102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is mining going to die? on: December 20, 2017, 12:04:53 AM
Looking at the top 10 coins, 5 out of 10 are not mineable.

New 3rd generation coins, like Cardano, is showing a trend.

Do you believe this is going to kill mining like we know it?

This is a honest question.
Mining will die eventually. Currently, it is the best way to secure a blockchain. PoS is catching up and improving but PoW completely discourages attacking the network.

Until there is a protocol that is as bulletproof as PoW, it is here to stay.

Cryptobridge's coin called BCO is a good choice. As supply decreases with coins being locked for staking, the price will rise. This is just price, not market cap. You should know that when you are trying to determine which project can make you the most profit, look at market cap first to see if it has room to grow. Price doesn't really matter when determining its ROI value, only market cap does.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Setting up my new RIG on: December 18, 2017, 11:47:24 AM
Hi, I am setting up a 6 nVidia GTX 1070 FE rig using GIGABYTE H110-D3A motherboard. I am slight unsure on which CPU to use. Is i3/5/6 CPU necessary or a Celeron will do aswell. Also about the RAM, will a 4GB DDR4 do? Thanks

I have an Intel Pentium G4400 CPU and 4GB of RAM will be fine. If you are GPU mining, you don't need a Ryzen level CPU. Just get a decent i5 or similar. The hardware that will be doing all the work is the GPU and the PSU. Don't cheap out on them if you want your equipment to last.

For motherboard, you just need a solid mobo that will support 6 GPUs without throwing up errors after you add the nth one to the board. Also, make sure you get a PSU that can support enough wattage. It is recommended that all of your hardware can be handled by 80% of the PSU's wattage capability to be most efficient.

Having same issues with QT wallet as described above. Please someone take a look at the windows wallet.

QT wallet was working fine with 3 peers...
Now chain has been stuck at 180470 for about 18 hours, explorer also stuck at 180470...
Tx hit wallet, but just languish in mempool and are not confirmed...  Huh

Explains the BCO sale on Nova.
Send a help ticket to support@crypto-bridge.org to see if they are working on this. Did you talk to the devs on Slack?

Got first staking reward, now I hold a lot of coins. Cheesy

Are there stats on this first distribution?
Last I heard was that around 5.34m BCO were staked with 53% staking for 12 months. Including bonuses, this comes out to around 8m-9m BCO. This was a few days ago, but with the increase in volume and users it could have gone up. We must also take into consideration when users started staking within the payout period and the rising volume. Because half the beginning of the payout period was of plow volume, the payout was lower. Now if we can hold on to this $0.5m volume for the next two weeks, we will be in for one hell of a profit share  Smiley

I got a lot of coins but don't now how much they worth all summed up, it would be nice to have that feature, total worth of portfolio in BTC.
In Cryptobridge, go to Settings>General>Preferred Unit of Account. Select bitBTC as the preferred unit of account. Then go to Account>Balances and look on the row that says Total (bitBTC). You will see your total portfolio value in bitBTC.

Couldn't log into my pool account. Locked it because of too many pin attempts. Never ever received the unlock mail but I did get the password reset mail so I tried something and it worked.
I edited the address and pasted my password reset token to <here> and it unlocked. Finally!!!! it seems the password reset and account unlock share the same token.
Example: https://pool.bridgecoin.org/index.php?page=account&action=unlock&token= <here>

But for some reason all my coins got withdrawn from the official pool to an address I can't even find this address on the explorer and there is no transaction hash or block height. Not saying they got stolen but they got transfered. But to where Huh This is not the address I signed up with. There had not been a log in since 30 November so I guess it had to be someone who operates the pool. From what it seems I have lost everything... Hoping for the dev to respond to my PM and hoping he can locate my coins. Undecided

Just read what happens if you send coins to a bogus address. They are not lost but the transactions is probably not processed due to a checksum. Since the withdrawal address seems bogus because I can't find it in the block explorer. Guess the coins still sit in the pool account but still got deducted from my balance.
Hey, I am sorry to hear about your situation. You should send a help email to support@crypto-bridge.org and one of the devs will help you out. They are very responsive to these types of situations.

Any UK users have got this and using the AMD VEGA cards?

Mind sharing the price and source to get them, I've been trying really hard to get the RX 580 from past 3 months but no luck, any help from UK users would be much appreciated.

Hope I get some answers, thanks.

I am a proud 16 GPU VEGA 64 LC user from London.
How were you able to get your hands on 16 Vega 64s!? I just recently put in a few back orders. Going to get 3 Vega 64's and 5 RX 570s. I just can't wait around any longer for them to become available. They're flying off the shelves as soon as they get there.

First, thank you @notsofast for putting me on to this project. With proper marketing and community support BCO DEX has potential to own > 2% of the market share.

Second, when you are staking and asked to confirm your transaction there is an option to 'Propose'. What is the purpose of this option?

Thanks
The "propose" feature is for multisig wallets. When you click it, you are proposing to your address's other owners to unlock and execute an action on that address. It isn't necessary unless you are operating a multisig wallet.

Thank you!
You're welcome.

112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alternatives to AMD Vega 64 on: December 14, 2017, 04:23:32 PM
Currently, AMD Vega 64's are a hot commodity. I cannot order or pre-order one on any legitimate website that I can find. I am in the market for this particular GPU because it has a lot of potential in terms of modding for the most power it can produce, and it is great for mining Cryptonight algo. I want to mine Monero on the majority of my GPU's, which is why I want this GPU.

I decided not to go with Nvidia GPU's for my first rig because I feel that AMD's have a broader range of capabilities in terms of algos and hashrate, although I know depending on the model they can be power hungry and very hot. I have decided not to pursue the Vega 64's for now because I cannot find them available, so my question is what is the best AMD alternative to the AMD Vega 64 for mining Monero and other popular Altcoin algos? If you have personal experience in this matter, or have heard things, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

This actually depends on what budget you got and preferences.
For GPU's, my budget is $500-$700/GPU. My plan is to work my way up to 5 GPU's on one AMD rig. Then later, I'll do 5 GPU's on one Nvidia GPU rig. Depending on pricing of Nvidia's when that time comes, my budget would range from $600-$800.

Hey everyone !

I'm facing a problem with a, ASUS Z270-P mobo, and a SAPPHIRE VEGA 64 graphic card. I've been following closely this tutorial : http://vega.miningguides.com/ and yet, after 2 days of countless installs, BIOS settings, DDU abusing, I just can't get it working. Like not even got close to it.

I read somewhere that these particular mobos are pretty difficult to get running. I've only used H81, so far, and as all seems to point to this very part of the machine, I was wondering if anyone had troubles with it, and could share his experience [and eventually the solution]

+ Mobo BIOS up-to-date [but read somewhere, once, it had to be downgraded to earlier versions]

+ BIOS Setup :

-----DMI Max Link Speed -> Gen2/Gen3
-----PCIEX16_1 link speed -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----PCI Express Configuration -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----Enabled(above 4G)

+ Fresh W10 install [UEFI]

+ Blockchain driver - Inevitably fails with BSOD atikmpag.sys issue [both W7 and W10] before finishing

Any help ?

Please send me your card. I will take a look at it.
That's a good one!
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum computer will kill bitcoin on: December 12, 2017, 02:03:03 PM
Why the fuck would someone "drive up the markets to short them" if they can crack the passwords to btc acc with their super computer? It's like the worst plan ever.

Just take the money from everyone's accounts? This would include all accounts, including fiat bank accounts.........
What if cryptocurrency is mainstream is and is a significant portion of the world economy's value. Then a hostile power decides to crash that sector of the economy by breaking into every account that holds cryptocurrency. The world may lose faith in cryptocurrency and abandon it. People will have lost their savings because the Cryptocurrency community wasn't prepared for Quantum Computing, which may be ready in as little 10 years!
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QRL - Announcing the Quantum Resistant Ledger on: December 12, 2017, 01:20:41 PM
When I listen to quantum, I remember some movies and this makes me very scared to read more about the project, I hope that my fear is only in the movie.  Grin Grin
It is a legitimate threat. Once it is operational, there is no telling what the repercussions will be. Imagine a hostile power had access to Quantum computing. What is to stop them from breaking into remote networks, breaking almost every known cryptographic algorithm that is in use today. That is why this project is trying to thwart that threat, and create a secure currency for use in a Post-Quantum world.

119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRB] RaiBlocks Speculation Thread on: December 12, 2017, 03:04:28 AM
I saw it on the announcements thread a few months ago. I didn't think much of it because I was too busy looking for the flashy titles (I've learned a lot since then), then I read their whitepaper a few days ago. With the impending need for projects to be able to scale and cost little to nothing to move, this project checks all of those boxes. I am going to buy in but will wait a little while to see what happens in the market. My suggestion is to not wait too long to buy some because this project has the technical aspects and community backing to make it into the Top 10 of Coinmarketcap.

What's your problem man? You really need to watch your language.

Everyone must report the person bringing down this thread. It does not look good to new and existing investors.
