2  Economy / Exchanges / Kraken - $3 million stolen on: June 19, 2024, 05:04:55 PM
A recent UX change in Kraken seem to have opened a flaw that was misused to steal $3 million worth of crypto form Kraken exchange. Apparently a security tester first withdrew $3 million, let Kraken know about the bug and asked the withdrawn money as reward. Kraken seem to have consulted the authorities and a legal criminal investigation is underway. I highly doubt they'll be able to get anything.
$3 million is not a huge amount but at the current time of uncertainty, could be another reason for market to decrease. What are your thoughts on it.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Celeb Coin Will lead to massive crypto adoption. on: June 19, 2024, 03:43:56 PM
This is a recent development in crypto where celebrities are now launching coins. I have been reading many threads on what could be its effects but I personally have mixed feelings.

1. Celebrities have large followers. Their coins could introduce their fans to web 3 and crypto.
2. They are using it to exploit people. Some of their tokens have pumped and dumped within 24 hours of launching. This could affect crypto negatively.
3. Most celebrities launch meme coins? Why cant they launch a project that has utilities.

What do you think could be the short term and long term effects of the celeb trend?

The thing you pointed out are correct. Celebrities are introducing their fans to the crypto but most time that ends in a disastrous scam.
Crypto is already a popular topic in normal conversation and a good part of it is due to the Celebrity endorsement. Many of them did it for monetarily gain and some of them turned out to be a scam but with ups and downs, people are getting known to crypto. When people know there are bad things in crypto, they also look at the things that are good and that does take their attention. Overall we can say such endorsement tarnishes the fame of the celebrity more than it hurts crypto as a whole.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what are you Holding for the bull market on: June 19, 2024, 03:26:06 PM
It's said often that holding is the best when it comes to planning for the future. Investors are focusing on projects with strong fundamentals, real-world use cases, and active development teams. Conducting thorough research daily just to arrive at a good project worth holding.

However, I'm sure different investors adopt different approach and what they have in their bags are certainly different.

Would you like to share some insight and tips to help other investors? I'm sure it would be appreciated

I was frustrated from the last price crash that I sold the remaining coins to USD and am staking it to earn some interest. The largest value of coin I still hold is of bitcoins.
Of the remaining, I hold mostly memecoins, a little bit of shiba Inu, pepe, bonk, bome, dofwifhat and some others. Solana comes next, I still have a good amount of Solana.
The next coin I hold is Ethereum, I bought it with expectation of rise after the SEC approval for ETF but it's not doing great. I do plan to get some other coins as the market stabilizes or goes on an increasing trend.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How it everyone feeling during this altcoin crash? on: June 18, 2024, 02:30:32 PM
I'm just fed up with crypto investment. I'd have been better if I have kept some of it in USDT but I kept all of them in meme coins and now I have my portfolio decreased by half respective to USD. There was a general perspective that sooner or later crypto would keep on increasing and giving us profit. But the golden age of crypto seems to be ended. Though bitcoin and some coins recently achieved their new time high but it was not much different from the last time and the price momentum has failed to sustain. With too much uncertainity in economy and politics, I don't see the price going up anytime soon. I'd rather wait and look for another dip before buying them again.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forget Bitcoin - Memecoins Like Pepe, FLOKI and Bonk Are the Big Gainers Now on: June 02, 2024, 11:45:44 PM
What you say is true, currently memecoins such as PEPE, FLOKI and BONK are trending and can give you big profits, but you need to know that memecoins will not last forever, in fact the risk of memecoins is also very high, therefore never forget about Bitcoin, even though the profits are not too big, it doesn't worry you too much, and Bitcoin can be used as a very reliable long-term investment in the crypto world.

Nothing lasts forever. Bitcoin may outlive most of altcoins we know now but memecoins to have already outlived many so called promising altcoins. Dogecoin is here since more than a decade, Shiba Inu is here for more than 3 years and is still going strong pushing other altcoins out of frame. We only have seen rise on these popular memecoins like PEPE, FLOKI, BONK, etc. so there would be a place where it stops but before that, the investors would have earned x10 or x20 times of their investment. Which is not possible with bitcoin.
Memecoins might not be good for very long term investment but they give you good profit in short period of time.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana price predictions and developement? on: June 01, 2024, 11:35:44 PM
Very ready, I say that because I see that the Solana network is still doing well even though meme coin transactions on the Solana network have increased drastically. Talking about the price of Solana, I am very satisfied with the increase in the price of Solana in the last few months because the price of Solana has increased drastically and now Solana is ranked 5th in CMC. and the increase in the price of Solana is causing the moment several years ago to repeat itself, namely Solana and BNB competing for position 4.

Yes the price of Solana has increased in the past but the price rise has been halted for now. There has been less momentum over all the crypto but there's no reason for Solana to decrease. Solana has a better prospects in the near term. The rise in meme coins would increase the demand for Solana as gas and as base currency for investment and trade. They have a good chance of being the next coin to be accepted as ETF. This dip could be the best time to accumulate some Solana as it's not coming down after it crosses the $200 resistance.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: JASMY - worth investing? on: May 31, 2024, 03:23:17 PM
I too just saw Jasmy a few days ago. It already seem to be listed on top exchanges and it was one of the most traded coins so I had a look.
They see to be a real utility coin based in Japan that aims at creating and managing IOT devices. They appear to be legally registered in Japan that may have made people believe it would be a safe thing to invest into. The whitepaper is in japanese and most of their social media posts are in Japanese. They seem to have a focus inside Japan.
As for investment, they have rose huge in last week and there would surely be a correction. It would be wiser to wait for a price decrease as the current price feels overvalued.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Biggest problem is that stablecoins usdt and usdc only few blockchains on: May 30, 2024, 10:51:40 PM
USDT and USDC are available in almost all networks. You can bridge them easily among different networks or exchange it from the gas token.
If you are talking about the withdraw from centralized exchanges, the options can be limited considering the exchanges. The largest of all Binance can probably is capable of having 100s of withdrawal option for several networks for USDT but they just have 15. That's still better than many other exchanges as these exchanges prefers some network than other and boycott some. Having too many options can also be overwhelming for users. The fees can be higher or lower depending on the network used.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Exchange tokens or Crypto Wallet Tokens?? on: May 30, 2024, 04:08:26 PM
I guess crypto exchange tokens in general would be more successful as they can have more utility as crypto exchanges provides various services and in high volume. Wallets are specially for receiving, storing and sending money, there's not much money making or utility there except occasional swap which also is used by smaller number of users.
Exchanges provides more options not just limited to spot exchanges. There can be out of box utility on different exchange tokens or wallet tokens that may also classify them as something different.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: space themed memes gaining more ground.. on: May 30, 2024, 03:06:00 PM
I think the community support for these space themed memecoins are appealing in part because, the fact that they are already in space gives the sense that they are going to take off and get some mad Xx%...

This, coupled with SpaceX launch is sort of a good timing for meme coins like FELIX I suppose

That was my first thoughts. Space is a theme with many fans and enthusiast and I find it surprising why there are none as popular. I guess they'll have their time specially when the space race becomes more result oriented. I believe we'd have at least a permanent base on moon and mars in next 50 years, within most of our lifetime. A moonbase might happen in next 20 years.
SpaceX would be a leading force on new space exploration and Elon Musk could also announce a coin to fund or work as currency in mars. Whether it is realized in real life or not.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kabosu (Doge) passed away. on: May 29, 2024, 11:29:01 PM
Kabosu surely is the most famous dog even though people might not realize its name when they see it. It's sad to hear the dog is dead but it lived its life to the fullest and died of old age. The photo of this particular dog was a huge meme even before the launch of dogecoin. In 2020, the photo of Kabosu was popular meme with the word DOGE which inspired the creators of Dogecoin who took both the picture as logo and the word Doge as name for the first memecoin. The success of Dogecoin led to the creation of other Dog based meme coins some of which kept using Kabosu in their logo.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Meme Coins Resembling Lotteries in the Crypto Space on: May 29, 2024, 03:14:31 PM
Meme coins thrive on speculation and hype, their prices are driven more by sentiment and social media trends than by fundamental value.
I've been reflecting on my approach to meme coins, and it's become clear to me that their hype-driven nature has become my guiding principle. Essentially, it's become a case of "follow the money" - whichever coin has the biggest marketing budget, that's the one I invest in, aiming for quick gains. It's a rather blunt strategy, but it's yielded results.

It's a lottery if you are buying them all and only a few of it meets up the hype. But if you know what you are looking for and can predict through analysis, you can get a x2 coin more than half of the time and those coins sometimes even goes x5 or x10s. Marketing budget surely can be a thing with more hype created around a coin, more people are going to buy it. Other major thing to consider are its trading volume and low resistance. When you buy a meme coin with good trading value at its lower resistance, you won't regret. The same is true for other coins but all they do is 15 to 30% but with memecoins, it's an easy x2.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How are your meme bags doing? on: May 29, 2024, 01:56:04 AM
They are doing great thank you. I had been the one that was suspicious about meme coin and dismissed them and recommended against investing on them for years but from last 6 months, I had a change in mind after I realized meme coins are doing better and better and I was the one who's left behind. So, I started with the top coins Shiba Inu, made good profit on it and sold it to buy PEPE, I used my own money to buy BOME. Just sold PEPE for a good profit (20%) a couple of days ago and bought Bonk. BOME is doing really good for me (50%+) so I'm selling it on batches. BOME had been my largest meme investment and still is. I have started taking profits but don't plan to sell it all at once. Bonk too has been doing good, a 12% rise since I bought, I might start taking profit there too.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Forget Bitcoin - Memecoins Like Pepe, FLOKI and Bonk Are the Big Gainers Now on: May 28, 2024, 10:35:05 AM
PEPE coin investors had extraordinary luck a few months ago. Those who bought it at a cheap price had fantastic profits. This year there has been a lot of focus on meme coins so we forgot about bitcoin which reached a new ATH, remember that every investment in meme tokens does not always make a profit but has a greater risk than investing in bitcoin and ALT.

I too was one of the investors that bought PEPE at around $0.00001, I knew it is going to be a huge coin soon as there were too much accumulation occurring on this particular coin with its Trading volume being in top 10 among crypto while the coin itself is much lower in total market cap. I was a bit early in selling though, I sold all of it by the time it reached $0.000015, it was about a 50% profit but it went on rising to $0.000017 and currently trading a bit lower than that. The profit I earned from PEPE were invested on BOME, another meme coin that is being accumulated hugely on comparison to it's lower total marketcap. I already have a 20% profit on Bome but am planning to hold it rather longer to double it.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are your holdings ready for this altcoinseason? on: May 28, 2024, 10:03:59 AM
I'm readying myself for the bull run. I have over 3K USD worth of money on different crypto, most of them memecoins. For last few days they have already increased a lot and I'm hoping to cash out on them soon. I won't get greedy as the bull this time might not be as potent as last ones and it's a pipe dream for bitcoin or Ethereum to double. I plan to at least make that 3K investment to 5K. My largest investment at the moment is Ethereum followed by Bome and I've as well started participating in presales as when bull arrives, the newly listed coins have the highest rise.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Something feels off about Kaspa on: May 28, 2024, 09:00:45 AM
I read their whitepaper they want to be as similar to bitcoin but be cheap. They consider themselves the coin that can fulfill the vision of satoshi as a decentralized electronic payment. Bitcoin due to its limited quantity has rose through speculation. Kaspa wants to be a daily useable merchant coin. Kaspa in some language means Silver, they want to be the silver of crypto industry where bitcoin is the gold. But there are already a multiple of mineable coins that claims to be silver or that wants to be a merchant coin, I don't see why kaspa would be a special one. POS coins are also proving themselves as safer as POW and they have no energy and hardware needs as POW coins have.
