101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 29, 2013, 11:02:27 PM
Did anyone make a note of the running processes on previous versions, done a top on 0.98 and see a process called monitordcdc.

Was that there before ?
Yes, that process was there before.

Hello all,
I was having problems with my Saturn where it would only run on 0.95 firmware.  0.96 and 0.97 would only start the first ASIC.

I contacted support and they asked that I apply 0.98 which came out today.  I did and the Saturn is humming along nicely.  cgminer is now 3.6.6 and extremely stable.  The Saturn has been running the same PID for cgminer for the last 2 hours, HW errors are down.

I am getting 209 Gh/s <avg> with a high of 224 for <5s>.  Slush's Pool was reporting 148 Gh/s and is not reporting 204 GH/s, and my estimated rewards went up 0.006 per block.  Very cool!

Cool!  Just don't forget to PM with addresses so I can pay you guys for your efforts.
103  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Lost wallet with virtual machine, have BTC address, can I recover coin? on: October 27, 2013, 11:18:16 PM
Any recommended hex editor for Windows?  I tried using Hex Editor Neo but it crashes when looking at snapshot files.
104  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Lost wallet with virtual machine, have BTC address, can I recover coin? on: October 27, 2013, 10:08:07 PM
6.59159344 BTC involved.  Yes, I am using Windows 7 64-bit and am using Virtualbox.  Each of the 'disks' is a single file and Virtualbox sees them as SATA drives.

I believe Python is already installed, if not, no big deal.  I can either install python or boot the computer with a LiveCD, I think I have Ubuntu 10.4 laying around here.

Sorry I did not find any 'binary file above'.
105  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Lost wallet with virtual machine, have BTC address, can I recover coin? on: October 27, 2013, 09:36:49 PM
You might be alright.  Just because the machine crashes doesn't mean that the virtual disk drive is lost.  Very frequently, you can still access that drive (i.e. make a new VM and add the VM disk of the old one to it).   As long as you didn't restore to before the wallet was made -- any version of the wallet is fine for recovering all the coins.  If you restored to before that point in time, you would probably be SoL.

If you can get access to the wallet file in any way, then you can copy it out and import it into another instance of Armory.  Let me know how it goes.
Yes, the VM was restored to a previous point.  Damn.  I do have the actual BTC address that was associated with the wallet.

Can I generate new keys from this address?
106  Bitcoin / Armory / Lost wallet with virtual machine, have BTC address, can I recover coin? on: October 27, 2013, 09:14:54 PM
I was using a virtual machine to run my Armory installation.  I created a new wallet, transferred funds, and then went back to an older image of the virtual machine.  The VM started crashing, etc.... I did not think the whole thing in advance.

Of course, I printed a paper copy.  But it was to a PDF file which was guess where, on the virtual machine.

I have the bitcoin address of the wallet but not any keys.  Can I recover these funds and if so how?

107  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: WeExchange on: October 27, 2013, 02:27:21 PM
I'm also a case with BTC withdrawals stuck in "processing" state for two days.
I have open ticket on WeExchange and with no response.  Sad
Likewise, although  my ticket has been open for four days.  Subsequent withdrawals have worked though.
108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KnCMiner Jupiter Miner First Impressions on: October 27, 2013, 02:20:39 AM
Has everyone looked at the file asic_test in the /config folder?

I have a Saturn delivered 10/25 and have not been able to run any version other than 0.95.  My file states:

ASIC board #0 has 4 DC/DC
Found a KnC miner with 192 cores
KnC ASICs: good cores: 143 from 192
KnC ASICs: good cores after re-test: 144 from 192
KnC ASICs: good cores after re-test: 144 from 192 Shocked
Good cores map:
 FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

LM75 error: Bad ID 0xFFFFFFFF
ASIC board #1 has 0 DC/DC
etc.............

Wondering if everyone's test file looks like this?

PS> Bertmod states I am only using 183 watts!

^^Note the text pertaining to entering into or SELLING positions.

Crap.  Missed the last little part.  So 'fire sale' or take my chances that the issuers will give me a decent price on Dec. 1
110  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Asset Exchange Marketplace + Rewritable Options Trading on: October 24, 2013, 10:13:22 PM
Question: I am a US citizen, etc.  I have sell orders created for a reasonable discount, not these 'fire sale' prices.  Will Bitfunder honor these sell orders after Nov. 1?

So if the sell orders execute on say Nov 15th, am I good or do I have to bite the bullet now and sell everything at 'fire sale' prices.  As I understood it, Dec 1st is the real 'drop dead' date and then it is between the issuer and I.

Thanks in advance.

Face value on CIPHERMINE.B1 is .01 BTC each - they can be redeemed for that with 3 months' notice (and you sacrifice all dividends for those 3 months).  After 1 year they can be redeemed at face without any notice needing to be given.
Well, let me know if you would like to sell some.  My dividends are going to Coinlenders at the moment, and I was buying CIPHERMINE at only a modest discount from face before.  I am looking for something I can hold for a couple of years.
112  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: October 23, 2013, 10:13:38 PM
So what is the 'face' on CIPHERMINE?  Although Kate missed the last dividend with her custom utility, I would be willing to trade CIPHERMINE for the next SELLING dividend or a month of MINING/PURCHASE dividends depending.

113  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] CIPHERMINE.B1 - a virtual corporate bond with a 22% fixed-fiat APR on: October 23, 2013, 10:00:58 PM
Does anyone know if dividends been paid last Sunday?
No, I did not get a dividend either.  Kate and company were supposed to be paying divs per a 'custom' utility but have not seen anything either.I stand corrected.  I received the dividend but it was hidden with a bunch of other 'traffic'.
114  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: October 22, 2013, 01:48:15 AM
This was a follow-up response, after I complained and made it clear I would post my experience.

"Thank you for the email. We have forwarded this to our development team. You will updated once the transaction has been completed."

I think Gox's goose is cooked just in time for the holiday season.
Sorry guys does anyone realize there is still a lawsuit pending against mtgox?  US customers are going to be hosed until this lawsuit is settled!
On or about March 20, 2013 MtGox sent an email to CoinLab which set forth a list of the states which had MtGox customers and the approximate percentage of U.S. customers located in each such state. Between approximately March 19, 2013 and April 20, 2013 MtGox personnel and CoinLab personnel had several oral and email communications in which MtGox sought todetermine if CoinLab was properly registered with FinCEN as a money transmitter and properly licensed as a money transmitter in those states in which MtGox customers were located. In such communications CoinLab personnel admitted that CoinLab was not registered with FinCEN as a MTB and that CoinLab had not been licensed as a MTB by any state. By the expiration of the Transition Period on March 22, 2013 CoinLab was not FinCEN registered as a money transmitter and was not licensed by any state to be a money transmitter. During these communications MtGox personnel made requests for a detailed and precise plan of how CoinLab would become compliant; in response CoinLab personnel repeatedly made vague statements, without a schedule, a deadline or a plan to finance the application process.
wow:
Notwithstanding that it was not compliant with applicable federal and state statutes and regulations, CoinLab nevertheless demanded that MtGox complete transfer of the customer accounts that were to be transferred under the Agreement. MtGox refused to do so because if CoinLab was not properly licensed or registered, CoinLab could be held in violation of federal and/or state laws, which could, among other things, prejudice customers.

So frankly, if you are in the US, don't waste your time!
115  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder][RTM] Rastamine - 22+ Th/s perpetual mining bond on: October 22, 2013, 01:21:35 AM
What's the plan for the bitfunder changes?
I agree.  Any plans to do any passthru funds?  I am a US citizen and am not very happy with Bitfunder right now.
116  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitfunder - no reason for a fire sale on: October 16, 2013, 10:32:32 AM
Well, look at that!  I was able to sell NEOBEE at 5% less than I paid for it.

Actually I do know what TAT.VM is and would actually like to keep it but have not heard of it being relocated.

And the 'fire sale' continues!
117  Economy / Securities / Re: Bitfunder - no reason for a fire sale on: October 15, 2013, 07:50:50 PM

Yap, it sucks for US people, but life goes on, shares are already gaining their value.
pedrog, Thank you for making my point.  After the panic selling is done, the values of the stock bounce back.  RTM, Cado.Avalon are almost back to where they were before the panic.

TAT.virtualmine is down about 60% in value.

To the guys that are saying I am pumping up the value just to inflate prices, you are entitled to your opinion, although you must be trolls.  I have been trading on the REAL stock market for over 2 decades!

I was just trying to point out to children that the 'smart money' has not left already.  The 'sky is falling' chickens have left, the rest of us that have been doing it for awhile actually BUY shares while the fire sale is happening and catch the profits on the rebound.  This works about 75% of the time.

When everyone was 'freaking out' two weeks ago, I bought 30BTC at $109 and sold them yesterday for $138!

Oh wait the 'SMART MONEY' must have sold their's at $109 also..... just like the idiot's that are selling their shares for 10% of what they paid for it.  (I love you guys!  I have made more money in the last decade on PANIC SELLING, that I have actually made on dividends, and price increases.)

I guess I have no idea what I am talking about though, I authored this post just so I can play 'pump and dump'!  Fucking Morons! Angry

118  Economy / Securities / Bitfunder - no reason for a fire sale on: October 15, 2013, 12:09:56 PM
I did not receive this notice in my email so I wanted to let the community know about it.

Supplemental Notice (October 11, 2013)

As of October 8, 2013, BitFunder is not assessing any new fees against any user BitFunder knows to be a U.S. person and whose account will be restricted in accordance with BitFunder's October 8, 2013 notice.

Users who are U.S. persons or users who fail for any reason to provide the information necessary to obtain "Verified" status are encouraged to transfer their shares from the BitFunder site to the respective issuer(s) no later than December 1, 2013.

As of December 2, 2013, BitFunder will initiate a transfer from the BitFunder site to the respective issuer(s) of any remaining shares held by any users that BitFunder knows to be U.S. persons or who did not obtain "Verified" status by December 1, 2013, and will provide the issuer(s) with the public bitcoin address associated with the user account. After transfer, each user will need to work with the issuer(s) with respect to the future treatment of the shares.

On December 2, 2013, all bitcoin balances in the accounts of users that BitFunder knows to be U.S. persons and users that did not obtain "Verified" status by December 1 will be transferred to their linked WeExchange accounts.

And from the original notice: Users will be able to withdraw holdings and Bitcoins from their BitFunder accounts before and after November 1, 2013.

I am a US citizen so... This new notice and the prior notice combined state that there is no reason to sell your shares at pennies on the dollar.  You have until December 1st to get this straightened out.

Subsequently, I have canceled all of my sell orders and changed them to a 5% or 10% discount.  So I added up the prices I paid for the stock, multiplied that price by .95 or .90, and set a new price.

In the meantime, until December 1, I am still collecting dividends and have the sell prices set.  If sales do not occur by Dec. 1, then I will have to work something out with the issuer.
119  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: October 15, 2013, 01:33:03 AM
That's pretty much how I see it. While nothing is guaranteed of course, on occasions I've felt like my position in DMS is the nearest thing there is to taking candy from a baby.
You said it Kitteh!!  My sweet tooth has been killing me lately.
120  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Deprived Mining Speculation (DMS) on: October 15, 2013, 12:52:53 AM
On a last note let me give a (probably irresponsible - but I've had few beers so who cares) teaser.
You handle your beer quite well!   Grin
Now I get the point.  Technically, Mining can never reach zero but at some point it will make sense to cancel it all and start from scratch.

With the ridiculous difficulty increases lately (30%+ 3 times a month), I have scrapped any plans to buy mining hardware.  I don't have $100K to make it economically profitable, and then have it drop dead quickly.
