101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][SBC] StableCoin ¦¦ A new breed of cryptocurrency ¦¦ v1.2 RELEASED on: June 17, 2013, 12:31:08 AM
Excellent! Can we please have an ETA on the store or are you waiting for an exchange to pick it up first? It would help the coin at this point to launch the store regardless Smiley
Store should be ready ~2 weeks after an exchange picks SBC up. Economics 101 tells us we can't launch the store until that happens.

104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StableCoin Shop - Amazon.com and Steam Integration on: June 15, 2013, 11:42:56 PM
Services like these add value to the coin. If you recall, the catalyst for LTC surpassing $2 was caused by Atlantis. Having a single gateway where people can convert their SBC into something more tangible is inherently valuable. Instead of doing all the currency conversions you've mentioned, SBC holders can simply go through our site, which not only cuts down on fees, but is faster, easier, and more convenient.

As far as expenses go, we expect to (initially, at least) lose money from this operation. A portion of SBC received will be kept, the rest will be sold off to continue to fund operations. The goal, of course, is to develop the coin to the point where our initial losses are recovered by the SBC we keep appreciating in value. In regards to the volume, we will be using a conversion formula that accounts for key market variables (the specifics of which we will not release, as to deter gaming the system).

I appreciate the constructive post; there has been a lot of vitriol on these forums lately.

We are pleased to announce that the StableCoin Shop is nearing completion. The back end is  about 75% done and our web design guy is in the process of designing a clean front end.  Originally, we just planned to offer digitally delivered goods at launch, but competing services have forced our hand. Therefore, we have decided to include Amazon.com integration as well. Here's the specifics:

* Users will have an account that they can transfer SBC into
* After a certain number of confirms (currently 50, subject to change), SBC will be posted to the account
* SBC can then be converted to USD credit based on an algorithm that invokes several market variables

USD credit can be spent in the following ways:

* Users can submit an Amazon.com wish list which will be purchased for them
* Users can have steam games gifted to them
* Users can have gift cards codes delivered to them via email

The shop is set to be launched as soon as SBC has a fair market price establish (aka gets on an exchange). I'm sure a few of you will question this, but anyone who has taken an economics class will understand why we can not just launch the service and ascribe an arbitrary value to the coins.

I hope you are all as excited about launching this service as we are.

Got it
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN] MMCFE operators, disable manual withdrawals on: June 14, 2013, 04:03:02 PM
There appears to be an exploit in MMCFE allowing an attacker to withdraw more coins than he should be able to. I have witnessed several pools fall victim over the past few days.

I recommend you disable manual withdrawals for now if you are unsure as to whether or not your pool is vulnerable.

Announcing the launch of http://stablecoin.net

The site is rather barebones right now, but offers enough information for newcomers of StableCoin to hop in and begin mining. In the future, this will be the basis from which we launch the StableCoin shop and coin mixer, as well as any other future services.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][SBC] StableCoin ¦¦ A new breed of cryptocurrency ¦¦ v1.1 RELEASED on: June 12, 2013, 04:28:01 PM
Version 1.2 of StableCoin is scheduled for release within the next 24-48 hours. This will be considered a mandatory update, as the fee structure will be overhauled (TX fees have been significantly reduced).

I'll also take this opportunity to suggest using one of the avatars posted on the first page to increase SBC awareness, as well as contacting exchanges to request StableCoin's addition. Thank you for your continued support!

Pull from github (or download from sourceforge) and compile. Your coins won't be affected. Backup your wallet.dat if you're worried, though. Smiley

I'd like to get the word about how fair the launch was (58k coins during first 24 hours. 54k coins during second 24 hours), but it's hard to do so without spamming the forum with unnecessary threads Smiley

Word of mouth should eventually lead people here.

Artos is there an ETA on the store? Or are you going to open it once SBC hits an exchange?

Not many stores for altcoins and opening one could really help SBC grow.
Store is currently in development and is slated for release at some point after SBC hits an exchange. I'm sure you understand the perils of opening a store using a currency that has an undecided value. We'll let the market decide, and then price accordingly.

More information will be released in the coming days.

I cannot believe how little interest there is for this coin.

I guess with 2-3 new coins released a day it is hard to keep track of them all.

I will continue mining this for a few weeks to see if more people jump on board.
Network speed is at 180MH right now, I'd say there's a lot of interest. They're just not vocal about it. They're all silently mining the sleeping giant. Wink

Artos...just installed version 1.1 but my Stable coin states the version is v0.6.3.0-g3aaa7ba-beta
That's just the version of bitcoin the client is based off of.

no exchange etc..... no one buying or selling on the forums literally just nothing happening

yeah but this usually needs some time or?
lets give the guys 1-2 weeks or?
yes people need to have patience, this is a good coin

Don't get me wrong I want it to succeed but now with 30+ alt coins out there what sets this apart? right now nothing other then the fact that it had the best launch to date but that in itself is not enough.

Well, for starters StableCoin doesn't seem to have attracted the P'n'D crew, at least if it has it is not apparent yet. I've watched the difficulty go up and downover the last 24 hours of mining and it certainly appears that the mining of the coins and the difficulty adjustments are going exactly the way the devs intended. IMHO, and from my limited early observation, it would seem that this is actually a good sign for the long term stability of the coin. Time will tell though as it always does.
Spot on. SBC has had the fairest launch to date, thus no one have a large amount of coins ready to dump. This was one of our goals when designing the reward system. Smiley
