1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Another reason am chosing bitcoin. on: July 31, 2024, 08:50:41 PM
Something happened today which makes my choice of bitcoin more stronger than the centralized fiat and traditional banking system.

I transferred some amount of cash to someone to get me a few items I would be needing for my project at hand, a day after I received a call from the him that his account has been freezed due to the amount received into the account that the bank told him it was above the account grade and he has to come with some required documents for the upgrade to a higher tier and this has to shift my schedule I have arranged for my project to a day further.

While I was with a feeling of  disappointed I recalled I have been stacking a few unit's of bitcoin in my wallet and have never experienced this crazy shit neither have I heard any bitcoiner make such a lousy complain about bitcoin whatever the amount of bitcoin transfered into their wallet. I don't think there's anyway the fiat system can be compared to bitcoin, the more experiences I encounter the more I see how advanced and greater purposes bitcoin serves.

2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Income statement: can it be used to mitigate huge losses due to addiction. on: July 14, 2024, 02:06:01 PM
Don't you all think that if gambling sites are charged by the authority to through KYC verification requirements call for income statement of every gambler to set a percentage limit to how much money as maximum amount they can deposit either in a day, week or month for gambling.

I understand some of us hate KYC but Can this help eradicate gambling addiction if gambling companies consciously swing into it.
Honestly it can be very helpful because it lessens the chances of a gambler losing money he or she does not have. However I believe both the gamblers and the casinos would not be too in favor of this policy.

Any gambling addict will not be deterred but instead will look for other ways so they can continue gambling. As for casinos, they want to be able to make as much money as possible and doing this would not give them that.
Like you read my mind on this that made me to use the word consciously in my op about gambling companies taking it into action even after knowing it will affect their profit rate with the implementation. Casinos shouldn't focus only on how they maximize profits from gamblers with the exponential growth of gambling addicts it's high time they also demonstrate they care about their customers' and not only by the statements they flag on their platform about gambling responsibly. They should also play a supportive role in gambler's gambling responsibly.
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: July 14, 2024, 01:52:15 PM
Suggestive that the joy and motivation in the push ups may have been embedded strictly on the price of BTC going upwards only instead of taking account into the benefits of exercise to the body system too. Similar with how  we experience weak hands in bitcoin accumulation. Making a different table for the active and non-active members can be considered.

The more that I think about this idea of active versus inactive (in terms of pushups) the more that I am thinking that any separation (if we decide that it would be a good idea and/or something that tweaks DirtyKeyboard's interests in doing such a thing) would be to still keep them showing up in the same table, but just having a separation in the table that gives a bit of a priority to active (however "we" in this thread might come to define such a thing?  that is if we can come to some kind of agreement, consensus or at least lack of disconsensus (if that's a word?)).
Its all a good idea in a way, if the train must keep moving then priority in any form to active pushers should be made, it will encourage existing active participants to keep consistency with their push ups to have their name listed in the table of active participants, and to whoever is compiling the list it will also reduce burden for the person as he or she would be focused on the active's rather than a mixer. Assuming a consensus is to be taken it's still active participants that will be involved in the consensus. What do you think would be their decision?
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Income statement: can it be used to mitigate huge losses due to addiction. on: July 14, 2024, 12:53:37 PM
Reflecting on income statement I thought about it how it can be used by gambling companies to deter the growing rate of gambling addiction among online gamblers which has led to massive wreckless loss.

5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: July 10, 2024, 03:56:13 PM
We must have experience in any subject before giving advice.
You are right I agree with you. Before giving advice to someone else he needs to gain experience in the matter. If a person is not experienced enough about bitcoin, he cannot answer your question. Because if an experienced person answers someone's question by answering their question, you will understand how experienced he is. An experienced person's post will always be very positive. Questions cannot be answered well by hearing from others. But experience is very important in bitcoin investment If we want to invest in bitcoin we must gain experience. Sometimes due to our lack of experience we may not earn enough profit in Bitcoin. And before investing in Bitcoin, you must know yourself well about Bitcoin. Slowly we will become more experienced in Bitcoin. But no one can gain experience in Bitcoin from scratch.  At first he invested in Bitcoin as a newbie and slowly through his knowledge and skills he became very experienced in Bitcoin. But the Bitcoin market is very volatile. So in case of bitcoin investment we must be careful enough then we have to invest. In this way if we can invest in bitcoin we can definitely achieve a lot of success.
Gaining experience about bitcoin investment and learning about bitcoin is a two different things in my opinion. Learning comes before experience. You have to learn about bitcoin before start off in it either through investment or trading to get an experience of it through those use. You gain experience about anything order than bitcoin by participation in activity of it. Experience is gotten from the practicing of that which we have learned.

Teachers  teaching in an institution don't teach out of experience but out of what they have learned and understood.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1296 Pushups Reported for the 2024-07-08 UTC Pushup Report on: July 10, 2024, 03:41:19 PM
I know that you had been wanting to figure out some kinds of reasonable sorting criteria, and I am wonder if you ever had sorted the pushers in the table in accordance with their latest report date, and from my own point of view, there may be some importance in terms of the report dates and in terms of clearly seeing which pushers are regularly reporting their pushup reports and which members might be lagging in those regards.

Personally, I have been doing my pushups every day and writing them down in my own log, while at the same time, reporting my pushups in the form of a pushup report every few days and surely every once in a while I let the submission of my report go a wee bit longer, yet we may well get some senses that some members (pushers) might have had stopped doing their pushups on a daily basis (even though daily pushups are not really required, but surely there are likely going to be benefits when members are keeping up with their pushups regularly rather than infrequently, just like accumulating bitcoin has those similar kinds of consistency benefits in the earliest years of BTC accumulation), yet surely in regards to potential pushup drop outs, I stick to my earlier stated position that if members had previously submitted their pushup reports then they should not be removed from the pushup table even if they might not have had continued submitting reports at any recent time and presumptively there may be a decent number of members who had stopped submitting reports, then they may well have had discontinued with their daily (or regular) pushups, too.
Presumably, their lagging behind could be connected to the fall with bitcoin price in the past weeks causing a discouragement. Am just saying!

7  Economy / Gambling / Re: Withdraw your funds now on Maverick Games on: July 10, 2024, 03:20:08 PM
Such a way to give value to their customers with a sufficient prior notice  not rug pulling with their money as they are about to wind down business. Very disturbing how on one hand this development would be sending all their workers back into the labour market to add to the timid number there. Scary economical times we living.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Won $4 Million and Died… on: June 26, 2024, 08:37:25 AM
I didn't find this news here, which is now being actively published on social networks, but it can be discussed.
The news is that a man in Singapore won a four-million-dollar jackpot and suffered a heart attack after learning of the win.

More details: https://www.ibtimes.sg/singapore-casino-tragedy-viral-video-shows-mans-collapse-after-4-million-jackpot-75035

Sometimes joyful events end sadly. A person who learns the news experiences stress, which causes a strong heartbeat; and adrenaline levels to increase; and if the winner’s health is not very good, misfortune can happen, as happened with the player from Singapore.
Have you ever had a time when winning a large sum caused inconvenience and did not bring you the joy you expected?
It begs the question of what do gamblers really want? They lost huge money to gamble they lose their life, they win huge money from gamble they still lose their life.

Thinking outside the box. Can't it be that the man was battling with a high blood pressure problem that he got the shock of his life after learning he has won such huge money worth $4 million and his heart couldn't contain the shock from the good news which has now turned to a bad news.

Is it okay if we say he died a rich man Huh
9  Economy / Speculation / Re: Today more BTC were sold than MtGox will pay out in July ... on: June 25, 2024, 12:37:57 PM
Can't say much but it should be a simple maths to digest in, that a single entity in the person of Mt Gox can't bring a strong fall against the resilience of bitcoin long term hodlers.  Bitcoin is too large for a one single fellow to shake the chain. Maybe small weak hands may wither learning about what July holds about the Mt Gox BTCsale but it's all a distraction towards the bull run.
10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 25, 2024, 12:12:13 PM

The dip causing a lot of distraction here and there. There's no better way than staying focused on the bigger picture ahead and, eventually it's going to worth the hodl.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Moneyflow towards the Dollar on: June 17, 2024, 03:22:03 PM
whether those who are in stand with the US $  against the BRICS corporation in opposition to dollarization agrees or disagrees with any significant level of effect and potential effects the corporation has had on the dollar in the past one year, the truth remains that the BRICS agenda has made the US sleepless with their economic hold on the global South now under threat.
Headlines are often misleading.
In all essence, both the headlines in favour of the BRICS and the US are often misleading headlines? Is that what you are implying?

Or conceivably, you narrowing it to the BRICS headlines alone?
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EEMERGENCY: in mempool congestion period on: June 17, 2024, 02:28:00 PM
The heart of the lengthy story which I am moved to share is that we should not leave to have some amount of coins in our CEX for quick sell, despite their disadvantageous side, they can actually come in handy in emergency time when there's a mempool congestion like we are experiencing right now. However, make sure what you keeping it's an amount of coins you can literally lose should the unimaginable happen.
It is not a good idea to leave coins in an exchange, but since you said that let it be an amount that you can afford to lose. That amount helped you save someone. However, instead of keeping your emergency funds in bitcoin, why don't you keep it in fiat where you will have easy access to reach and it will be more safer with the bank than with exchange. What if bitcoin price experience a heavy dip and the amount in the exchange depreciates below the amount that you bought, you will run at loss if you use it for emergency at that moment. It is good to keep your emergency funds in fiat at not in bitcoin. Bitcoin should be for long term hodli.
Not an emergency funds I was hitting on, maybe you didn't read my post well to have misunderstood my position. Bitcoin dipping shouldn't be a thing of worry for acknowledgeable bitcoinists because bitcoin unlike shitcoins will always rise back in price. Bank or exchange what difference does it makes considering that both entities are centralized.

To which do you prefer? That I leave money in bank with how inflation is at the increase or that I leave it in bitcoin in an exchange (since it's with an amount that I can lose).
13  Economy / Economics / Re: Moneyflow towards the Dollar on: June 17, 2024, 02:00:09 PM

Who is taking BRICS "as an instrument, like the euro"? Everybody knows that BRICS is a political union.

You just need to read the comments about Saudi Arabia ditching the Dollar and you know who does.
There are plenty of writers here on bitcointalk who believe that ditching the dollar will be done by BRICS. Not realizing that the private sector is the one who rules capital flows.

whether those who are in stand with the US $  against the BRICS corporation in opposition to dollarization agrees or disagrees with any significant level of effect and potential effects the corporation has had on the dollar in the past one year, the truth remains that the BRICS agenda has made the US sleepless with their economic hold on the global South now under threat. Let no pretend that the BRICS is not is metamorphosing into a large bloc as time flips. Which is why who ever believes that the BRICS could ditch the dollar is not wrong, logically.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / EEMERGENCY: in mempool congestion period on: June 15, 2024, 12:19:06 PM
I've read online in different platforms much about the disadvantages of exchanges and how having your coins saved in there isn't that safe to undertake. And I fraternize with those reasons which am not mistaken that the forum members are all aware of, except for some petty co-newbies.

But something happened yesterday, a sibling's wife was in labour due for delivery but out of certain complications the doctor booked her for a cesarean section for which he was asked to give part payment (an occurrence he never budgeted for). I got a call from him, he explained the situation to me and that what he has wasn't sufficient for the payment and he's sorting for my assistance.  On my end I just had a business expenses two day back that had left my bank account with nothing.

Quickly I decided to transfer a  negligible amount of coins from my self-custodial wallet to an exchange wallet to sell since it was an emergency matter of life. While on the process to do that I now remembered that there's a current congestion in mempool which has left people's transactions delayed for hours and for  some persons it's getting to days. What I did was to visit all of the exchanges account I have to see what's left there. To my amazement the little coins left there were able to amount to something after respective p2p trades.  And that was how I was able to come through for in assistance.

So exciting to know my first bitcoin halving I will be experiencing as a bitcoin holder is in 10 days from today reading the counting down. The feeling is different when you're a partaker to the event to when you're merely a spectator. 150$ to 200$+ is where my expectations are projected at, it's achievable.
16  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: April 09, 2024, 12:17:26 PM
Seeing this thread for the first time I love to participate in the challenge. I may not be pushing up close to a 100 as am not that strong to get to that number. I'll start by keeping track of 20 push ups a day, if I make progress on each day push 50 might be the next target  I don't know about a 100 right now that can't be possible for me and my size and importantly, my strength.

This can be a part to keeping my body in shape as per exercise, I know it won't be that simple to carry out but never say never.
17  Other / Off-topic / What do you suggest... on: April 08, 2024, 12:56:45 PM
The  recently days hasn't been a cool one for me adding to how usually choked my daily schedules are, am having a real time challenge contemplating forth and back on what choice to make. Am an industrious woman with different income streams, among others is that am also an employee in a private company. I have this car I gave out for a transportation business as a taxi to a driver whom I contracted with to remit an agreed cash amount each weekend. This has been going on smoothly as I can recall, it's been fetching me profits with the car in good shape for the past years.

Painfully for months now the car has been developing series of faults and it hasn't been rosy anymore with profit no more getting in as it were. Having spent much money fixing different faults with lesser gains due to resurgent repair faults developing again and again. I have been reflecting seriously on selling off the car use the money to add to my bitcoin investment portfolio as the repeated repairs has left me with no choice despite how the transport business has been profitable before now. I feel as though am impatient with the whole bearings. I need your suggestions, is it necessary I sell  the car to add the money to my portfolio  when currently I do have a fine amount of portfolio with my bitcoin investment. As a business woman am worried cutting one of my scattered source of getting money by selling off the car.
please help with your thoughts.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be careful about some messages to your DM on: April 08, 2024, 12:34:50 PM
I believe some members are already knowledgeable about such but also I still believe that some aren't. The forum is a big place and any big platform that discusses crypto-currency is always a target for scammers.

The forum has done so much to frustrate those fraudsters and I think it should be commended although this scammers are dogged with their actions. They do send messages to your DM with all sort of crazy format.

I have gotten some recently and I would be posting although I have edited the link so it won't be clickable.

Quote
Greetings mate
Judging by your merits and answers on the forum, you are an experienced user of cryptocurrencies
The fact is that a few months ago i was hired as a cryptocurrency consultant and journalist at a well-known cryptopotato
At the moment i am writing articles on the topic "Development of cryptocurrency in the current world order"
I can only get true and comprehensive knowledge from the members of this forum
This is not spam, scam or a prank
I collect statistics for some articles
If the article will be popular,i will share part of my profit with you
To be honest,i'm afraid to create a topic, because now, under the new rules, the merits of the account can be removed Cheesy
I'd be glad to talk to you

-Regards

I haven't checked the authenticity of this message but it already spells scam. I won't even want to find out if I am wrong or right on that.

Be careful about such newbies, they come with all these enticing stories all to draw you in and then telling you how it's not a scam. In your best interest it best not to find out so don't even click the link. I would find better ways to protect my DM from such in the future.

The scammer claim to have been recruited by the cryptopotatio as a cryptocurrency consultant and he has no true and comprehensive knowledge of cryptocurrencies. This is very laughable.

How do you get a crypto job without having knowledge about it. Who hires a dummy in an area of interest?

t's obvious it's a scam technique and he has to take it to the wrong person. It it was to be a newbie receiving this DM chances are that he would have fallen for it. Great to know about this that it doesn't matter the rank from whom a DM is coming from in the forum don't take it as genuine until proven true.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A curious Newbie!! on: March 20, 2024, 05:06:58 PM
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie with crypto knowledge though. I'm here to network. I see some beautiful profiles with lots of merits and I'm interested in being like that someday. How can that be achieved? Is it like a gift or something.. pls help 😎
Welcome to the forum, the merits can be earned when you make good posts and others find those posts helpful. Let's say if a member has 4 sMerits and he/she likes one of your posts then he/she can send you from 1 merit to 4 merits. If that person sends you 2 merits then you will earn 1 sMerit which you can send to someone whose post you like.

I hope now its clear to you that how those profiles have got those merits. In order to get merits you should try to make good and valuable posts and be active on the forum. Some people get good number of merits from their local boards, if you speak a language and there's a local board of that language then try to make some posts in your language on that local board on daily basis to earn some merits for your contribution in that local board.

I believe if you follow those steps then you will start getting some merits.

Thank you. Understood...Would you be kind to give me some merit as a welcome bonus? Ahaha. Appreciate it 😆
From your first post that started this discussion you claim to know a bit about cryptocurrency and that's an advantage for you unlike some newbies among us that don't have any first hand knowledge about cryptocurrency but are just starting off from the forum. I'll say you take that advantage you have to create good quality post as told by the user SamReomo you will be be worthy of receiving merits from not just him but from other members fascinated by the quality of your posts. With time we will get up the ranks too.
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Success is a meaningless word without failure. on: March 20, 2024, 04:49:56 PM
In any success story their must be tales of failure within it . Most great people people in the world didn't become successful in a day most have to go through difficult parts before coming out successful .The Funny part is that many can withstand failures along the way and they still expect success in a haste how can that be ever possible.
Many successful business owners we know about their companies today still waxing strong had to build their success on countless times of failures they had to encounter from the onset of their start up even in their present but the whole difference of the failures of yesterday and that of today for them is that they had from wealth of experience understands how to minimize causes of failure and increase routes to more successes in their life.

As a trader failures shouldn't be a problem you should be afraid of but it's should be something you have to embrace because the more failure you encounter the more your experiences is broadening and the failures and lessing as you're using those past experiences to prevent make sure failures you had encountered before don't repeat.
