER BLOCK would hold and we might see a trend reversal from here. My opinion though..

For futures traders, I'll suggest you do top down analysis and use lower time frame for entry.
If I'm buying to hold for long, then I will consider buying from this level the price is because that is a heavy discounted price that will yield maximum outcome for a continuous buy from the level upward. However, if I'm trading  for quick profits and short term hold, I will wait further because there is still liquidity below the $60k region that price will first seek before any sustainable upward move is expected. Although a limit order at various price points down to below the point of liquidity will yield optimal outcome.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 23, 2024, 11:35:09 PM
Germany managed to score a golal in extra time.
This was a vital point for them since also Spain will probably end 1st on its group, Germany positioning themself in 1st position have managed to avoid the game against Spain in the 1st elimination stage.

They will now probably face Italy or Croatia instead.
I'm so surprise to see Germany struggling to get a draw against Switzerland in a match that many people believed would be an easy win for the host nation. Well, they might have felt that since they already qualified, there was no point fighting too hard but assuming the lost the match, Switzerland would have topped the group. This draw also shows that surprises are not excluded from this competition because many people would have placed a direct win bet on Germany. As for me, I usually avoid games where the favorite side do not have any reason to be too competitive unless I have monitored them so well to see that their care more about records than the trophy.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which is easier, to quit when winning or to quit when losing? on: June 23, 2024, 05:26:02 PM
I know that as gamblers, everyone can relate to this question, as we have surely experienced it in real situations.

Suppose our bankroll is $100 and it has already grown to $500, would you quit or continue? Conversely, if with our bankroll, we are down to $10, would you still continue or save the remaining $10? I used specific amounts to make it easier to discuss this situation. I understand that we all gamble with different amounts based on our income, but consider this as an example. You can mention any amount you want based on your personal experience; it doesn't matter.
No body quits when things are going I your favor.  Depending on the type of gamble, if your luck is shining and you have won and still winning,  what is best is to withdraw part of the money or 90% of it and continue gambling with the remaining 10%. This is my pattern and it has helped me secure my wins and also maximize the opportunities of good gambling days. On the other hands, I have a limit for bad gambling days and a soon as that limit is triggered,  I will stop for the day. In summary, quitting is easier during losing than when winning is happening.

11  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Always verify if an exchange do still have NGN P2P feature before sending funds on: June 23, 2024, 08:28:26 AM
Before sending funds to trade on your centralized exchange, always check at immediate time If the exchange still allows NGN (#) P2P because the way naira is been scrapped off from the P2P feature is overwhelming.

Ignorant to do this verification before sending funds  from your self-custodial wallets to the exchange wallets will always cost you excess expenses on transaction fees from an exchange to another before you could realize yourself and call it mistakes.
I think the crackdown on the exchanges have began to wane following the realization of the government that such activities amounted to exercise in futility. We read how the federal government withdrew all their charges against Binance, all that are pointing to the fact that the exchanges have no hands in the ordeal of the Naira, rather government policies does. I was hoping that some government officials will be sacked for misleading the government but here is Nigeria where there are no consequences for rascality in government.

I don't think much has changed in the p2p market recently because we already know all the exchanges still offering such services to Nigerians. If peradventure you make a deposit to any of the exchanges that have deleted the NGN, you can simply withdraw through the TON network that have zero withdrawal fees. Although not all exchanges allow the TON network but at least the popular p2p exchanges in Naija does and I have used it in almost all of them.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers👉Group Stage on: June 22, 2024, 05:28:11 PM
Turkey vs Portugal

Portugal — Costa, Cancelo, Dias, Pepe, Mendes, Palhinha, Vitinha, Fernandes, Bernardo, Leao, Ronaldo.

Turkey — Bayindir, Celik, Akaydin, Bardakci, Kadioglu, Calhanoglu, Ayhan, Akgun, Kokcu, Arturkoglu, Yilmaz.

Here we go for the top teams in the group, today we will know who will lead in the table, to me predictions can be make but let see what the first half will look like.
I'm so disappointed at Turkey in the very match. They are playing as though they were not for the competition. I understand that Portugal is the favorite side but I expected some serious resistance from them, a fight that will give them the hope of at scoring a goal. With their performance that is looking like they are fatigued, it will be hard for them to score a single goal tonight. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo have once again demonstrated team spirit and leadership in the ball he passed to Bruno Fernandes. Ordinarily Ronaldo would have scored but seeing Bruno was in a better position, he passed the ball to him to make it 3 goals to nil against Turkey.
13  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Red flag worlds for crypto p2p on: June 22, 2024, 05:16:59 PM
My people first make I congratulate all of us, for how God have being protecting us from becoming victims of bad policy decisions of government,  because I haven't read any where in the localboard that any of our members bank accounts is flaged for dealing in cryptocurrencies,  despite our active involvement in the industry on a global scale.
Of a truth it is indeed a thing to celebrate say we never see anybody for our local board wey our government flag him account cos of cryptocurrency. I know say our government dey work dey and night to frustrate the youths wey dey survive through cryptocurrency, them don already block plenty accounts of people but e be like people for this forum don already get the update as per how to avoid them government. I remember say the crackdown been serious under the last administration but we manage to survive am so I believe say we go also survive this one too.

I say make I update una about recent developments as e concerned us and how we take the do our p2p,as we know say government don put eye for this matter of cryptocurrencies for we country a d now them done know say cryptocurrency p2p traders no the normally use crypto related words to avoid flagging of account since the first battle start in 2020 so the have resolved into adapting some global bank references mechanism which is simple.

Update
1: never user characters like ***,  FKY or any other characters that doesn't have meaning in the transactions references if you do your account will be flaged for crypto transactions.

2: use words that make a meaning some time you can put any sentence that make the transactions real pointing to purpose of funds, but never use crypto related or mentioned trade in your sentences.

Good Luck

Thank you for this correct update. As e be like this, our government dey all out to eat what belong to Caesar and to reap where them no sow. So the best way to stay safe na to stay away from anything wey go drag attention come our side. When I dey do crypto-related transaction, me dey simply write the name of the recipient for the description. This way I no go answer question at all and attention no go enter the transaction.
14  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Do Not Pressure Anyone Around You To Invest In Bitcoin. on: June 22, 2024, 04:34:12 PM
I always say that investing in Bitcoin is more like a gamble and in gambling there are two things involved, it's either you lose or you win, and pressuring a newbie that knows nothing about the rise and fall of Bitcoin to invest is attracting problems for yourself if anything goes wrong at the end of the day because they think it's invest today and cash out tomorrow which is obviously not the case. Though there's nothing wrong in telling your friends and relatives to invest in Bitcoin but let it be only without pressure or imposing it on anyone to avoid being held responsible for their loses because people are impatient these days.
I don't quite agree with your analogy because to me gambling is totally different from investment in Bitcoin. In gambling, when you lose, all your money is gone but in Bitcoin, you only lose money when you sell. If you can wait out bearish season, you will hardly lose money in Bitcoin. Bitcoin is less emotionally draining and those who held for a longer time get richer. Instead of comparing investment in Bitcoin to gambling, it is wise to compare buying some new coins to gambling because you are not sure if the coin will survive or fail.... this is the real definition of gambling. To support this, people buy memecoins with small amount of money such as they are able to lose whereas they invest in Bitcoin with big amount because they know the risk is lower in Bitcoin.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is age a limitation in Bitcoin on: June 22, 2024, 12:41:34 PM
There are many factors that stop people from knowing more about Bitcoin. Yes, the tech itself stops them thinking that things are too complicated for them to learn even if they want to buy Bitcoin. But without digging more, they already failed themselves by stopping there and not learning about it anymore. And it's true that it's hard to educate everyone at the same time when some aren't really interested and the others are thinking the same thing unlike us that we're enthusiastic about Bitcoin and telling them how great it is with its potential but them, they're not expecting a lot but that's okay.
You are right Tabas and I can remember trying to teach my boss certain things in his phone and he categorically declined saying that it will not be easy for him to understand probably because he felt it was too comicated for him base on his age. Most advanced people do not derive any phone learning new things especially things that seem like a major deviation to what they know or do. As we all know, Bitcoin is a major deviation from what was obtainable in the field of finance and investing. While you reference the technical aspect of this, I have another twist to the discussion.

I have seen that many older people do not find investment in BItcoin attractive because they feel they have missed it when it was cheaper and that now it is difficult to build a good investment portfolio in Bitcoin as they are mostly not in active service again. So age is really a huge factor when comes to embracing and investing in Bitcoin.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting on political events on: June 22, 2024, 08:42:35 AM
I will never take serious risk betting on political events because such decisions are heavily affected by political inclination and does not conform to the principles of emotion-free gambling that I practice. Furthermore, I have noticed a pattern in the political space that makes it possible for the worst set of people to win elections, meaning there are forces somewhere that wants weak leaders/nations for whatever reasons I do not know. So the popular and better candidates rarely win.

My country had elections last year and there was a candidate that everyone wanted to win, people donated their resources and time campaigning for him in all the nooks and cranny of my country. But during the election, the electoral laws were suspended,  internet jammed and the forces of hell was unleashed on my country and he was rigged out of the system. He was given the lowest odds because all opinion polls gave him landslide victory. That was an eye opener to me.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What ruined your chances of investing in Bitcoin earlier? on: June 22, 2024, 07:49:01 AM
Mine was ignorance! I never knew or had in mind that holding Bitcoin will amount to a wise investment decision. I was simply buying and using Bitcoin  to pay for services across borders. If I had known that holding those Bitcoins or part of them would make me supper rich in the future, I would have simply jettisoned those businesses, some of which turned out to be scam, and save those precious coins and be living like a king now. I don't know if I should regret because through those businesses, I saw the power and beauty of Bitcoin.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigerian Government plans to begin taxing gambling. on: June 22, 2024, 07:42:00 AM
Tinubu is really looking to feed from anywhere he sees tjat the youths are actively engaged in making money. He is done with cryptocurrency with work done equal to zero, now he is about to face gambling and I'm sure he will not achieve anything too. Instead of improving the economy and ease of doing business in Nigeria, his policies are simply killing businesses and all he does is tax the hell out of the people. I know so many people that run gambling business, rent and cost of electricity is frustrating them, many have already closed.

The moment he implements this gambling tax, so many physical shops will close because people will simply use online gambling sites that accept cryptocurrency.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Source of income diverses can inspire investors to expand their investment goals on: June 21, 2024, 06:09:00 PM
Noting that bitcoin enthusiasts who are interested to invest on bitcoin should have alternative source of income so that it can allow us maintain the architect on how we want to achieve our investment goals, It is very necessary to have review what the consequences will be if we lost that single alternative source of income.
And putting this fact into considerations could provide us an advancement to be committed in diverses which will give us profiting confidence to hold upon while we may not only reach our bitcoin investment goal but that we can do more better than earlier expected while holding our bitcoin assets.
From there we can expand on our bitcoin plans.
I don't think this idea of multiple sources of income have any advantages neither did I see any need laying too much emphasis on it. The most important thing is having enough money to the investment and still make the investor comfortable in his daily life. Most of the richest people in the world were known to make their money through a known single source of income before they later diversified into other areas when their money became big. Focusing on creating a reliable source of income will create mastery which is better than spreading ones meagre income into several ventures. Therefore, I am of the opinion that the focus should be on getting a standard source of fund that will sustain investment in BItcoin which can then act as diversification from the core business.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does mathematical calculations really work in lotto or is it just guess work? on: June 21, 2024, 02:46:44 PM
In my country I believe that there are more lotto shops and kiosks than sports bet shops, most Nigerians will be familiar with the popular Baba Ijebu lotto. If you come closer to any of these lotto shops and kiosks, you will notice gamblers of all ages, young and old busy calculating and coming up with probable combinations of numbers that can win. I notice that experienced forecasters and even scammers sells "sure numbers" and other gamblers will pay money to buy these numbers. Some times they win or one number or arrangements can spoil their tickets

Do you think that people can calculate and predict the numbers that machines draw or they're just guessing and picking random number combinations?
As far as I'm concerned, lotto is a guess work and depend entirely on luck but somehow, I have see a couple of friends who claimed that they had won lotto through a sequence they developed by themselves. One told me he has a special session he play certain numbers based on his sequence and his win rate have been fantastic.  Nevertheless, I have tried it myself and saw nothing sequential about lotto, so I will not allow anyone convince me otherwise because I truly believe it is entirely a game of chance.
