101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple (XRP) to the moon? on: January 11, 2018, 05:58:39 PM
I think the price of ripple will definitely increase in the first half of 2018, but I'm not sure how much this growth can be sustained. The backing of banks and major financial institutions is a double edged sword; it's giving people confidence but at the same time it might eventually scare people off as well, and may cause the price to eventually crash. But in the short term, it should definitely bring in money.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: altcoin bounty, is it a form of money laundering? on: January 06, 2018, 09:19:33 AM
Why would it be? By posting with signatures you are advertising for the ICO and the ICO owners are rewarding you for your efforts with the only currency they can pay you with, tokens of the ICO. Unless the ICO itself is scammy, or is being run by money launderers, altcoin bounties are not a form of money laundering.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing Entire Portfolio in Altcoins on: January 06, 2018, 08:59:52 AM
Well technically ethereum is still an altcoin so if you invest in ethereum it is still a safe investment. If you are talking about trying to catch the pumps of smaller altcoins, it is too risky in my opinion and may not lead to earnings all the time. Depends on how much risk you are willing to take, but it's not my cup of tea.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 10,000 TRX - What should I do? on: January 05, 2018, 09:08:10 PM
I would hold them if I were you. The price looks like it is going to continue to increase, so unless you need some money quick, I see no reason to sell. If you want to make moves, sell a small amount of it and invest in something else, but definitely hodl most of it.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Choosing bounty campaign on: January 05, 2018, 08:31:31 PM
Even among the bounty campaigns on this forum, some do not succeed and eventually do not pay any bounty. As such, you have to make sure that the ICO is legit before joining the bounty. Read their newspaper and try to determine whether the ICO is promising. Make sure that the dev team is active and are answering as many questions as possible. These are indicators that an ICO may eventually succeed.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Ethereum has a new level - more than $1000. on: January 05, 2018, 08:27:28 PM
It doesn't necessarily need to reach the level of bitcoin to be successful, at least not within this year. A steady increase throughout 2018 would be great in my opinion. I would be satisfied if the $4K level is reached this year.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Uh-oh. Ripple is not getting added to Coinbase anytime soon. on: January 05, 2018, 08:05:58 PM
There were big expectations that coinbase would add ripple, and I was certain that the price was going to increase very fast. Although it's falling now, it will eventually recover. If you want to make some quick returns, now might be a good time to buy.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top 3 CMC predictions ranking 2018 on: January 03, 2018, 07:44:23 PM
When you say ranking, do you mean it in terms of the price of one coin? If that's the case, I doubt ethereum is going to surpass bitcoin, if the price of bitcoin does not crash drastically for some reason. And for the third place I think I'd rather mention Litecoin instead of Ripple.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Verge pump only because of McAfee? on: January 03, 2018, 07:21:58 PM
I still don't believe that John McAfee is so powerful that one single tweet from him can trigger a chain reaction which is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He may claim to have information about cryptocurrencies, but most people don't agree with him, and those that believe him are not powerful enough to create a pump, in my opinion.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Security of XRP vs. BTC on: January 03, 2018, 07:14:28 PM
XRP (Ripple) has no mining. They made around 100 billion, of which they hold 60 billion, and are going to release them slowly. With bitcoin there is mining. So how does this affect the security of the system?

Also the private key/public address system of bitcoin is independent to the mining.

Serious responses only please.

Short story:

Bitcoin require a ton of electricity to run. The network consumes about Denmarks daily production just to run. The most crap security you will ever find.

Bitcoin can be destroyed with a 51% attack. All you need is 5 of the biggest mining pools tired of something and saying to hell with this and Bitcoin will go down.

Bitcoin have forked in to different Bitcoin coins because someone can break out and say no we are making our own rules.

Ripple will have nodes scattered across the entire world where nobody will own the majority and therefor its impossible to control or fork

You're talking like it's a breeze to control 51% of the bitcoin network. How do you plan to do that exactly?

All we need is 5 of the biggest mining pools to abandon bitcoin? If you can get any of the 5 biggest investors of anything to abandon that thing, it will fail. What you are saying is not only applicable to bitcoin.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone here still has some faith in XVGs? on: January 03, 2018, 07:09:40 PM
I still do. Although XVG has made some good money so far, I still have faith that it will make another push and we will break the $.30 barrier. I still believe in XVG because I think that alts that are serious about anonymity will have greater importance this year.
112  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin vs "Dot Com 'bubble'" on: January 03, 2018, 07:05:40 PM
Bitcoin itself is not like the dot com bubble, and cannot be. You can maybe compare ICOs to the dot com bubble, but I think even with ICOs we have reached a certain level of understanding where if an ICO doesn't offer anything new or doesn't look like it can be trusted, then most of the time it doesn't get funded and the ICO fails. So coins are not funded without purpose, and that's why the ICOs will not be like the dot com bubble.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] CREDITS - OFFICIAL BOUNTY THREAD [ICO Start - 1 Feb 2017] up to 2400ETH on: January 02, 2018, 08:26:06 PM
Dear bounty manager,

I just got promoted to member from jr. member and have updated my signature accordingly. Can you update my rank in the signature bounty spreadsheet as well?

Username coolcountry (line 133)

Thanks.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am at Cross roads... on: January 02, 2018, 08:08:52 PM
You are forgetting the golden rule: You never invest with borrowed money. This is incredibly dangerous and, sorry for being blunt but it's stupid as well. The cryptocurrency market is very volatile and prices swing like crazy, so you never know what will happen to your investment. Only invest the amount which wouldn't hurt you financially even if you lost all of it.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ICO die in 2018? on: January 01, 2018, 04:29:58 PM
ICOs have a long way to go yet, but they need to become more mature, and that takes some time. There were a lot of scammy ICOs last year, so tighter regulations are required to make sure that scammers can't run away with people's money. But ICOs most likely will continue to thrive in 2018.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's with all the noob fools ramping ripple the shit stain coin? on: January 01, 2018, 04:26:29 PM
You have to realize that most people do not care at all about where the market is going or what implications the features of a coin have. They only care about the price and whether they can make some quick money off of a coin. Since ripple is strong right now, people are getting on the bandwagon to make whatever money they can. It is not surprising at all, honestly.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin Cash Out? on: January 01, 2018, 04:23:03 PM
This is still a gray area from a regulation point of view in most countries, but independent of which country you live in, chances are, if you cash out such a huge amount, it's going to trigger some alarms somewhere. Trying to continuously cash out small amounts may be an option, but in the long run, this may look suspicious as well. The best bet would be to simply declare the income you make off of crypto and pay taxes. It will at least give you peace of mind.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple prices rise and the currency reaches the second place in the lists on: December 30, 2017, 01:51:27 PM
How high can the price go, though? I remember reading somewhere that the highest projected price for ripple was around the 3-4 dollar mark, and since the pump up to this level was pretty fast, I'm thinking the price will stabilize for now and do not continue to go up.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we stop promoting Ripple? on: December 30, 2017, 01:49:48 PM
I think people are not interested in the future of cryptocurrencies at all. The most important thing for almost all people is whether they are making money or not. And since ripple is the most profitable alt right now, people will promote it, regardless of the effects ripple may have on the crypto scene.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long term vs. Short term on: December 28, 2017, 06:20:33 PM
Holding is the better option, but not as long term as you would hold bitcoin. If you can buy some altcoins and forget about them, then great. If not, you can trade every now and then to adjust your portfolio, since altcoins generally have smaller transaction fees and the transactions are faster than bitcoin. But as a general rule, holding is better.
